The thing that sucks about all of this is that there is almost certainly a not insignificant amount of weird sex/pedo shit going on in high places but the fact these Q morons have cloak roomed it has turned it all into a big punchline.

Which was exactly the entire point

There's an idea that some male adherents come (haha) by it biologically....They are on the Internet all night with their pants around their ankles clicking back and forth between Q crap and Alex Jones and Pornhub, mixing dopamine hits from the porn and cortisol from all the outrage on the politics sites....It all mixes together; hell, 4chan and 8chan have it all in one spot. And so these dudes literally jerk themselves into a new reality.

I just figured out why I can't quit Surly...

Been thinking lately that "Who do you believe?" is like that old logic puzzle. You know the one?

You're trapped inside a dungeon. You have two paths forward. One leads to a room where you will become trapped and devoured by monsters, the other to freedom. There are two creatures at the entrance. One always lies, the other always tells the truth. You get to ask one question of one of the creatures. How do you find your way to freedom? If you ask one, "How do I escape?" If it's the truth-telling one, you're good; if it's the liar, you're doomed.

The answer is to ask one what the other would say, and then do the opposite. So for example, if you ask the liar which door the honest one would say leads to safety, he'll lie and say the dangerous one. If you ask the honest one, he'll truthfully tell you that the liar will tell you the dangerous one. Same answer, and the opposite is the truth.

So we can play this game with Biden and Trump, if you can find a question that matters enough. For example, if you ask them "If I asked your opponent who won the election, what would he say?"

If you ask Biden, he'll tell you that Trump will lie and say that he won the election. If you ask Trump, he'll lie and tell you that Biden knows full well that Trump won the election. The opposite, as usual, is the truth -- Biden won.

The neat thing about this test is that it works even if you think Trump is telling the truth and Biden is lying... You just have to find a question where asking one what the other would say yields the same result, then do the opposite. For example, the question "Should we engage in a civil war against each other?" Both would say that the other would say "Yes," and the truth is that we shouldn't.

A whole generation has now reached majority that was not exposed to Schoolhouse Rock...Yeah it was out there, but these kids had options and could and obviously did avoid it. And now we as Americans are paying the price, and it is not cheap.

Vice article about how QAnon is reaching further into Sovereign Citizen nonsense.

https://www.vice.com/en/article/88akpx/qanon-thinks-trump-will-become-president-again-on-march-4

How many different conspiracy theories, militias, anti-government movements, religions, and moral panics can we cram into this thing? This is a mental health crisis.

Slacker! Ttom had this figured out 9 days before this guy

Trump is in a secure location and he’s fighting from there, alongside loyal forces of the US military who are preparing for decisive action against the deep state traitors who are desperate to remove Trump from power by any means necessary

Many believers have paid a price for their views. Some were shunned by friends and family. Apps and social networks, like this audio chat room, stepped in, offering a welcoming community with shared beliefs.

“Does anybody else’s family members on here think you’re crazy?” one asked.

“I have family that think that way. I think they’re crazy for not seeing what the heck’s going on,” another replied.

“I’ve stopped talking to every single person that isn’t on board with this,” another said.

“I can’t even express it enough — I’m so thankful for every person in this group.”

In the process, followers have become more isolated, stuck inside an echo chamber from which they may never escape.

My GF's Roommate (no pics) has bought into this shit. She spends all day talking about it and watching bearded dudes in Oakleys spouting their bullshit. She left a page of notes on the counter the other day that she's been keeping as she's watching these videos. Things like the oval office we've been seeing Biden in is a movie set and that orange means new beginnings (I'm guessing she's referring to head cheeto man). She also claims the inauguration wasn't live last week, but she didn't watch it and seemed skeptical when my GF and I told her we didn't see anything out of the ordinary besides no crowd on the mall and the people on stage being socially distanced. She's warned my GF several times to not be alarmed that a power outage and media black out is coming (which they obviously haven't).

Just alarming how bought in people are to this shit and don't bother to research anything or actually read the constitution.

If you believe in End Times theology,

If you're obsessed with implements of killing,

If you find yourself talking about how it will all be revealed on such and such a day,

If you're slapping skull stickers all over everything,

You might be in a fucking Death Cult.

And not a cool one like Thulsa Doom's outfit where at least you get laid.

God dammit, Sequim was on my list of possible places to retire one day.  It has some of the most sunny days in Washington and is right next to Olympic NP.

It has always been a weird-ass place, though.  And you'd have to spend the rest of your life telling people that the e is silent.

Why do they always have to allege pedophilia? It's not enough that they don't like them or their policies or that they're criminals, but the crimes always seem to have to include pedophilia. It's almost like they are projecting something from within themselves. Its really fucking scary.

Serious question. How does one maintain a friendship with people like this? I don't really have anyone like that in my life other than my mother, who I let vent because she's old and harmless and I'm compelled biologically to still love her and show appreciation for, you know, my existence. You can't pick your family, but you can pick your friends. I see accusations lobbed about people "living in a bubble" but I seriously can't think of anything I would have in common with people like this to the extent I could maintain a friendship. I have acquaintances who I know or suspect believe this stuff but I wouldn't call them "friends" necessarily. Friends I actually spend time with mostly agree with me on things and those who might be republican are at least sane and willing to talk policy and whatnot instead of accusing everyone else of criminality and pedophilia. I don't get "friendships" with people who are litierally crazy, unstable, and ultimately, very very stupid to believe shit like that.

I agree, when she starts spouting this stuff, we just kind of look at each other and roll our eyes. My GF has known her since High School and its just in the last few months that she's bought into this stuff. It was kind of entertaining to listen to it at first, but now we've started to become concerned for her.

You would think/hope people would jump ship when your cult's thought leaders are the drunk dads yelling at the T Ball coach from the bleachers.
