I am having a hell of a time today - constantly watering eyes, stuffiness, sneezing. KVUE says mold is high which is just a bitch since we haven't even gotten the benefit of rain lately.

for what, mold?

I think mold was around 18,000 in San Antonio yesterday.  High temps + lots of moisture = don't sit still too long or mold will start to grow on you.

Si.  Jim reported a count of 46,500 last night.

Anyone else buggin out right now or is it just me? My eyes have been watering all day and nose is a faucet

Started last night about 10.   Had to take two Benadryl’s before it finally calmed down.  My nose would not stop running for a few hours.

Same. Mold is moderate, but that's all that's being reported. My nose says different.

Allergy counts always seem a day behind.

Yup. Woke up here in SW Austin yesterday morning feeling like something was fucky with my sinuses and could immediately sense that it felt different than the typical early morning crud associate with allergies. Went to the KVUE site and saw that cedar was listed in the low count. Here's to looking at two months of itchy eyes/nose, constant low grade (if lucky) headache, crusty boogers blocking the snot from flowing out, coughing/hacking up phlegm, and just an all around fatigued/achy body. Cheers!

Yesterday was really the first day most of us could feel it.  Hopefully with the dry fall the pollen will be less.

Well it probably will, but who am I kidding?  3 grains of that crap is lethal, never mind 3,000.

7480.

And now the eternal debate about allergy medicine and alcohol.  That combination is bad for one's liver, I hear.  Well, if I'm going to be miserable, I might as well be drunk.

Holy shit I have been suffering the last two days.  Inside I keep it in check with xyzal, nasal rinse, aller flo, and ipatroprium bromide.  Plus zatidor eye drops.  I’m oding on a allergy meds.  Fuck cedar.

I've been wearing my covid mask all the time outdoors. I spent a few hours out in the garden, kept the mask on. It might have helped, but I was still pretty snotty later.

Is the price <$1000?  If so, then it probably doesn't work.  I assume that would be the established price point for a magic bullet to combat cedar fever in Austin.

I know a guy who swears by that stuff.  I tried it, but didn't notice any difference.  Maybe I didn't use it long enough, or maybe I wasn't supposed to use it as a suppository. I don't know.

I'm still curious about eating the berries directly, or making a tea with them or something like that.

Serious question: Why not cut them all down and burn them.  Maybe not out in the country, but why would any town have a cedar inside city limits?

The golden cheek warbler has a very powerful lobby.  I think some municipalities still list cedars as a protected species.

(Personally, I'm making notes of the trees on my property, identifying the males for future chopping)

The pollen from the ones out in the country is what blows in with the winter winds.
