Those are Johnny Sack's kind of people. The kind of brave American patriots with whom he'd be honored to form a human centipede. Trump in the front of course, so nobody would miss out on the best part.

They seem to be going back and forth between thinking the virus is when Trump strikes and brings the whole Q operation into action, and thinking the virus is a conspiracy to stop Trump by Bill Gates and his minions in the public health world. It's fascinating.

There is some next level shit too, theories that the vampire blood drank by celebrity pedophile rings comes from Wuhan and the virus is related to an attempt to poison it.

In other words, Q folks having a normal one.

I truly can’t believe that people who believe that shit exist. Bottles the mind. Sometimes I think that they’ve got to be bullshitting, no one really believes that, do they? But yes, yes they do.

I'm fascinated in the gullibility of man, people will believe anything.  These are the same type of people that believe that buying Iraqi dinars will make them multi-millionaires when it's "revalued"...any day now.

A couple years ago a patient started talking to me about conspiracies about how the obamas and clintons and celebrities were soon going to be arrested. I had no clue at the time what the fuck she was talking about. And then she starts in on the dinars and asking if I wanted to invest. Again, no clue what she was talking about.

I humored her and changed the subject. I looked up what she was talking about and realized that these people are fucking nuts.

I like Harrelson. Damnit, Woody. Out of all the amazing actors in 'No Country For Old Men,' he's hands down my favorite in it. I seriously can't not watch when I run across it.

Interesting article from today's NYTimes on the psychology behind and danger of conspiracy theories:

Why Coronavirus Conspiracy Theories Flourish. And Why It Matters.
Unseen villains. Top-secret cures. In their quest for reassurance during the pandemic, many people are worsening more than just their own anxiety.

The coronavirus has given rise to a flood of conspiracy theories, disinformation and propaganda, eroding public trust and undermining health officials in ways that could elongate and even outlast the pandemic.

Claims that the virus is a foreign bioweapon, a partisan invention or part of a plot to re-engineer the population have replaced a mindless virus with more familiar, comprehensible villains. Each claim seems to give a senseless tragedy some degree of meaning, however dark.

Rumors of secret cures — diluted bleach, turning off your electronics, bananas — promise hope of protection from a threat that not even world leaders can escape.

The belief that one is privy to forbidden knowledge offers feelings of certainty and control amid a crisis that has turned the world upside down. And sharing that “knowledge” may give people something that is hard to come by after weeks of lockdowns and death: a sense of agency.

“It has all the ingredients for leading people to conspiracy theories,” said Karen M. Douglas, a social psychologist who studies belief in conspiracies at the University of Kent in Britain.

Rumors and patently unbelievable claims are spread by everyday people whose critical faculties have simply been overwhelmed, psychologists say, by feelings of confusion and helplessness.

But many false claims are also being promoted by governments looking to hide their failures, partisan actors seeking political benefit, run-of-the-mill scammers and, in the United States, a president who has pushed unproven cures and blame-deflecting falsehoods.

The conspiracy theories all carry a common message: The only protection comes from possessing the secret truths that “they” don’t want you to hear.

The feelings of security and control offered by such rumors may be illusory, but the damage to the public trust is all too real.

It has led people to consume fatal home remedies and flout social distancing guidance. And it is disrupting the sweeping collective actions, like staying at home or wearing masks, needed to contain a virus that has already killed more than 79,000 people.

“We’ve faced pandemics before,” said Graham Brookie, who directs the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab. “We haven’t faced a pandemic at a time when humans are as connected and have as much access to information as they do now."

This growing ecosystem of misinformation and public distrust has led the World Health Organization to warn of an “infodemic.”

“You see the space being flooded,” Mr. Brookie said, adding, “The anxiety is viral, and we’re all just feeling that at scale.”

In rambling YouTube videos, Steinbart claimed that he was “Q,” was somehow in communication with a time-traveling version of himself, and would soon be appointed to run Trump’s Space Force — a nonsensical narrative that nevertheless won him the devotion of a number of QAnon believers.

I'm convinced this Chinese virus was designed to destroy the American economy, and perhaps to take us over when we are weak. At the very least it was designed to destroy freedom. It affects the older people with underlying health conditions more than younger people. Why? Because the younger generations have been brain washed, the older people who didn't partake in the hippy shit aren't fucked up mentally enough to just bow down to the Communist agenda. Kill off enough of the older people who still have any sense, and the Communist Democratic party wins. This disease was created by Democrat Elitists with intent to destroy America, and I'm very scared it may work. Communism is so close to winning, and true Freedom is about to die. When you fuckers who think Socialism is the answer are at my doorsteps begging for food, just know I'll just as soon piss on your head as help you.

Some of them were.  Some of them weren't.  The really amazing thing is that hippies or buzzcuts, and all points in between, the common thread of the generation is selfishness.  They are the "ME" generation, with remarkable consistency across the board.  They rode a wave of the greatest era of economic prosperity in perhaps all of human history -- most of which was an accident of history and circumstance (the USA's unique post-war position, which had us sailing for 30+ years), and they view that as 1) their birthright, which cannot and should not be shared with anyone else, and 2) as the way things still ARE, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary ("I paid my way through college ]$800 a semester tuition] delivering pizzas 10 hours a week, why can't you?  Lazy slackers!")

Fuck em.

Not surprisingly, when people are stuck at home with nothing to do but surf facebook, this Q stuff gains traction. Just this week, I've seen 3-4 acquaintances that I didn't previously suspect come out as conspiratards. They're going around posting links to these "Out of the Shadows" and "Fall of the Cabal" videos as well as tee nutjob Doctor "crushing Fauci,  Birx, the Clintons and Bill Gates." The comments to their posts are just chock-full of fellow Q fans praising them for finally seeing the light.

Not sure if Q related, but I'm starting to see more posts on Facebook that Covid is a hoax in the sense that it's not that big of a deal and the people that are dying are people that would basically die with their next cold anyway.

My theory is people are getting stir crazy and want to get back to work as soon as possible, so they're seeking out whatever sources they can find, however unqualified, that say "all of this was unnecessary, I'd tell everyone to go back to normal this second if it were up to me."

A few Qnuts are starting to become disillusioned though.  Many were banking on last Friday as start of "The Great Awakening".  This included mass arrests of liberal politicians, media members, Hollywood types and anyone else who has dared to ridicule them.

For most, however, it just meant moving the goalpost...again.

With this thinking, the only way they could have then been convinced a shutdown was necessary is if there hadn't have been a shutdown and millions died. It might very well turn out that a this level of a shutdown wasn't fully needed but its one of those things that are impossible to prove or disprove.
