Of course I like to speak to you! Of course I like to say hello!....Not now, but any time, Dmitri.... I'm just calling up to tell you something terrible has happened.

Heard a factoid earlier that I didn't know. Sellers was originally going to play Maj. Kong, too.

Short and Miller discussing Dr. Strangelove and then immediately transitioning to "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" as equal pieces of art is surreal.

Don't get me wrong, I love A&C, but still...

We studied Dr Strangelove in Philosophy while covering ethics. Basically showing how the rituals of the flight crew shielded them from any ethical dilemma of dropping nukes on people.

Random trivia - but the actual line was Dallas.  They dubbed in Vegas after Kennedy was shot.

without a doubt one of the best movies ever made. layers of hilarity and sarcasm. Peter Sellers allowed to show his breakaway speed in so many ways. Just unreal how good this was.

TCM this evening.  I used to use ol' Slim Pickens ridin' in the bomb for an avatar pict.

Favorite trivia goes something like: British crew members saw Pickens always jeans and cowboy boots and believed Kubrick had told him he must stay in character.

More trivia. Actor playing Russian ambassador cracks a smile when Strangelove(Merkwürdigliebe) is fighting with his hand.

George C. Scott as Gen. "Buck" Turgidson was a genius stroke of against-type casting, and he played it perfectly.

His description of a B-52 flying under radar was glorious. Frying chickens in the barnyard! Has he got a chance?

I didn't get the mine gap debate.  Don't they have about 15 minutes to get underground?

I was also confused by Slim Pickens riding the nuclear missile/bomb as it dropped from his bomber.  That seems implausible.

You saying Slim couldn't hang on for 8 seconds?
