Yeah, his comments really aren't making a dent from what I've seen and heard all day.  Trust me when I say this--if Blacks deem Bloomberg is the best to beat Trump, they (we) will vote for him.

Actually, from what I've seen today, most people are pretty much saying "if you think those comments are racist, then what about all the shit Trump has said?"  which is where I am on this issue.

Trump and his sycophants calling Bloomberg a racist is nothing more than a ploy to try and get more Black voters, which should tell you all you need to know about Trump, Republicans, and Conservatives--they view Black people as nothing more than props.

The only people pushing out these comments more than the Bros are the hardcore Trumpkins.

If you actually care about winning across the board, one thing to keep in mind is that Bloomberg is hiring up "everyone". This doesn't just impact other presidential candidates, but down-ballot Democrats won't be able to afford or find staff while this pathetic piece of oligarchical garbage pursues his vanity project.

Of course, this will just make the conservatives in this thread like him even more because he is helping to ensure Republican victory at the top and all across the spectrum.

Man--I don't know.  I can see a real benefit to a drive to nationalize the race, since we're running against a president with a 43% approval rating.

Isn't our much greater fear that the nominee won't have the resources to compete with Trump?  And isn't that fear sharpened with some of the candidates' lackluster fundraising?

We're running against Trump regardless.

All this does is remove strength from local candidates to run their campaigns for their districts/states. It's absolutely terrible.

We had to have flexibility under the charismatic and popular Obama... under MIKE BLOOMBERG!? my god

Not mine, no. Once the field clears and there's one candidate, Dems currently engaged will unite and those waiting on the sidelines will get off the sidelines.

We don't need the billionaires. If we did, our cause wouldn't be worth fighting.

It won't be lackluster once there's one.

Hillary Clinton literally bailed out the DNC with $$$.  What has changed?

"These candidates are terrible with black voters.  They're losing to the 'Stop and Frisk' guy."

She also said Black voters are telling her if it looks like Biden is going to falter, then they are heading over to Bloomberg.

I think assuming the DNC could choose to exit a wet paper sack is a stretch goal.

The DNC and many other Democrats understand that Trump and surrogates will run around the country smearing Sanders as a socialist and atheist and Democrats will not have an effective rebuttal that will satisfy the middle of the country nor swing states.

They know that Bernie Sanders is not the most popular candidate among Democratic voters. He's the most popular with the left wing of the Democratic Party.

That's a problem for Bernie Sanders. It's a problem for any progressive candidate trying to secure the party's nomination.

Good on him for offering a living wage. More politicians should do the same

Biden coming in 5th tonight is good for Bloomberg.  His main competition are the moderates and Biden self destructing will help his numbers.

im anxious to see Bloomberg make the next debate. If the others do nothing but whine that Bloomberg bought his way in, they will look worse.

Is it really a smear though?  He calls himself a Democratic Socialist.  He chose that term.  Whatever you are, own it.

Tactically, I do think that keeping Sanders away from the nomination is probably the right move, even if they can't openly come out and say it.  Most moderate Dems (as pointed out by other posters union workers) are not socialists.  When things are going well with jobs and the stock market, it's hard to convince people to make a radical change like that.

Yeah yeah, damn hipsters, but this made me happy.

Are you in Houston? I'd love to hear if he's actually reaching people.

The protestors will be interesting.

And for voters who don't know Michael Bloomberg - here is his labor plan:

Sounds like work at Amazon.

The truth can be characterized in such a way that it becomes a smear. There is nothing wrong with being an athiest or a Democratic socialist except for in a presidential campaign where nuance is not your friend.

To be fair, this is pretty similar to the advice that I have heard from almost every corporate person between the ages of 50-80.

He’s also saying if your income is over $1M, then your capital gains is taxed as income.  That’s a big change.

Lol at calling anyone who supports this a Republican.  Far left is gonna kill the Democratic Party just like the far right nutjobs have finished off the Republican Party.

To what degree?

To the degree where they aren't buying the remorse/apology he gave.  It's also being spread (the not forgiving what Bloomberg said) with Black media members and those who have powerful voices online (aka lots of followers).

But on that same note, it seems like Blacks aren't forgetting about and wanting answers for Klobs, Mayo Pete, and to some degree Sanders, although it's not as vocal about him as it is about the others.

he should get spielberg and scorsese to direct his commercials.  that’s the political equivalent of winning the lottery and getting pearl jam saving Brook Shields from drowning and using the reward money to hire Van Halen to play your birthday party.

In my entire life, I have never once encountered a door-to-door canvasser for ANY politician.  I've seen 20+ Bloomberg ads just this week.

the way my house is situated, the guesthouse is closer to the street, and the main house is hidden back a little bit.  My tenant told me that a bernie bro knocked on her door yesterday...something about registration.

My only other experience was about 25 years ago, when a school board candidate personally knocked on my door.  His 15 second introduction included "we need to return prayer to school" and that was when I told him to get the fuck off my property.

Wait . . . am I supposed to not support Bloomberg in a national election because he's a racist, when he's running against a racist?

Seems like those negatives cancel each other out.  On to the next issues, all of which lean heavily Bloomberg.

THIS ISN'T HARD.

When you're trying to appeal to the decency of people and say, "Hey, do you really want to re-elect a racist, serial sexual assaulting scumbag," you probably shouldn't nominate his racist, serial assaulting scumbag clone under the Democratic umbrella.

Of course, I'll support him against Trump if he wins the nomination, I just don't think it's realistic.

Are you saying Bloomberg is guilty of sexual assault?  I've heard plenty of stories about misogynistic comments and what amounted to a hostile work environment, but I've never heard that he himself has assaulted anyone.

I think it's probably wise to keep all the accusations within the realm of truth.  If you have a link, I'd like to read up about these assaults.

To my knowledge he's had a bunch of accusations and lawsuits, but he settled and has had no convictions.  No different than Trump.

If I'm wrong I'm all ears and am willing to admit I'm wrong.  I just don't think ceding the moral high ground to Trump is a good strategy.
