Two cruise ships in Florida means it is most likely already in every Caribbean and Bermuda port. Older cruisers from northern states love back to back cruises to different destinations during the winter.

Masturbation boosts your immune system and raises your white blood cell count.

Sexual arousal and orgasm increase the number of white blood cells in the body, making it easier to fight infection and illness.

How do those effects on the brain from reaching orgasm translate to boosting our immune system and making our body healthier?
The increase of oxytocin and dopamine that causes a decrease in cortisol levels can help boost our immune system because cortisol (well-known for being a stress-inducing hormone) actually helps maintain your immune system if released in small doses.
According to Dr. Jennifer Landa, a hormone-therapy specialist, masturbation can produce the right kind of environment for a strengthened immune system to thrive.
A study conducted by the Department of Medical Psychology at the University Clinic of Essen (in Germany) showed similar results. A group of 11 volunteers were asked to participate in a study that would look at the effects of orgasm through masturbation on the white blood cell count and immune system.
During this experiment, the white blood cell count of each participant was analyzed through measures that were taken 5 minutes before and 45 minutes after reaching a self-induced orgasm.
The results confirmed that sexual arousal and orgasm increased the number of white blood cells, particularly the natural killer cells that help fight off infections.
The findings confirm that our immune system is positively affected by sexual arousal and self-induced orgasm and promote even more research into the positive impacts of sexual arousal and orgasm.
I am bulletproof!!!

here's another perspective....

60 million people died in World War II. On average, 27,000 people perished on each day between the invasion of Poland (September 1, 1939) and the formal surrender of Japan (September 2, 1945).

Today is the 68th day of 2020.  On average, 56 people are perishing each day this year due to the Novel Corona.

Gates Foundation-backed program will soon be issuing home testing kits for COVID-19 in Seattle

Quote

A project funded by the Gates Foundation will soon begin issuing at-home testing kits for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, according to a report in the Seattle Times.

The study, based on a nose-swab should be able to return results in up to two days and will be shared with health officials who can then notify people who test positive. Individuals who have been infected will then be encouraged to answer an online questionnaire to give health officials information about their movements so that those officials can identify and notify other people who may need to be tested or quarantined, according to the Seattle Times report.

“Although there’s a lot to be worked out, this has enormous potential to turn the tide of the epidemic,” Scott Dowell, who leads the coronavirus response effort from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation told the Seattle Times.

A project funded by the Gates Foundation will soon begin issuing at-home testing kits for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, according to a report in the Seattle Times.

The Gates Foundation isn’t the only entity moving quickly to develop at home test kits. In a Twitter thread on Saturday, serial healthcare entrepreneur Jonathan Rothenberg outlined a similar approach, and is apparently now in discussions with a manufacturer on how to bring it to market.

Thinking about a low cost easy to manufacture home test kit for #Coronavirus. Outline: #Nasal_swab (Q-tip) w/ freeze dried reagents for isothermal #DNA amplification with #COVID19 primers. Colorimetric readout by #iOS or #Android #App w/ #geolocation & #HIPPA compliant reporting.

Seattle and the surrounding area has been the epicenter for the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. The state has confirmed 71 cases and 15 deaths from the disease as of Saturday. At least one health expert estimates that Seattle could have as many as 600 cases, based on computational modeling.

“One of the most important things from our perspective, having watched and worked on this in other parts of the world, is the identification of people who are positive for the virus, so they can be safely isolated and cared for, and the identification of their contacts, who can then be quarantined,” Dowell told the Seattle Times.

The project to do develop at-home testing evolved from a two-year-old research project from the University of Washington  that was intended to track the spread of diseases like influenza, according to the Times reporting.

All told, the Gates Foundation has poured about $20 million into the effort. The foundation has also committed $5 million to the local response efforts to combat the disease in the area — including the expansion of testing and analysis.

Scary stuff if true. Younger deaths would seem to indicate that underlying health doesn’t matter OR a healthy immune system attacks its own body. The latter is what caused many deaths in 1918.

