Can you go into more detail about this? Because I don't see this happening at all, and if there's a mechanism at play you expect to take place about which I'm ignorant (very likely) I'd love to know more.

Think he's referring to no candidate apparel within _____ feet of a polling place. I'm sure they'll just go home and change

Every polling location has distance markers past which no electioneering is allowed.  Wearing anything with a candidate's name on it is a violation of that.  They will not be allowed in to polling place wearing Trump gear.

does a confederate flag count as trump gear?

All this means is there will be more riots than I thought might happen, IMO.

I've heard of people being turned away for wearing American Flag apparel as it is considered partisan.  No joke.

To stand in long lines? I have zero confidence that those people will be sent home in the first place.

I've seen it happen on multiple occasions.  Voters are told to remove a hat, turn their shirt inside out, etc.  They are not allowed to vote while wearing apparel advocating a specific candidate, party, or issue.

Every good Kohl's manager knows when a group of women that look like approach the store, it's best to just toss a few pairs of elastic-waist capri pants into the parking lot as a preemptive sacrifice to the Karen Gods.  You lose quite a bit of margin doing it, but you won't waste three hours listening to their bullshit.

And they will then video it and claim they weren't allowed to vote because of their Trumpiness.

Of course, as jimmy notes, by simply removing or hiding any campaign/candidate material, they would be allowed to vote, so it is entirely self-inflicted.

Have you no sense of decency, sir?

Slightly OT, but I first learned of this speech from REMs Exhuming McCarthy from 1987.  More context, here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army–McCarthy_hearings

Joe Welch played the judge in Anatomy of a Murder and did some other acting.

If not prescient, the song is damned current.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-trump-campaign-is-quietly-disappearing-brad-parscale-from-their-website?ref=wrap

Quote

President Donald Trump’s campaign still won’t clarify the status of its erstwhile campaign manager Brad Parscale, who was taken into custody by police outside of his Florida home over the weekend. But the campaign is quietly purging its website of Parscale’s visage.

Since Tuesday, the campaign has removed a video of Parscale from the homepage of its “Army for Trump” election monitoring operation. It also deleted a page on the main campaign website featuring a video of Parscale and Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law and senior campaign adviser. The video of their discussion, billed as a Q&A on the state of the campaign, has also been removed from YouTube. Those deletions were first flagged on Twitter by the writer Jeryl Bier.

Quote

One Trump campaign page discussing the event with Lara Trump remained online as of Wednesday morning. After The Daily Beast flagged it in a comment request sent to the campaign, that page was removed as well.

The campaign did not respond to that comment request, which sought to clarify Parscale’s role with the Trump reelect and determine whether he remains an employee or consultant. He was Trump’s campaign manager until July, when he was replaced by former White House political director Bill Stepien. Parscale remained in a senior role for the campaign.

Quote

The apparent effort to scrub Parscale from campaign web properties comes in the wake of a police incident outside his home on Sunday. According to the police report, Parscale’s wife called authorities to report that he was threatening to commit suicide, had loaded a firearm in front of her, and had physically assaulted her during a prior domestic dispute.

Body camera footage showed police tackling and handcuffing Parscale as they detained him under a Florida law that allows authorities to involuntarily commit someone who is believed to be a danger to himself or others.

Quote

The Trump campaign initially released a statement saying “Our thoughts are with Brad and his family as we wait for all the facts to emerge.” It followed up with another statement that used the incident to criticize the president’s political opponents. “The disgusting, personal attacks from Democrats and disgruntled RINOs have gone too far, and they should be ashamed of themselves for what they’ve done to this man and his family,” Tim Murtaugh, the campaign’s communications director, said.

Where did this allegedly occur?

I've never seen anyone kicked out of a voting line, but I have never seen anyone dumb enough to wear campaign material.

I have seen campaigners getting the side eye from poll workers and being asked to step back a few feet from the markers.

All my trumpkin friends on social media are interestingly quiet today.  Even my parents.  Last night, after that shit show was over with, I texted my dad, who sent me a message earlier in the day saying "Don't forget about the debate tonight."  Since the whole thing was a disaster, I decided not to lean in to it too heavily and sent, "It's amazing to me that, out of 331 million people in the US, that these are our choices for the highest office in the land and the most powerful position on the planet.  Unreal."

And I got no message back.  Hopefully, even he realizes what a monkey fuck that whole thing was.

He's busy getting his talking points/excuses.  Trump is a junkyard dog who fights!  He was ganged up on unfairly and had to debate TWO people!  Etc.

When I see Tim Scott, with a straight face no less, say that Dotard simply misspoke last night about white  supremacy, I get the belief reinforced of just how strong his pull is on his cult. Senator Scott is a disengenuous coward who is going right along with the rest of them. A human being with any conviction, that is not a full blown cultist and coward, would have immediately said he’s a racist.

I really am becoming more and more convinced that we as a country are going to have to effectively ban the Republican Party so that it ceases to exist. They have no low they will not go to in order to protect this wannabe fascist dictator while at the same time covering for their party/cult first instead of honoring their duty to our country and Constitution. If you are a Republican and you vote for this clown show in November, despite all evidence showing the destruction he has wrought upon the populace, you do not deserve to have a say going forward in the governance of this country while it gets reconstructed. I have zero patience for anyone casting a vote for him. There are too many lines that have been crossed and we have to keep pushing back against a cult that wants a hostile takeover of the country because they enjoy the infliction of pain upon those they consider beneath them. This is something that people who do not have an addled mind should be able to agree on stopping.

That has to be hair related but I'm enjoying the conspiracy theory rabbit holes.

