Another reason we play so bad is because Shaka is so bipolar with his rotations and we can’t build any continuity on the court. Some guys are playing every other game then not playing at all for no reason then another few guys play then he benched them. He is in panic mode for his job and he sucks at being confident in who can play and who can’t.

Hate to say this, but it's unfortunate Coleman doesn't play for a better coach. He's frustrating at times, and no coach can help his lack of size, but the overall game and potential are there.

I truly believe that, anywhere else, he would've developed into an elite college PG.

Especially by his senior year!

2-5 mcneese St and if we lose that should seal Shaka fate right?

no one's even going to notice if we lose this game. it won't change anything.

If you can't shoot the 3 worth a shit then don't shoot them. Attack the rim relentlessly, especially against McNeese St

Some in-game metrics:

McNeese is a very good 3-point shooting team, yet only 13 of their 42 FG attempts this game are from deep, making more than half (7) of them.

Meanwhile, Texas is below average to poor from beyond the arc, yet nearly half of their FG attempts this game (43.3 percent) are from deep. The Longhorns have converted 6 (23 percent) of those.

It's like Shaka subscribes to the "volume" business model from SNL's Change Bank commercial parody.

refs have actually been killing McNeese, and that last one was brutal.

Have to agree, man. Three of Lawson's fouls were extremely ticky-tack, imo. And he's supposedly their best player.

Can someone explain what is going on? Espn has been stuck on 8 seconds for 5 minutes now? Now we’re somehow leading?

Ramey played good D on a guy who is a set shooter and can't create his own shot. Kuxhausen's forced attempt hits the side of the backboard, Ramey rebounds it, and Kuxhausen instinctively flashes a quick reach, but it didn't look like he actually made contact. And it was a split second.

But that was enough to send Ramey to the line with 8 seconds and change. He swished them both.

Coleman gets a lot of flak--deservedly so, at times--for over-dribbling and for playing out of control. Today, however, he was poised from start to finish and had one of the best games of his career: 4 of 9 from the floor (only 2 attempted 3-pointers, making 1), 6 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals, and 1 foul without a single turnover.

Don't recall him dribbling himself into a corner or making a bad decision, and his assist total would've been nearly double if our "sharpshooters" could convert their wide-open looks.

Sad thing is, we needed every bit of that else we would've lost--at home--to a 2-5 McNeese State team that hasn't beaten a single D1 opponent so far this season.

The refs didn't help them out nearly as much as some of you are saying.  McNeese got away with a lot down low early in the game.  Washington for them flopped like a bitch.

B12 play is right around the corner.   This team is again a last place team or close to it.  We are going to get lapped by Beard's rebuild in year one.  I don't think CDC knows what to look for when hiring a coach or what bad play might be.  He was hamstrung by Perrin's extension of SS, but man, we should have bitten the bullet 2 years ago and canned this fraud.

I doubt we had the money.  Not many big donors are willing to shell out big money to can a basketball coach at Texas.  That's not on CDC.

Too much credit.

Essentially, Perrin as our AD, extended Shaka because he believed having a politically correct coach was more important than wins.
