I probably have it....or will get it.  I've been flying constantly since first of the year.  The number of sick MF'ers out there sneezing and coughing all over the airplanes is ridiculous.  Here's an idea.....if you're f'ing sick, why don't you stay home.....

My wife taught elementary school for a long time, and is still in education.  The amount of parents who willingly send their sick kids to school is staggering.  "Oh, it's just an allergy."  "Oh, it's not much of a fever, he's fine."   etc. etc.

A lot of fucking assholes who don't care if other people's kids get sick.

Man, there are a lot of dipshits on twitter right now, saying don't trust The WHO, CDC, etc. and to pay attention to InfoWars, etc.

For fuck's sake, I'm more than willing to trust Pete Townshend or Roger Daltrey, or the UT Athletics Director over Alex Fucking Jones.

And looking through the timeline, like others said, you olds are fucked.  It seems to be mostly older people.

Dr. in the Brazos County Health District press conference said A&M was notified last night. Seems like an unacceptable lag from the ER sending up the "possible Wuhan Virus" flag to when it was announced publicly.  I need to know who knew what and when they knew it.

Had to wait his turn. Vet school was busy with the head of the corps of cadets.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7920937/Chinese-city-build-dedicated-coronavirus-hospital-SIX-DAYS.html?ito=social-twitter_mailonline

Quote

A Chinese city ravaged by a new deadly virus is planning to build a dedicated hospital in six days in a desperate bid to stop an outbreak of the life-threatening infection, it has been revealed.

The government of Wuhan, a major city by the Yangtze River with a population of 11million, has ordered a state-run construction company to design and build the emergency facility in Caidian District, according to Chinese media.

The institution will reportedly be modelled on a six-acre temporary treatment centre, which was built in Beijing in seven days to tackle SARS in 2003 and had 1,000 beds.

Quote

The report claimed that the urgent task had been given to China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, whose employees are expected to finish designing the hospital tomorrow.

More information of the facility is yet to be released, but the article said it would comprise one-to-two-storey prefab houses.

Wuhan health authorities said today that the number of fever patients had surged and hospitals were seeing long queues and facing shortage of beds.

Shit seems super infectious.

China / Society

China coronavirus: Wuhan medical staff being infected at much faster pace than reported, sources say

Fifteen cases of the coronavirus have been officially reported among medical staff in the city, but doctors say the true number is far higher

One says that ‘even now we don’t have enough protective gear’ but hospital workers have ‘no option’ but to carry on

The Chinese Centre for Disease Control has identified 15 hospital staff as being infected in the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan city, but two sources with direct knowledge of the situation said doctors and nurses were being stricken at a much faster pace.

The outbreak was first reported on December 31, less than four weeks ago, and identified as a previously unidentified pathogen on January 7.

During most of that period, medical staff were treating patients in Wuhan hospitals without confirmation of human-to-human transmission.

One patient – a suspected super-spreader, or highly virulent carrier of the disease – is thought to have infected 14 staff in one hospital alone, Yuen Kwok-yung, a doctor and infectious diseases specialist at Hong Kong University, said at a press conference.

A new BSL‑4-level pathogens lab in the city where this outbreak started? That seems a little odd...
https://www.nature.com/news/inside-the-chinese-lab-poised-to-study-world-s-most-dangerous-pathogens-1.21487

The Wuhan lab cost 300 million yuan (US$44 million), and to allay safety concerns it was built far above the flood plain and with the capacity to withstand a magnitude-7 earthquake, although the area has no history of strong earthquakes. It will focus on the control of emerging diseases, store purified viruses and act as a World Health Organization ‘reference laboratory’ linked to similar labs around the world. “It will be a key node in the global biosafety-lab network,” says lab director Yuan Zhiming.
Future plans include studying the pathogen that causes SARS, which also doesn’t require a BSL-4 lab, before moving on to Ebola and the West African Lassa virus, which do. Some one million Chinese people work in Africa; the country needs to be ready for any eventuality, says Yuan. “Viruses don’t know borders.”

There is at BSL4 at UTMB that works on Ebola. I always thought that was a weird place to put a BSL4 with hurricanes and such. But then I realized that because it’s an island it would be pretty easy to contain by shutting down the bridges. Bottom line is you BOI you might DOI.

Any stock plays people seeing?

Alpha Pro Tech (APT)
Lakeland Industries (LAKE)
BioCryst (BCRX)

Are all up. APT and LAKE are protective equipment (masks, gowns). BCRX has glaidesvir that is apparently effective against coronaviruses.

got to make some money off these boomers.

BBC Update. Add a few more to the DOA count.

Beijing and Hong Kong have cancelled some major festivities to prevent large crowds gathering together.

Wuhan and other cities in Hubei have seen far more draconian measures, with curbs on public transport.

On Friday, Chinese authorities said the death toll had risen to 25, with 830 confirmed cases.

Of the confirmed cases, 177 were in a serious condition and 34 have been "cured and discharged", the National Health Commission said. There are also 1,072 suspected cases, it added.

Almost all of the deaths have been in Hubei. It was the low number of confirmed cases overseas - currently 13 - that was one of the reasons the World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday declined to designate the virus an "international emergency".

"It may yet become one," said the WHO's director-general, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

I’ve seen this mentioned in the Washington Post and others that all travelers originating from Wuhan will have to arrive in the US via LAX, SFO, ATL, ORD, or JFK. The article mentioned routing entire flights to these airports before allowing the flight to continue to its scheduled destination, e.g. PEK to BOS or PEK to IAH.

edit: I wonder how applicable this is considering China has new tried to quarantine the city.

I don't know if the Russian Company, Yunona Holdings, is actively traded but they have a drug, Triazavirin. Otherwise, Genentech/Roche would be a good bet. BioCryst as well is a decent option.

Also a lot of parents who can't take time off work to deal with sick child. Doesn't make it right, still a shitty situation.
