I’ve seen 5 games at Yankee stadium, including 1 at the old one as a kid. Major lulz at Astros fans calling anyone else “bandwagon”. I think I went to MMP once a summer from like 09-13, tickets were so cheap. Don’t know that I ever saw it more than 30% full. Well except for Pettitte’s farewell the last weekend of 2013. Imagine that.

Lol.  5 games. It isn't that you're fairweather, it's that you are a "brand" fan.  Like any Lakers fan outside of LA.  Or Cowboys fans outside of Texas. The Yankees can and often do suck but are still a brand.  Or Jordan's Bulls, the one time when brand and fairweather collided.

I've seen somewhere between 20 and 30 games in Yankee Stadium.  Still not a fan.

I have also seen over 100 games in Shea/Citi.  At some point, I will have seen more games at Shea/Citi than at the Dome if I haven't already.  I went to about 20 games a year at the dome from age 5 to 20, and watched nearly every game.  But those childhood games count for like 100 each.  Especially when its your hometown team.

And although I have lived in NY for 20 years, I'm from Houston.  I am a Houston fan and always will be. I now am also a grudging fan of the Mets because my 6 year old tells me, "I like to go to the games, but the TV is boring. You like the Astros.  I like the Mets."  But she is from NY.  I'm not.  Sports fanship has always been about location.  90% of us are UT fans because we went there.

Having written that, if my daughter becomes a real baseball fan in the next few years, I can now see the potential for me actually pulling for a Mets victory in some future Mets-Astros world series. Luckily the Mets will still Mets so future me and 1986 me don't tear apart the space time continuum.

2 starters with a combined age of 93 and another who is certainly on an inning count, 60 game schedule sounds great to me.
See, this here is analysis worth $9.95. Can I say Show Me A Loss, or are we saving that for the season thread?

And speaking of the season, dunno how much Julia we will get, as she is like 6 months pregnant right now. But hey, Lil Shep might still be able to get her to post in the season thread after he starts it.

Houston is indeed full of front running fans, but there are plenty of familiar names on this 78 page non-bandwagoner thread:

First rattle out of the box in that thread, the suggestion is made to demote Altuve and season him more.   LOLz.   Not a shot at the poster, as who the fuck knows?   It's just funny in hindsight.

The observations and prognostications are incredibly entertaining in the thread.

Yeah, that's fine.  It's just that you jumped on the bandwagon of the biggest winners from two thousand miles away, and now you're talking shit to a bunch of guys who grew up watching Nolan Ryan in the Dome.  And your bandwagon team is just as guilty of cheating as our hometown team is, so you can shelve the sanctimonious crap.
Have you ever even been to The Bronx?

Hes the very definition of bandwagoner, and bullshit on the stros never being on tv for him.

Bruh I live in Houston, despise the Yankees, and I've seen 6 games in the past 4-5 years.  So you're either a bandwagon/brand fan or a poor.

Fuck that.  Your daughter will have plenty of years after you kick the bucket to see the Mets win a WS.

Looks like the schedule is going to be 10 games against each division team and 4 games against each NL West team. Lots of late starts. I’m already tired

Astros owner Jim Crane, asked if fans will be allowed at MMP: "That's the plan. We still have to go through the player protocol. We're still focused on that. I think the intent at some point is to get the fans in the ballpark."

I guess if I am going to get covid and potentially die then no other place i would want to catch it other than mmp

Ill wear a mask, sanitizing hands , waiver all that. Just let the die hards into park and watch some baseball. Knowing mlb they will screw this up royally. 200% price increase on everything

So donating money and doing the same actions as (just about) every other franchise means he’s not putting profits above public safety? Hmmm...

It just seems a bit myopic to make such a revenue-centric statement right when things look worse in Houston & the rest of the state than most other MLB markets.

Read the room, Crane. Might not be the best time to promote putting butts in seats.

Crane is going to follow the public safety parameters set by the government like every other business owner. Is everyone who have opened their offices, stores and restaurants a greedy douchebags as well?

Posted

yeah, i got no impression he is a greedy douchebag from him - if anything, he wants to try and bring a hint of normalcy in these shitty times. the above links show he's willing to continue support. of course, i'm biased but that's my view on it.

fuck if the skeeters are going to do it, why wouldnt the astros be able to do something similar?

Wow dbecks.

What a stretch.

of course Crane is going to say that. Every owner should be saying something similar: “we would love to have fans if the circumstances allow.”

What’s his alternative?

Piss off the fan base?
”nope. We have no plans to allow fans this year. Don’t care what happens.”

and besides, if anyone is rooting for fans in attendance at MMP, I would think it would a Red Sox fan after the ‘18 ALCS (fuck Joe West)

Not really.

Just mildly tired as fuck of the bullshit Boston/ Yankee/ Dodger fan/ et all having to make the effort to trash the Houston franchise, regardless of relevance or reasonable standards.

So fucking ready to have games played.   The real ones.
