Ok I seriously think now that that whole crew has some sort of competition to see who can say the craziest lie on national tv and get away with it.

"Donald Trump freed the slaves!". "Donald Trump dropped two nukes on Japan!".

Is that like a reverse "Bob Stoops is responsible for" game?  But one played by people who are actually trying to, you know, run our country (into the ground)?

Depressingly I feel like even David Duke would have been responsible enough to call Qanon batshit nonsense. I mean, to my knowledge, Duke didn’t jump into the QAnon waters.

Probably so.  But my ultimate point  is that from the very beginning he was willing to look the other way as long as absolutely any moral amoeba said, "I like Trump."  So it should come as no surprise that he would equivocate on thousands of loonies doing the same.

Obama’s speech was very good. You’re not wrong about having the senior citizen set (and I’m including Warren in that group) speak to the young; the whole “youth cannot know...” air might be a turnoff for that demographic but I’m also not familiar with protocol and the DNC. If it follows a seniority and other traditional procedures, then it very well could be that the ‘wait your turn young pups’ holds back some of the freshness you’re seeking. But, there is some change and it is a good change: more POC, more women of all backgrounds, more LBGQT spokespeople. A large diverse group and they are beginning to rally around each other on shared ideas of inclusion, representation and change. We won’t get through this without each other, that is probably one of the few things those Q people understand when they’re not out toppling 5G towers:  united we stand.

Yea. I wasn't kidding when i said maybe my white man sensibilities block the effectiveness of the message for others. I quickly bore during inspirational messages and speeches. I'm a feminist, but the "she breaks rules and is an outlaw!" said over and over again during one of the videos last night was becoming painful.

I recall when the great Anne Richards won the governorship she donned a t-shirt that said "A woman's place is in the house. AND THE SENATE!" It was never terribly clever and by then it was also old. I halfway expected somebody to run that baby through the washer and have Kamala put it on during her acceptance.

People wake up when you talk about what is real in the world they live in. This is not a time of earnest youngsters out nudging the oldsters to recall their idealism. The youngsters are Greta Thunberg. Talk to them like they're Greta Thunberg. We do not face a happy war. We have a world spinning out of control run by people looking to turn a buck on the calamity.

Obama's face last night said as much as his words. How can I make you see this? It's big and obvious. It's becoming a juggernaut. You can't just let this slip away without a fight.

I've never valued Obama more than I did last night. I kept extending my hand toward the TV screen. "Yes!"

But I fear that it will end up being, "Now we return to your regularly scheduled programming."

We're a great country. Envy of the world. We all love the USA. We're in this together. Then...nothing.

Adam Schiff and Barack Obama must feel like aliens from outer space.

We're not a great country.

We're not the envy of the world.

We don't all love the USA (many  would betray it in a heartbeat for personal power).

We are not all in this together.

We may WANT those things to be true, but wanting something doesn't make it true.

They create their own reality.  Surprised Trump isn't talking about how he took down Bin Laden.

I led that SEAL Team, you know they're not really trained seals like the fish. They're these...all of them have these big muscles. They're tough. When I showed up to lead them into the cave. Cave was a dump, lemme tell you. Real seals wouldn't be good for a cave attack. I told the generals this. WE gotta get some tough, tough guys. These tough men had tears streaming down their...heads. "Mr. President, sir, your excellency, we're so proud of what you've done. Obamagate. Spying on your campaign with the FBI lovers." Anyway, they were happy I was there. They really liked me. Seals of all kinds have always liked me. A lot. What was I talking about? Oh, right. The SEALs said I led them like nobody ever thought they could be led. We shot that arab guy like a dog.

Anybody else almost piss their pants at the 0:45 mark when he says “up too 300 miles of wall...at the highest level.”   But you can tell he has no idea why it’s ironically funny.  I think admiring him has now become just as funny as mocking him.

Most all of the Trumpkins I meet are "Yeah, but..." Trumpkins. No matter what evidence you lay out before them it's "Yeah, but" and they roll out the FOX talking points. You fact check them and "Yeah, but" Snopes is funded by Soros. They all have a comfy landing when presented with facts... "Yeah, but..."

Yup x 10. Had a debate with a few of my friend's friends.

They didn't believe the number of Covid cases and deaths despite it being on every single fucking legitimate news outlet. I tell them to look at Reuters and AP (deemed the most factual and non-partisan of news outlets according to the Media Bias Chart). Then they turn around and asked who put together the media bias chart.

They claim MSM is all fake news and they only believe what they see on Facebook and through forwarded emails. They are a lost cause. I've given up talking to them because they're already indoctrinated by the fuhrer.

Doesn't the irs have copies of his tax documents?  How hard is it for that type of stuff to leak out.

No judge is going to sit still for "I don't have them/my dog ate them."  At minimum, he can get them from the IRS or his accountants/tax reps.

The IRS and federal government/employees are required to keep tax information confidential and do a pretty good job of it.  https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/6103

Whether someone in the House or the NYC DA office (county) leaks them is another matter.

He'll just ignore the court order because the courts don't have any teeth.

