Has Wisner already burned his redshirt? If he hasn’t, he’s headed that way. I didn’t get the take after his lost his job at DeSoto, but good evaluation as a ST specialist.

Played 4 games, so 1 more and redshirt gone.  Either Gerry/Bobby said in OTF today that Wisner might end up as a RB after this season.  Gain experience catching the ball better, then take that skill to RB.

Participation Chart thx to @Hiphopopotamos

Didn’t lose his job, played a different role and he was a big reason they won state that year.

On "Lunch with Coach" today, Coach was critical of the poor snaps on FGs.  Says as a result, the holder's spots for the FG kicks were off... says it's one reason for struggles on FG attempts. Coach was really not happy about another muff by our returners🙄

Coach Banks better get his Special Teams ready -- don't be surprised to see blOU fake a punt/FG and possibly try an onsides kick.

Venables can't play conservatively on Saturday.

Banks seems ready, so far! :)

We need to stop returning kickoffs.  A fair catch and taking possession at the 25 is better than a 15.4 yard return, unless the return starts with a catch at the ten yd line.  That should be the benchmark - do not return unless you catch at the ten.  Short kickoffs like that are few and far between, and the fair catch eliminates most penalties.

My guess is Red got benched for his personal foul so they put in little used Deandre Moore at a critical point in the game.

It may not have been intentional, but the KO return took extra time off the clock which helped us end the game on that drive without needing more plays

Sources: FCS coordinator, former Big 12 analyst joining Texas support staff

ZACH BARNETT    1 HOUR AGO

Texas is expected to hire Arkansas-Pine Bluff special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Chris Forestier to its support staff, sources told FootballScoop on Friday. He will be a special assistant to the head coach, similar to the role Joe DeCamillis filled last season, sources said.

Forestier joined the UAPB staff in March. He spent the last two seasons as a special teams analyst at Houston, where he faced off against Texas in their only season as Big 12 bunk mates this past October. In 2023, Houston blocked three kicks, returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, and senior Mark Fleming ranked in the top five in the conference by averaging 7.15 yards per punt return.

DeCamillis, a former NFL special teams coordinator, spent 2023 as a special assistant to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, but is now the associate head coach and special teams coordinator at South Carolina. Texas also employs Jeff Crosby as a senior analyst for special teams in addition to assistant head coach, special teams coordinator, and tight ends coach Jeff Banks.

An LSU graduate, Forestier spent six years on staff at LSU, working primarily with special teams and concluding as interim special teams coordinator for the 2022 Texas Bowl. He also worked as a graduate assistant at Northwestern State from 2014-15, coaching linebackers and special teams.

Texas is looking to build off a Big 12 championship and College Football Playoff appearance. From a special teams perspective, Texas loses All-Big 12 returner Xavier Worthy, kick returner Keilan Robinson, and punter Ryan Sanborn. The Longhorns added Second Team All-Big 12 returner Matthew Golden from Houston and the Pac-12's second leading kick returner in Oregon State transfer Silas Bolden, and return kicker Bert Auburn, who was placed on scholarship earlier this week.

Texas Long Snapper Tate Haver on Perfecting His Craft & Growing Up Around the NFL

3rd & Longhorn      June 20th

Their interviews are great.  This one as well.

I was hoping they’d ask the blocking technique for an undersized guy so focused on the craft. Seems like they’d get blown apart more often based on their opposition.

Ugly performance vs jawja...  need to really step up vs vandy.

Won't be surprised to see vandy take some chances on special teams vs Texas.  Banks needs to have our guys ready...
