2020 astros offseason

I'm almost 100% certain that it was Beltran and Cora that started the sign stealing in 2017.

Beltran was struggling early in 2017 and he had played for a lot of different teams. Not a lot of other Astros on that 2017 team had played for any other organization than the Astros and Reddick was on fire to start the 2017 season.

Cora, is also obvious because he told MLB about the Astros in the 2018 playoffs(i.e. he knew because they were probably doing the same thing in 2017), and he was seen on TV watching Morton warm up before a game where Boston lit him up.

of that you can be 100 certain.  Had to get this shit locked down before arb 3.  Sad for him he cannot see what is going on here, but nobody will ever confuse him with being smart or self aware in any way.  He is a super nice dude though.  Kinda sad for him to get played like this.

Maybe it took so long because they had to get the pre-nup language worked out.

I'm fine with that. Cheating in professional sports does not move the needle at all for me. Never has. Never will.

Yeah, we get it. You're above sports and consider it foolish for grown men to care about cheating or some shit like that.

are there really people arguing about/defending this?  three comments

1. If your team is using cameras and signals to steal signs and signal to players your organization should be penalized.  Heavily.  it's BS.  It's indefensible

2. If you have players and staff in your dugout NOT trying to steal signs they're not doing their job.  it is a huge part of the game.  always has been.  always will be

3. if you are caught doing either of the two above you should not be upset when you get 97 between the numbers as that is also an unwritten rule of baseball.  works both ways.

Love how the media singled out the astros doing this two years ago, but barely glossed over the fact that the Red Sox and Yankees have both been rumored to be doing it as well.  No matter what, both of those teams are way bigger news than the Astros.  Coincidence the Red Sox win the WS with the AStros former bench coach the year after he leaves?  probably not.  THat is not a defense or excuse for the AStros if, in fact, they were stealing signs.  just an observation that they're not as big a story here, but they are the ones who pissed off the media and "purple bracelet".  THey probably have earned some bad press.

What punishment will stop it?

Does MLB investigate every outfield in all 30 ballparks now for cameras?

they all have cameras out there all the time for broadcast, and for scouting purposes.  that is not some rogue set up, but it appears on some level they could have possible had a rogue feed.  THat or someone is trying to create a story implicating the camera, but in reality they may have stolen the signs from the bench.  of course, youd need a guy on second to disprove the camera wasn't the source, or there is the possibility the pitcher was tipping. lots of ways to know what pitch is coming.  none of that means the astros didn't do this.  none of it is proof positive they did either.

And I never pegged Fiers for a rat. Wonder who the other anonymous sources are besides Taubman.

fiers has been a bitch about the astros since he was left off the 2017 post season roster then traded or not re-signed.  every time the astros play the a's he has some snarky shit to say.  and there is basically zero shot Taubman is going to give the media anything on the astros.  the media effectively "cancelled" his livelihood.  not defending his actions as they were stupid, but c'mon, guy loses his career because some reporter didn't like his words?  what a load of horse$hit. he has way bigger issues right now than ratting out the astros on this nonsense.

Mike Fiers-"I just want the game to be cleaned up a little bit"

Also Mike Fiers-Getting caught using pine tar on his glove during his no hitter.

The cheating is really not acceptable, I'm an Astros fan but I won't defend that.  However, that does not change the fact that Mike Fiers is little bitch

We were 8-1 in the playoffs, 3-6 on the road.

60% win percentage in regular season and 90% in playoffs

Every article or item I've read said that it didn't occur, if it occurred at all, during the postseason.

"rumored?"  The Red Sox were stone cold busted.
