Just finished this.  I’m the last guy on the planet that would be into a show about fashion icons  I’m a WWII nut and the Nazi occupation of France and the post-war effort to root out collaborators is very interesting.  This show is very well acted and well done.  Sad that Dior died at age 52 in 1957.  Chanel died in 1971.

Yeah I was hesitant at first bc of the fashion stuff but damn was the show good

I'm liking Presumed Innocent through 2.  I never saw the movie.

One of my favorite books of all time.  One of my favorite movies of all time. One of my favorite scores of all time. Yet, for some strange reason, I can't bring myself to give a damn about this show.

I'm excited about the other offerings though, especially silo and severance.

Good to know. David E Kelly with great source material seems promising for a good series.

Do whatever it takes to stay away from spoilers.

Spoiler

What are you doing? I said to stay away from spoilers, dammit.

I'm guessing Presumed Innocent has a different ending/twist than the movie.  What I've read online suggests it does.  If not, why bother watching?

Just watching the first episode.  Fortunately I never saw the movie.

Hewitt was born in Waco, Texas[3] to Patricia Mae (née Shipp), a speech-language pathologist, and Herbert Daniel Hewitt, a medical technician. She grew up in Nolanville in Central Texas,[4] and has close kinship ties in parts of Arkansas.[5] After their parents divorced, Hewitt and her older brother Todd were raised by their mother.[6]

These things ^, I did not know.

A very underrated movie, this could be interesting. Taika produced and Jemaine Clement as Evil Genius.

Looks like Bill and Ted's but not good. Although Taika and Jemaine's involvement is intriguing.

Two eps in on Presumed Innocent. Quite good. The actors all around are great, with Ruth Negga (please) and Gyllllenhaaaal (nailed it) damn great. Also love Peter Särsgaaaäärd and need to watch more of his stuff.

I'm loving it too. Except for the dude playing DeLay. He's horrible.

Slow Horses is so freaking good. I don't binge much anymore, but I watched all three seasons in a few days.

So good. Can't wait for the new season in September.

They're the anti Severance:

Season 1 - April '22

Season 2 - December '22

Season 3 - November '23

Season 4 - September '24

I kept looking for a premiere date and glad it’s so soon. I’ve read a few books ahead, so pretty pumped. Spook Street (this season) is great.

Gotta get enough seasons in before the main cast members get bored.

So far, it's a huge departure from the book. You could read the book and not have a thing ruined. It's way smarter.

The original movie left me cold.

I put the original out of my mind to watch the current series and it's okay. I think Kelly is just cashing in. He really twisted up something else recently. His work is cloying now.

He's a great story though. Back in the day, he was an attorney in NYC who couldn't type. He handwrote an episode of LA Law and paid his assistant to type it up. He sent it to the producers and, bang, new career. He's written for that show and written/produced a ton of great stuff since. The capper? Marries Michelle Pfeiffer.

lol if you mean Della Guardia that dude is in Loot with Maya Rudolph. He acts totally normal in that show but in Presumed Innocent, he’s acting style is weird. My wife and I both said why is is being so weird?!?

And Peter “not a Skarsgard” Sargaaaaard is great in this.

We are 3 in and I never saw the original but my wife did. I think this might be the only Han Solo movie I never saw

"its streaming service is attracting just 0.2% of TV viewing in the US. Apple TV+ generates less viewing in one month than Netflix does in one day."

Brutal. And it's not like it's easy to find anything good to watch on Netflix.

Fuck me. This is how we get reality tv on HBO.

I haven’t watched anything on Netflix that’s been two grades above total dogshit in at least a year, probably longer. That it is so popular and profitable is mind boggling. Meanwhile, shows like Severance, Silo, Presumed innocent etc have actual threads devoted to them because they are real television.

I don’t really get it either. Apple TV is $5 a month, no ads, and you get a MLB game every week. You’d think those cord cutting cheapskates would be all over it.

That said. I think they desperately need a massive hit. Apple needs another Stranger Things. Presumed Innocent and Lady in the Lake are pretty good, but I don’t see them entering the zeitgeist.

They’re all in on Wolfs. I hope it works.

Netflix is the modern day equivalent of channel surfing.

They have a massive amount of content most have not seen. Even if it’s crap, it is easy to try a bunch content and not pay much attention/investment to it.

Think of all of the dumb series and movies you otherwise never heard of discovered channel surfing on cable growing up.

*Netflix also dominates outside of the US, the others aren’t close

**actually youtube is closer, but close enough