I have been trying not to draw too many comparisons to 1918, but goddamn we are pacing it pretty closely. It's really makes me concerned about us weathering the spring to make it to summer where it'll go dormant and then come back at full force during the fall.

I wonder if the second "strain" is what they saw initially in Wuhan that was so much worse than the one that generally is out and about today

Not only cruise ships, but it seeems Princess line cruise ships.  There are about a dozen other cruise lines, none of which seem to be affected.

You'd think Carnival's plague vessels would be the worst.

Well no it was the Spanish FLU in 1918. And while the coronavirus isn't influenza, it's epidemiology has been strikingly similar to 1918.

It's not just that a tweet is driving the discussion, the 1918 flu pandemic was the last time a viral infection swept the globe and infected a significant portion of the population. It's called looking at history you fucking moron, we study for a reason.

But sure, stick your head in the sand and ignore history, reality, and where they look suspiciously familiar.

Going to tap dance around the CR here.  If people with very big megaphones would stop saying its overblown by the media, or a hoax, or that you should turn your TVs off, maybe the entire country would take it seriously.  There are a lot of followers in this country, so their leaders should all be on the same sheet of music as the medical experts.

I watched 5 minutes of Jim Baker this AM while I packed my kid's lunch. First time I've ever watched it. In no apparent order, this is what his guest was saying, some dbag who was trying to sell his self-published book. In no apparent order:

1.) Trump, while not an openly godly man (he struggled with the term), is our buttress against the "Evil People" trying to gain power. These Evil People are hoping to tank the economy and push out Trump, just like 08 which guaranteed a win for Obama and "We all know what happened then."
2.) The Coronavirus is a test from God, and we will be spared if we let prayer into our hearts, and start LEGISLATING prayer into our justice system and everywhere else. We need a nation God can support, and if we don't we will go the way of Sodom and Gomorrah as that's why God smote them.

Honestly, there was more but I think I was in shock and disgust listening. And no, this isn't to Cloak Room it up, but I think it's important that programs like this is where a fuck ton of old people get their information and have their opinions shaped. Shit like this. Nevermind the factual inaccuracies of this shithead being incapable of correctly referencing the fucking Bible, or the casual dismissal of our constitution and our Bill of Rights, this shit informs people's opinions. That is terrifying.

They then did a great job transitioning into the sale of Jim Baker's 60 Day meal bucket, though. Fuck.

So my tinfoil hat fits great.  I am wondering if this is mostly just a mild flu for Gen X through Z why we don’t seem to see hours of footage of positive-testing Italians bored and restless as they healthily wait out the quarantine period.

Why don’t the propaganda-minded Iranians show me some positive bullshit to sell me that their amazing Islamic paradise has this on lock?

i would expect more Trump-like rhetoric from the usual places around the globe.  But I’m either missing it or it’s not happening.

Hard to send the kids to school this morning.

It’s hard not to feel that people who continue to knowingly listen to and believe a convicted fraudster should have certain decisions taken away from them.

We are supposed to take an Alaska cruise on a Princess ship in July and I’m seriously doubting now - four months in advance - the likelihood of that happening.

I’m sure Alaska’s healthcare system could handle an additional few hundred coronavirus patients from a cruise ship, right?

Chest CT, a routine imaging tool for pneumonia diagnosis, is fast and relatively easy to perform. Recent research found that the sensitivity of CT for COVID-19 infection was 98% compared to RT-PCR sensitivity of 71%.

Sensitive? Yes. Specific? Not at all. The differential diagnosis for CT findings is about 10 things long. Community acquired pneumonia, pneumonitis, interstitial lung disease all have similar findings and are much more common. It’s more of a tool to judge severity and evaluate treatment than to diagnose.

This quote has been floating around, and it’s spot on

”"Everything we do before a pandemic will seem alarmist. Everything we do after will seem inadequate"

I still feel comfortable added a 0 to these numbers
