You know who has always been a very good DC, who developed defenses that did VERY well against Big 12 offenses, and who may be wearing out his welcome as a head coach? I think he's also done collecting his big paychecks from his former job.

no, I’m right.  sorry, bud.  and I’m not advocating for charlie to come be our DC.  that’s ridiculous.

sorry bud, you're wrong. Saying anything positive about Strong is moronic. Comparing him to hot garbage is an insult to hot garbage.

If fired, pretty sure Orlando still gets $1.7 million for the 1yr remaining in his contract

No worries, I Venmo’ed the cash to CDC a couple of hours ago....

Lincoln Riley went out and got Alex Grinich from Ohio State. We're out dumpster diving for Chris Ash

wrong, Strong should never coach college football at any position. After he's fired at USF, he's gone.

I was sure it would be Beck first and not Orlando since he showed some improvement toward the end.

That was mostly due to good fortune.  His defense was still shit at very fundamental levels.

I did not expect this. Must be more going on than we know. Wonder who gets hired.

Charlie Strong is now available.  I hear he's a good position coach or coordinator.

Riley at OUsucks calls plays and it seems to go OK for them. Doesn’t Gundy also call the plays?

Difference is those guys call plays effectively.....

Herman can look to fire whoever he wants. But until he looks in the mirror and makes changes with the person he is seeing then this is all just window dressing.

This.

casual fan observation, beck was a bigger problem than orlando. turn this ship around

Never underestimate a person with the ear of someone in power. I am now afraid offensive coaches convinced Herman it was all a defensive issue and we may not see enough changes on offense. That would suck big time.

Densa is way too smart to out source a real DC, like Riley or Rhule.

I think the offense would be ok with a TE and taking the points when they're there...

The defense was bottom 10% (or there about) in the nation for various reasons (mainly misuse of talent). No way to not get rid of the DC.

If it’s Ash I can’t believe he’s hiring another guy that just failed. Beck, Meh, and now Ash. Hrrrmph.

Guys that fail as head coaches can be great coordinators. Plenty of examples. The problem I have with Ash is not his failure as head coach, it is that every time we get a guy that is not used to defending these offenses just gets frustrated and learns on the job while we suck. They think what they used in the BIG or SEC will work without major adjustments.

Charlie may be a good DC but how bad would it get around here with a HC and DC that have proven they both do not pay attention to detail.

Not a chizik fan.  Going from dusty old memory here, but his defense got worse the further it got from being coached by Tomey and Gerg.

Charlie was good with SEC defenses.  He was lost in the B12. No thanks.  He couldn't understand his own offense much less how to stop another.
