Stop thinking he's some token billionaire.  He was three term mayor of NYC for God's sake and has a wide network of support in the party.
Weren't those as a repub?

Which "party" has his network of support?

Out of curiosity, who do you think is the smarter, more successful and respected business man: Trump or Bloomberg?

Old white billionaires are a no go but old white millionaires are what this country needs.

First of all, there is literally a thousand times difference between millionaires and billionaires.  Millionaires, at the age of these candidates, is now upper middle class.  If you don't have a million in the 401k by the time you retire, you aren't going to enjoy retirement much. Billionaires are 1%ers. They don't live in the same country.

Secondly, it's a completely different story.  Bloomberg is a Wall Street, corporate CEO guy.  Warren is a college prof who got into politics for consumer protection issues.  Mayor Pete is a veteran who became a mayor.  Sanders is a politician who has focused on economic justice issues for 90 years.  Biden, something something riding a train.

Bloomberg's story would have been a challenge 15 years ago in the Democratic Party. In today's environment, after the Wall Street Bailout, after the Tax Cut to the Wealthy, after we watch corporation after corporation bow to Trump to feed at the trough, there is no way.  You think it was tough to get BernieBros to the polls for Hillary?  I'm relatively moderate, and I would have a problem donating my time and money to a part time Republican, Wall Street billionaire. Bloomberg is far, far from a safe bet in the general election.

His opinion is irrelevant.  He still thinks Trump is less corrupt than Hillary.  He doesn't live in reality.

How about this: How about you actually defend DOTARD on one thing. One fucking thing that he has done that is not either absolutely pathetic, evil, or just plain stupid. Every fucking post you make is either a But __________ (insert name here, probably either female or minority) or a bad joke.

Like a Republican ticket for a GOP that has returned to sanity.

Age is just a number.  Some of these old guys are obviously on the slide of mental decline (Trump, Biden, etc.) but others like Rupert Murdoch and Bloomberg are as sharp as anyone.  Pelosi and Warren are both also very sharp.  Bern is incoherent but that has nothing to do with mental faculties.  He's always been that way.

Agreed.  No one accumulates that much money without a) breaking rules, b) not giving a shit about people, or c) both.

Onboard prefers his billionaire presidential candidate to be financially beholden to foreign interests and dead set on pilfering the treasury for every red cent he can get his grubby little hands on.

I think it's worth checking to see if any of this is credible.  Here's the thread:

  • He opposes legalizing marijuana and criminal justice reform; used the "gateway drug" argument.
  • He's against investing in tech education in public schools because -get this- "we invest in computers and then they're used for porn and to plagiarize homework" , verbatim. I could spend a whole thread just on this but there's more to cover.
  • He's against minimum wage and regulation around income and aid for poor Americans who have to hold several jobs just to make ends meet
  • Literally said "you can't train people to do tech jobs, they're just not wired that way" when asked about tech education to mitigate job loss because of AI advances
  • He ranted for several minutes about younger generations wanting to retire (?) and how that makes things hard on the economy
  • at some point said "women all of a sudden have opportunities now" so there are 2 bread winners in every family... Sorry Mike, ALL OF A SUDDEN?
  • And finally, he said "we need to go back to how things were done in Clinton days, when he'd get 3 democrats, 3 Republicans and take them golfing, then go lock themselves in a room, close the door, smoke cigars and make all the decisions" (all men implied)

Bloomberg is what Trump claims to be: self-made billionaire that knows how to govern. Even with Trump and his lies, I don't believe that he's attempted to claim being worth $50B like Bloomberg actually is worth. It's doubtful that even Trump could state that without laughing.

I see Bloomberg as a safety in case the DNC starts to find themselves without a good option against Trump. I don't see many voters becoming overly excited about Bloomberg but that's not going to be the deciding factor in 2020. However I realize that some here think the Dems have to nominate the most progressive, energetic candidate if they want to win. I disagree. Safe and boring has a higher likelihood of winning.

Not sure about the credibility but he might be right on that second bullet there. Technology hasn't been a panacea or anywhere close in education.

Like Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, John Kerry, Al Gore, and Bob Dole.

Trump happened for a reason.  The electorate wants to shake shit up.  Same old same old is the bigger gamble than a change agent.

The people that profit from the status quo want America to elect a do nothing placeholder but the American people aren’t buying like they used to.  That’s why Trump won the GOP primary, he was their change agent.

Considering that Trump would be worth more money had he never worked a day in his life, I'm going to say just about every American is a better businessman.

I ain't interested in voting in a "billionare businessman." That skillset is only tangentially related to being a good politician. Community organizers understand this "leadership through consensus" bullshit better that corporate tycoons.

Meh - sometimes billionaries are people who are great leaders.  Weird.

If you have the best candidate and he happens to have a billion in the bank...I'll vote for that guy or gal.