This.  All it takes to kill the Rule of Law is for someone powerful enough to ignore it to say "no, fuck you, make me."  That has happened, is happening, and will continue to happen.  The Rule of Law does not apply to the GOP or this administration.

It doesn't matter. What is the judge going to do?  Arrest a sitting president for contempt of court?

I guess the question is if a federal court can direct the IRS to release them and if they'd do it.

It’s a subpoena to his accounting firm and banks. Even if Trump says no, these businesses have a strong incentive to cooperate with criminal grand jury subpoenas. Also, people get jailed for failing to comply with subpoenas.

The appeal today is about trying to stop a third party from cooperating

You think that the people involved at those entities won't be facing real, harsh threats of blackmail, bodily injury, or worse, from the admin and its allies?  It's a criminal gang.  Seriously, for all of these, just "imagine what the mafia would do if it was in the admin's position," and you have your answer.

Yep.  My very first thought when I read that was

”It don’t make a shit.”

Well, somehow or other, Deutsche Bank has already complied with a subpoena from Vance.  https://nypost.com/2020/08/06/nyc-prosecutor-given-records-from-trumps-bank/

Well i am sure he did some leg work on this and contacted the Goodyear CEO or President to see if this true instead of believing outright a local newcast with a screen shot of a training video that god knows where it originated from.

So reckless and brash, with no forethought whatsoever.

He is like your 75 year old grandfather who believes everything he reads on the internet, except your 75 year old grandfather doesn't have the power of the Presidency he can wield.

Just keep in mind apart from Dotard, Trump Org execs Eric, Don Jr., and Ivanka face some real criminal legal exposure here separately from NYDA and NYAG.  Barr can't quash.  Kiddos being indicted before or after the election would be the pin getting pulled.  Even if Trump steals the election, they're going down.

Sometimes mafia stories have a happy ending like what happened to Joe Pesci and his brother's character in Casino.

I admire your optimism. But if he wins again, they won't even show up to trial and he'll pardon them. They're not going down for shit.

And if Trump loses, any attack on his families and allies will be proof that the deep state is out to make an example of those heroes who fought against them, and that they control everything and this is payback. Just watch.

it won't matter if his taxes ever come out.  it won't matter if his taxes don't ever come out.  you wanna know why?  because we already know what's in them.

since early 2017 when people starting resigning, we heard that trump has no organizational skills, no attention span, no respect for history or procedure, and only acts on his personal grievances.  most people were like, oh, yeah, that sounds right, he runs his business like a 1970's mob boss.  then it kept happening.

articles quoting staffers from air force 1 talking about how he basically held them hostage talking their ears off about stupid shit, and trailing off muttering about cable news and obama.  and how they skipped dinners and other events overseas because they felt the "food would be too challenging for him".  and how they have to sneak vegetables into his mashed potatoes like a fucking dog.  and everyone was like, well yeah, he's a toddler.

then he got caught asking other countries to help him win the election.  we read the transcripts.  we heard the testimony.  and everyone was like, well, yeah, he doesn't care about governing, he only cares about reelection and "winning" and having people like him.

then bolton comes out with his book.  and we heard that every decision he made in 3 years was based on the calculus of reelection, and as shocking as that should've been, nothing bolton said was even news-worthy with this president, because he's a fucking imbecile with zero experience in government or world affairs, and has no idea where half the countries are.  and he fawned over dictators who said nice things to him because yeah, of course, he's a horrifying narcissist.

then his niece came out with a book recalling all these terrible stories of him being a piece of shit, and it was barely a blip.  because everyone was like, well yeah, he's a piece of shit.

and now 175,000 people are dead, and the president is fucking with the postal service and tweeting about voter fraud and calling obama a traitor, instead of trying to fix it or show empathy, and everyone is like yeah, he has no ability to show empathy, he's a piece of shit criminal narcissist toddler fucking fraud of a human.  the rest of the world just shrugs and feels bad for (some of) us.

so let me give you a little cheat sheet.  he's overvalued his assets in order to commit insurance fraud.  he's undervalued his worth in order to commit tax fraud.  he's not worth nearly what he tells people or what he himself probably believes.  he owes people/banks in china and russia 10x what he could ever possibly pay them.  he has dirty deals with dirty people and if he wasn't president he probably would be at the bottom of the east river in a rolled up rug.

i don't need to see his financials and neither do you.  and spoiler alert, if they come out, and say, well, exactly what every person thinks they say, then all the people who hate him will vote for biden, and all the people who like him, will still support him.  nothing moves the needle.  there is no needle.  he sold it to buy greenland.

I want to +rep this post, but I just can't because it's depressing as fuck.

This.

In the end, this.  This is the written-in-stone truth.  "Shoot a man in the face in the middle of 5th avenue" and all that.

The horror and incurable disease that has killed us isn't Trump.  It's that at least 40% of the country enables him, and gives him greater and more unwavering support than they would give an actual god walking among us.  We MIGHT be able to get rid of Trump.  We can't get rid of the 40% (note, I think it's closer to 45%, and because they turnout and the GOP will cheat, that's more than enough).