I want to say that rabbit hole has been gone down during the 2016 campaign and it's either a wig clip for his elaborate network of combover and trusses or a brain shunt.

You'd be surprised how accurate that might be.  My step-mother has a sister that she no longer speaks to because (D)...which I have told them is about the most ridiculous shit I've ever seen.

I’ve reached the point where I have zero desire to interact with anyone in my entire family with the exception of my sister and her kids.  Parents, aunts, uncles,  cousins have all completely lost their fucking minds.  And they are very proud of the fact that they have lost their fucking minds.  Get them together in a group and the volume gets turned up to 11.  I got a wedding invitation in the mail yesterday from one of my cousins, and instead of putting it on the calendar, I just stuck it in the pile with all of the other mail, because I need to think about whether or not I want to go.

Interestingly enough, my old man was a lifelong republican who soured on the party during George W's reign. He thought W was a complete fucking moron and  could not  stand that stupid sob, used to rant about him and what the republican party had become constantly in his last few months. He passed away on hospice care at home the evening of Nov 4 which was election night for Obama's 1st term. He went downhill fast in the last 48 hours, so he wasnt "with us" but he passed away with the TV on in the background, its like he just wanted to see Obama make it.

It was surreal sitting there with my immediate family around my dad watching the election results come in as he passed away. Will be hard to forget that evening.  Looking back on it, if he thought W was a fucking dipshit, the entire concept of Trump would have probably killed him months earlier from an aneurysm.

It's astonishing to still see folks surprised by Trumpist friends and family going silent after Trump lays a really stinky one.

Trumpists are Trump. Trump is the Trumpists. They're all the same disgusting creature.Trump refuses to admit he ever makes a mistake, and Trumpists refuse to admit they make any mistakes. Trump refuses to hold himself accountable, Trumpists refuse to hold themselves accountable. Trump brushes aside legitimate criticism with deflection and distraction, Trumpists brush aside legitimate criticism with deflection and distraction. Trump lays low for a few days after he drops a giant deuce on national TV, Trumpists lay low for a few days after he drops a giant deuce on national TV.

They're all human trash. I get that it sucks that they're also related to many of us, and I think it's noble to keep the line of communications open so that they might get deprogrammed some day -- providing no one forgets that they have become entitled, narcissistic assholes, just like their deal leader. I hope each and every Trumpist wakes up and realizes what's happened to them, but I won't hold my breath.

Conditioned sociopathy is a bitch.

My dad's been fighting cancer for the last 5 years, and he's doing OK.  Still, fewer days ahead than behind him.  My step-mom loves him and is taking wonderful care of him.  They live on a dead-end street on the Guadalupe, just outside of New Braunfels, and I enjoy going up there and tending to the things that they need...mowing, cleaning the gutters, etc.  However, the political climate and the way that she's treated her own flesh and blood worries me.  How much more can I say before I end up just like her?  I don't worry for my dad.  I worry about where I might end up in the family pecking order if she has any kind of say-so.

The next debate is a town hall. I hope someone nails him on his "suckers and losers" stance on the military. He doesn't have shit to to fall back on other than his false claim Generals straight out of Central Casting came running to him with tears in their eyes begging "Sir, we need bullets!"

Trump just said he doesn't know who the Proud Boys are

Because he is such a profligate lying machine, he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt here even if he actually does not know who they are, or what they represent.  That's what a lifetime of brazenly lying about even the smallest things will get you.

For the record, he sure as shit knows who and what they are, welcomes their support, and hopes like hell that they fuck things up.

Oh, and the Proud Boys?  There are 4 levels, and let me tell you, this sounds so aggy:

Spoiler

Membership would be divided into ranks from one to four.

To attain level one, an initiate must publicly state: “I am a proud Western chauvinist, I refuse to apologize for creating the modern world.”

To reach level two, the initiate must endure a beating by his comrades while reciting the names of five breakfast cereals. This is ostensibly to demonstrate “adrenaline control;” leaked online videos show the ritual to be far less violent than what McInnes described. Initiates are told to limit masturbation to once per month. The idea behind this ban -- that porn is making men weak and keeping them from forming real relationships with women -- is common throughout the right-wing extremist movement. In his op-ed, McInnes wrote: “Though sexual intercourse is encouraged, Proud Boys have an endgame and it is to settle down and have kids. They have absolutely no respect for feminists but venerate the housewife so much, they are actually becoming quite popular with women.”

To achieve the third level, an initiate must get a Proud Boys tattoo. Common variations are “Proud Boy,” “POYB” (acronym for Proud of Your Boy”) and “Uhuru,” a Swahili word for “freedom” that the Proud Boys have appropriated as their battle cry.

Finally, the fourth level, which McInnes did not describe in the foundational document, is an honorary degree awarded for “a material sacrifice or service by a brother.” McInnes said in an interview that the fourth degree is awarded for ”a major fight for the cause. You get beat up, kick the crap out of an antifa," but he later backpedaled, saying it “obviously doesn’t mean you go to someone’s house or even pick a fight with one at a rally. Fourth degree is a consolation prize for being thrust into a shitty situation and surviving.”

Parscale's immediate worry is the campaign $$, but I'm crossing my fingers (but not getting my hopes up) that in the not too distant future he is hauled in for perjury. I went to the gov website and I looked over his testimony from the Cambridge Analytica/Facebook/Russia hearing conducted by the HPSCI and he straight up lied based on what was exposed in that recent Channel 4 program over in the UK. It's pretty much par for the course now, they fear no one, but if he has any sense at all, he should know the Family won't protect him and if Trump is out, he's not getting a pardon....
