I'm currently reading a book on the early days of Los Angeles, The Mirage Factory, which is about 3 central figures that helped make the city start to thrive in the early 20th century. One of the 3 is the real life inspiration for Sister Alice in season 1, Aimee Semple McPherson. Honestly, part of why I read this book was due to how much I enjoyed the time frame depicted in the show. Damn, I really wanted a season 3.
