I don't have it, but there's chatter on 247 that Fields' visit on Wednesday is not happening. Starting LB at Minnesota is out for the season, this feels done.

Edit to add: It appears they have more need to sell

10. Linebacker
Kamal Martin and Thomas Barber have both graduated. Braelen Oliver suffered a lower body injury in spring practice that would sideline him for most, if not all, of a fall season. That leaves junior Mariano Sori-Marin as the most experienced linebacker on the roster, with Thomas Rush transitioning to a rush end role. This position group is the biggest question mark on the roster. Redshirt sophomore Josh Aune and redshirt freshmen James Gordon and Donald Willis will all likely see the field, and I have no doubt growing pains are in order.

Well.  That sucks.  I guess we should be thankful that our LB situation isn't as dire as Minnesota's.

Fuck them Gophers.

Ouch. Yeah we're selling, "we have very little depth", they're selling "we have literally nobody and you get to hang out w your high school buddies"

But Carl said he is a silent.  Moment of truth.

Let this be a lesson for Carl. Just because your source said it, doesn't make it true. It also means that even if the info you're receiving is correct, it still may not unfold that way. Maybe hold the fuccboi chatter until you're proven correct.

We'll see what happens with Turner and Damion Collins, but between Helms and Fields, Carl's 1-1.

They teach you early in $9.95 school to preface everything with a "situation is fluid."

I mean, you’re also claiming this before being proven correct. Justtt sayin.

It's also a lesson on why silent commits shouldn't be considered commits.

UPDATE (5PM): Sources at Texas say that they still believe Fields will be in Austin tomorrow despite conflicting reports. This will probably be a wait-and-see ordeal to see if he shows.

Missed this from Suchomel - Drayton is in contact with Khalan Laborn

https://247sports.com/Player/Khalan-Laborn-72202/high-school-178364/

He was dismissed from the team and is now in the portal. Not an isolated incident

During his time with FSU, Laborn has dealt with multiple suspensions from the team, including last year’s game against Florida (here). He also missed FSU’s bowl game against Arizona State in the 2019 Sun Bowl. In 2017, he was sent home from FSU’s trip to the 2017 Independence Bowl against Southern Miss.

Laborn's player profile from FSU website.

https://seminoles.com/sports/football/roster/khalan-laborn/

Dunno if the risk is worth it based on his production at FSU. He has a history (and is quite possibly deserving of a second chance), but he might grow into a malcontent if he doesn't get touches and see the field enough. Maybe the reasoning is that he's there only for a season and can provide decent depth.

To be fair - FLorida State is as fucked a program as there is and their OL is complete fucking trash.

But, yeah, doesn't seem like the type of kid Texas or Herman have really targeted in the past.  Herman would have to have a lot of faith in the Senior leadership of this team to think it would work.

He also probably has more eligibility than you would like for a flyer. And would probably need to sit a year, unless he's fast tracked a degree despite his tomfoolery

Wow, we really want another "Jordan Whittington type". I guess bc the real JW is following the Kirko Grindz career trajectory.

Possible confirmation on why Stan is looking for transfer RB's.

Given that all of the guys he's looking at are slippery APBs (well, no idea about the Harvard kid tbh), it might just be he wants a certain skillset and he can't rely on Whittington to hold up all season.

I don't think that's a fair thing to say at this point.

To be fair, Kirk did miss his freshman season with injury as well. It goes to show that if a player has a season ending injury in his first year, then it is safe to say that he will spend his entire collegiate career on the injured list. Please do not aggress the infallible logic presented on this board, it will just cause a rift here in the community.

Sheesh, just exaggerating for dramatic effect. Still, you might want a quality dude who can split carries if all you've got for the role is a guy who missed his freshman year with a major injury, then got hurt in camp the next year.

Roachie CB means it's a done deal.

Texas recruiting has been hot over the last few weeks, and it doesn't look like things are slowing down.  As the Longhorns close in on the 2020 season, they could be receiving immediate help at the linebacker position.  I've entered a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Longhorns for Arizona graduate transfer linebacker Tony Fields.  This pick comes after a reported self-guided visit to Austin to check out the Texas campus.

Fields recently narrowed his top schools to West Virginia, Texas and Minnesota, and multiple sources express confidence that Texas is the team to beat out of the trio.
A former three-star recruit out of Las Vegas (NV) Desert Pines, Fields originally chose Arizona over offers from Boise State, BYU, Hawaii, Illinois, Missouri and Washington State.

A three-year star at Arizona, Fields grabbed the job from the moment he stepped on campus and started all 37 games he played at Arizona. After his first year, Fields was named as a Freshman All-American by ESPN and 247Sports. During his first year, Fields led the team in tackles and recorded the best season by a UA freshman in 20 years. He also finished as the second-leading freshman tackler in FBS football.

During his second season, Fields recorded 89 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. In 2019, Fields finished the season second on the team with 94 tackles and 58 unassisted tackles. Fields would join former Michigan wide receiver Tarik Black as the second graduate transfer to join the 2020 class.
With no injuries or redshirts under his belt, Fields will have two years of eligibility available to him and one year of playing time left.
