First Brazilian beer, not bad

I haven’t had one of those in a long time.

When I am in Brazil I usually try to find Eisenbahn or Baden Baden. It used to be pretty hard to find either but getting a little easier. Not sure if they got bought out by anyone. I like Eisenbahn’s various weizen beers.

Last visit I had some Cervejaria Colorado, a pilsen, and I wasn’t a big fan.

Staying in New Braunfels this weekend. Any breweries in town worth checking out?

I have always enjoyed the 5 Stones beers (specifically their Shepherd series of IPAs) that I tend to pick up when in Austin.

Jester King Cofermentation Beer/Wine Hybrid with Gewurztraminer and Blanc Du Bois grapes is fanfuckingtastic. Better than the whole Spon series

Neg’d. Take it to the wine thread.

At the brewery or you found it somewhere?

Austin is the domestic pilsner capital, imo.

There are lots of good ones on that list.  I've had many, but not all.  The highly regional ones, from areas I don't really visit, I'll likely never get to taste.

I guess I'll have to drown those sorrows in Pilz and Gold.

Yeah, pilsners are best fresh. That's why I pass on any European pilsners I see in the states.

Light strike just destroys Pilsner Urquell.  It's alright draught here, but so much tastier in the Czech Republic.

Probably in the 2019 thread but it’s 2020, breweries I should hit in SD? Got a corona ticket on the cheap so I’ll be there for ~1.5 days

Modern Times, Abnormal, and Aleworks are the only ones that come to mind. I’m sure there is better too.

Was just there in January and, as you can imagine, there are TONS of great breweries all around. I try to only visit breweries whose beers I can’t get back home so, ignoring obvious ones like Ballast Point, etc, in addition to Modern Times as previously mentioned, I’d also recommend Pizza Port and Pure Project in the immediate San Diego area. There are also tons more if you go into the North County area and/or up NE towards Escondido.

Bar-wise, i would also go by the Toronado before they close for good. I know Hamilton’s and O’Briens are also great bars.

plenty of craft breweries will be closing this year if people stop going to bars and taprooms for a month.

Hang in there man, hope you're able to ride it out.

Hops & Grain San Marcos is closing Saturday. Can’t imagine how much money was sunk into it. Hopefully, they were organized to keep it separate from the original location.

i went to the internets looking for this info and didn’t see anything. is this insider friend info?

Saw it on a Craft Beer Austin Instagram post. Someone mentioned in the comments that H&G was the next up for sale. Dunno if that guy is connected.

In happier news, I just saw that East 1st Grocery just got it two El Segundo beers. Hadn’t heard they were going to be distributing to Texas.

El Segundo pint glasses or it didn’t happen.

Pilsners suck fucking ass, imo.

It's not my favorite style either, but if someone is buying them; there's more capital for the good stuff.

Hating pilsners is like hating vagina.  I'm cool if you feel that way, but I sure as fuck don't get it.

This guy fucks. Probably in a barn but nonetheless.

A good pilsner is a thing of beauty.  A shitty pilsner make me sad.

Agreed.  The mark of a shitty pilsner, IMO, is sweetness.  If the first reaction to my palate is sweet over dry, I'm out.
