the Juggalos are, dare i say, responsible citizens.  they canceled their festival this year because of COVID-19.  Juggalos are MENSA members compared to QAnon.

Serious look at the Qanon phenomenon. It is similar to an emergent LDS or Seventh Day Adventist movement.

The Seventh-day Adventists and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are thriving religious movements indigenous to America. Do not be surprised if QAnon becomes another. It already has more adherents by far than either of those two denominations had in the first decades of their existence.

People are expressing their faith through devoted study of Q drops as installments of a foundational text, through the development of Q-worshipping groups, and through sweeping expressions of gratitude for what Q has brought to their lives.

Does it matter that we do not know who Q is? The divine is always a mystery. Does it matter that basic aspects of Q’s teachings cannot be confirmed? The basic tenets of Christianity cannot be confirmed.

Among the people of QAnon, faith remains absolute. True believers describe a feeling of rebirth, an irreversible arousal to existential knowledge. They are certain that a Great Awakening is coming. They’ll wait as long as they must for deliverance.“

I would argue that the people who follow those religious beliefs are not inclined to, nor are they being encouraged to, commit violent acts against their fellow citizens and/or government in order to realize the end goal of their dogma.  QAnon, however, very much is.

Agree. The comparison is apt to describe the growth of the movement, not the aims. Sorry for the confusion.

Michael Scheuer is a Qanon devotee who exemplifies the greatest risk of Qanon. Quite a background for a Qanon follower.

  Quote

American patriots have so far, praise God, been remarkably disciplined in not responding to tyranny and violence with violence. For now they must remain so, armed but steady. But the time for such patience is fast slipping away; indeed, that patience is quickly becoming an obviously rank and self-destructive foolishness. If Trump does not act soon to erase the above noted tyranny and tyrants, the armed citizenry must step in and eliminate them.

It is, of course, far better if Trump does so, and I pray and believe he will. That said, the sheer, nay, utter joy and satisfaction to be derived from beholding great piles of dead U.S.-citizen tyrants is not one that will be missed if Trump does not soon do the necessary to save the republic.

I'd like to think it's more some mob mentality thing.  Much like the German populace before and during WW2.  Once the system that had brainwashed them was removed, the most of them came back to their senses, expressing remorse and humility.  Yes, there were the fanatics that clung to Nazism, but the majority went back to normal.  Well, as normal as a German can get, I suppose.

And the bulk of Hitler's propaganda (at beast at the onset) had some believable basis, like pride in a country and its superiority, it's capacity to rise above the shame of the WW1 loss, to be a stellar example of what a country could be if they set their mind to it.

But that's a lot saner than what Dark Horse just described, which is spot on.

I wish we had some test that was a combination of common sense, IQ and empathy.

Expand

ahhh empathy. that word I feel is really where the deep divide lies. Us vs Them. And for many the "Them" is wildly different and they simply cannot think about them. For whatever reason that barrier is there to ensure we are very much divided. Its the glue holding together this chasm we see in the modern American culture war.

Or maybe put another way. From 1945 to 2000-ish we had a rarely unique society in that Them was elsewhere and if we just threw bombs at Them regularly all would right with the world.

Have a jamming day friends

It's the fucking NEW normal, man.  Trump and his supporters openly call for the imprisonment and murder of his political opponents.  With casual regularity.  And Trump is great with all of it.  It's fucking insane, it's through the looking glass shit, but remember, I'm irrational for the ledge and such.

Name for me the last US president who openly called for imprisoning his political opponents.  Go ahead and name for me the last US president who had high-level supporters (this fucking nutbar was a senior official at the CIA) calling for the fucking MURDER of political opponents.

And I'm the unreasonable one for pointing out that this shit is insane and will destroy the Republic.  Cool, cool.

What you have to understand is.....The Federalist is a libtard rag written by Swamp People!  WWGWGA!!!!!*

* Nevermind that the Federalist society is also HAPPILY riding the train of Trump-supporting idiocy to get more of its favored judges appointed....judges who (again, the fucking irony) by and large don't favor a true Federalist approach at all, but rather support an authoritarian Executive.

Qanon and the Federalist all smear shit on their own faces, the only difference is how runny it is.  Don't let the quality of the Federalists' firm, double-tapered turd distract you from the complete indignity of them smearing that same fucking turd all over their own faces and everything else they can touch to "own the libs" (although they use better vocabulary to say that).

Molly Hemmingway from the Federalist will do anything for money.

Lara Logan (formerly of CBS 60 Minutes (and the IC according to rumor)) is following the same path as Molly with her Red Scare bullshit.

Some "journalists" will do anything for a buck.
