My dumbass ass dog spends his nights barking at the damn cat that roams the neighborhood. Lot of good he is going to be in a real emergency.

It used to be "thou shalt not kill", or at least that's what I was taught.

 

That's the kind of stuff folks who didn't pay attention in Sunday School try and say as some kind of gotcha. The Hebrew word translated as kill is more accurately translated as murder, although there is probably some nuance that our language doesn't pick up. I believe the usage of the word "kill" in modern translations comes from the Latin Vulgate translation, so it's basically a translation of a translation.
