There's a serious lack of Kenny and Kyle thus far, but the last episode was pretty damn good.

I haven't enjoyed the heavily serialized arcs as much and I think they're obviously onto one with Tolkien's dad vs. Randy in the weed biz.  I didn't love the whole Tegridy Farms angle other than Randy being Randy.

The realtor episode did feel like one of the first self-contained episodes in a while, and without any preachiness on any political or sensitive cultural topic. They are usually pretty good at those, but they do sometimes feel forced. I hope there is more self-contained apolitical satire this season. I agree the Tegrity Farms episodes were funny with  Randy being Randy, but it didn't need a full season and more.

So that last episode was it for the season.  No more until either later this year or next year.  Could be that the pandemic specials ate into it.

I'd say "unofficially" that the COVID specials being labeled as Season 24) were an extended first part of season 24 and what we got on Comedy Central was the 2nd part (Season 25).

Typically, South Park has done 10 episode seasons going from September to December (since 2013).   They stretched out the pandemic specials (for obvious reasons) - September 2020 -> March 2021 -> November 2021 -> December 2021 and then ran a shortened 6 episode season from February to March 2022.  We got "10" episodes, but 4 were extra long in a 14 month span.

A 45 minute episode about streaming services paying for content and too much content, and Randy is angry that Stan is making content for other services even though Stan lives with Randy and is making content for Randy, culminating in Randy freaking out about exclusive content and calling Stan a cocksucking cunt.

Wonder if this is Trey and Matt airing some grievances with Warner/HBO/Comedy Central executives.

Liked the Chinatown angle.

Pretty crazy to see those guys become believers in ManBearPig all these years later.

Chinatown take was cool.  The ManBearPig subplot seemed more like bitching about people moving to Colorado/weed farms/etc. as well as the serious water shortages to the west.

The Randy plots usually seemed to be about them, so I assume that Warner Brothers was bitching about their specials for Paramount Plus (the Pee Pee guy).

ManBearPig was code for the phenomenon causing the drought and subsequent water shortages with folks fighting over a diminishing resource. They made that clear at the end with those newspaper headlines and its wasteful use on lawns and whatnot. Regardless, they did a clever job conveying both the "streaming" messages.

It was funny at times but way too preachy and I couldn't even follow all of their streaming grievances. There are too many services and a lot of the content sucks. That's about all I really understood about that subplot. The environmental and water problems was pretty on point commentary wise but not really all that funny. Pi Pi was funny in the original episode no sure he needs to be recurring. The Karen stuff was about the funniest part of the special and even there I thought they could have made it funnier. I'd give it a 5/10 at best by South Park standards. Not really worth paying for Paramount Plus for the month.

I thought both were pretty weak, by their standards at least. Way to much Pi Pi, he's just not that funny. Way too much on the streaming platform commentary, we get it dudes. Draining fake boobs felt out of place and not really all that funny. I liked Randy going back to what he was a little bit but still having the super Karen stuff. I hope they lean way less on the Tegrity stuff going forward, it's run its course. Cartman had some good lines and his tits cracked me up a few times. Overall, meh. I'd like to see them go back to contained episodes that are just funny without social commentary, or where the commentary isn't the entire story line, just enough that you get it but it's not distracting. I might be in the minority though.

Right. There’s some deep shit metaphorically there, if one wants to dig.

But also at face value, a big dick in the face about streaming, which just happens to be where it can be found.

They cashed the check, then wrote it bitching about streaming while being aired streaming.

That amuses me a bit.

“You want to pay us a shitload of money to write some exclusive South Park movies for your new streaming platform?  You sure about that?  Okay, we’ll write you some new South Park stuff exclusively for your streaming platform.”

I’m chucking as well.

I still feel like they are trying too hard to fit in references and commentary. Harry and Meagan plot was funny but didn't need to be the focus of the entire episode. I do like how they continue to refer to the British monarchy in terms of Canada. "An important day for Canada, and therefore the world." I was expecting a few "as is tradition" in there too. Was CumHammer supposed to be a reference to Kumon? It wasn't obvious to me. Cupid Ye was pretty funny.

Yeah, the British royals part would have been better as a B story.  The point was funny, but there's just not enough for a whole episode worth.

I was sick yesterday and watched most of Season 6.  Jesus Christ, I forgot how fucking funny that era was.  The LOTR episode where the boys are spreading a porn tape around town?  Kids today wouldn't even get the concept, but for anyone alive in that era it really hits.  It's also such a perfect parody of LOTR for a 20 minute episode.  Top it off with Butters becoming a complete hornball vs Token just being completely traumatized by hardcore porn and I was in tears.  One of those episodes that just plays brilliantly off the way the characters had been developed over time.  To me, that's where South Park hits it's zenith.  When there's a little tie to current events to set up the stage, but the actual jokes have more to do with the characters themselves.

Matt and Trey are of the age when they remember porn fairies spreading porn around to all the kids.

I never watched Game of Thrones, but the episodes where Butters is obsessed with all the weiners is some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen. I pull up clips on youtube sometimes just to laugh my ass off. The Weiner Weiner song is just hilarious. Yes, my sense of humor has not matured since middle school. Also ran accross this on youtube. So stupid, yet I just can't help but laugh.

After that episode came out, every time we'd watch a new GOT, my wife used to take our half dachsund, pick him up under the front legs, and sway him around to the music.

Because he was, literally, a floppy weiner.
