IN!!!!

Fuck yes!  Their last two "tales of" entries were both great...this one looks even better, with the best 2 CW characters outside of Ahsoka who we actually would love to see more of.

Wouldn't surprise me to see more Ventress content coming in some way too...

Ol Cad, pre Tubes or whatever.  They did him wrong in BOBF.  He fought prime Jedis but loses to an older fatter slower Mando.

Save for Andor, live action SW kinda sucks. I'm sticking to cartoons, especially those headed by Filoni, which this series ticks the right boxes.

I don’t think Disney knows what they have. Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn series could be their Game of Thrones.

I hope it happens and it’s adapted correctly.

They already have the actor for Thrawn as well...

He was an old ‘man’ by BOBF, ~30 years after the Clone Wars.

Could we be getting Death Troopers?

'Andor' Creator Tony Gilroy Says 'Star Wars' Horror Is 'in the Works' - Business Insider

Death Troopers - Wikipedia

  Reveal hidden contents

Or maybe not, I don't think I want another Han Solo and Chewie project

Finished the audiobook in a day. I have some thoughts.

Spoiler

- Lucasfilm owns the rights to the book, its canon, and John Williams scored the audiobook. This thing had to be getting fast tracked at one point. I remember hearing rumors of a R rated Star Wars movie for years. I assume Death Troopers was the source of those rumors.

- I hope Gilroy eliminates/replaces Han and Chewie in the film. It’s the most obvious twist and most forced part of the book. Just replace them with a new scoundrel and his monster best friend.

- Space zombies is the big twist.  I find zombies to be a huge crutch in the horror genre. Some cannibalistic stormtroopers that have gone full Lord of the Flies in deep space would maybe work better?

- That said it could be a great zombie movie especially in Gilroy’s masterful hands.

unironically, this is what I think the Ahsoka show is building towards. Thrawn has been out in the unknown regions for more than a decade now, and he's coming back to the galaxy to reclaim a nascent imperial remnant that's been nurtured by Moff Gideon and Pellaeon.

All the peices line up, and it would fit in similarly to how the Legends story fit after the OT

Cranked up Thrawn (2017) today. About 3/4 through. I love Vanto’s Watson. Pryce’s story of palace intrigue is interesting, but definitely the slower part of the book.

If Zahn’s novels are adapted in film, they really need to nail Pryce’s casting. She’s a difficult needle to thread.

As someone who has read an embarrassing number of star wars books, including all of the new jedi order lol, Zahn wrote the best books in the series in my opinion.

Damn. Those came out 30 years ago lol

Edit: you should read the original ones. The thrawn trilogy is awesome.

I finished Thrawn (2017). Did I miss something? Anakin discovered him?

Spoiler

From the text, the Chiss fake exiled him so the Empire would find him. They’re looking for an enforcer because their culture forbids preemptive strikes, and they face a serious unnamed threat. The Emperor plays along because he thinks the Chiss ain’t shit and he’s looking for allies.

Oldest wanted to go see Revenge of the Sith since it's back in theaters this weekend. Not my favorite but I'm always up for seeing The Wars in the theater.

At Celebration, I was chatting with some younger fans, and of course, for them, 1-3 are their favorites. I reflexively kind of cringe though, imagining how ep 7-9 is how some became SW fans.

I get it. It hit at a time when they were the age most of us were when the OT hit, at least Jedi. But man, the dialogue is just so f'ing bad in all 3 of them. Oldest and I were talking about it after the movie and it really shows what happens when George doesn't have someone doing a 2nd or 3rd pass on his scripts. Lucas didn't have anyone telling him no like he had during the OT.

I don't feel there are that many that became SW fans quite the same with the ST. That's my oldest's trilogy and she never asks to rewatch them. She does want to rewatch Rogue One soon since we're watching Andor. She has more of an affinity for Rebels than the ST.

Machete order the way to go for showing SW to kids the first time? We've watched IV and V, wondering where to go next.

Probably.  We watched them in the order that they came out I believe.  As long as IV and V are first. They must always be first.

I go 4, 5, 2, 3, 6 when I rewatch - and yes, it's the way to go.

If your kids NEED to watch episode 1 then I don't know, do it after 6 maybe? Or start off with it?

I always suggest release order.  Each movie builds in some way on the knowledge of the movies before it.

If you've already seen them all then machete is fine.  But if you've already seen them all then you're probably just going to pick and choose your favorites anyway.
