List of BMF Texans

Crockett was from Tennessee, Travis was from South Carolina, and Houston and Austin were born in Virginia.  I took OPs list as BAF who were important to Texas not born and raised here.  IIRC, Crockett was only here for three months and at the time here was technically Mexico.

Not trying to be an ass but didn’t Parker surrender to the white man in 1875?  Plus, isn’t one of his major criticisms that he basically ended up adopting European culture over his own later in life?

Thank you for posting this. I've never heard of this man before reading the linked Wikipedia page. After reading that I would put him at the top of the lists of bad asses not just from Texas but anywhere.

Here is an excerpt from his time in Vietnam:

The doctor was about to zip up the body bag when Benavidez spat in his face, alerting the doctor that he was alive.[3] (see medal citation below)

The six-hour battle left Benavidez with seven major gunshot wounds, twenty-eight shrapnel holes, and both his arms were slashed by a bayonet. He had shrapnel in his head, scalp, shoulder, buttocks, feet, and legs, his right lung was destroyed, and he had injuries to his mouth and back of his head from being clubbed with a rifle butt. A bullet shot from an AK-47 entered his back and exited just beneath his heart.

Oh did I mention that these injuries occurred after he heard that a 12 man patrol was surrounded by over 1000 NVA and volunteered to assist arriving armed with his medical bag and a knife?

Oh and this is after stepping on a landmine in 1965 and going against doctors orders (who thought him to be permanently paralyzed) to teach himself to walk again.

Some men are just made of something different. RIP Master Sergeant.

Staff Sergeant Macario Garcia, who was not an American citizen until after the war --

Quote
Citation:
Staff Sergeant Marcario García, Company B, 22nd Infantry, in action involving actual conflict with the enemy in the vicinity of Grosshau, Germany, 27 November 1944. While an acting squad leader, he single-handedly assaulted two enemy machine gun emplacements. Attacking prepared positions on a wooded hill, which could be approached only through meager cover. His company was pinned down by intense machine-gun fire and subjected to a concentrated artillery and mortar barrage. Although painfully wounded, he refused to be evacuated and on his own initiative crawled forward alone until he reached a position near an enemy emplacement. Hurling grenades, he boldly assaulted the position, destroyed the gun, and with his rifle killed three of the enemy who attempted to escape. When he rejoined his company, a second machine-gun opened fire and again the intrepid soldier went forward, utterly disregarding his own safety. He stormed the position and destroyed the gun, killed three more Germans, and captured four prisoners. He fought on with his unit until the objective was taken and only then did he permit himself to be removed for medical care. S/Sgt. (then Pvt.) Garcia's conspicuous heroism, his inspiring, courageous conduct, and his complete disregard for his personal safety wiped out two enemy emplacements and enabled his company to advance and secure its objective.

Eisenhower lived in Texas for less than two years and was too young to remember a second of it.

Chris Kyle was a liar, a narcissist, and a sociopath.

Just wanted to echo this in regards to Chris Kyle.  Not a fan.

Charlie Beckwith died here and would probably have self-identified as a Georgian, but that's a real badass if we're keeping it to veterans.  Also not a self-promoter prone to making outlandish lies like Kyle.

He was also half white. So even if he didn't ever surrender to the white man his father surrendered to the white woman. Still undefeated.

Eisenhower  . . . born in Dennison but grew up on Wichita.  Or do I have it backwards?
