i'm disproving your statement that italian males smoke at a rate double that of italian women.  as a matter of fact, in NO age group does that occur.

First, I used the word "almost" for a reason. In a number of the groupings, the numbers are pretty fucking imbalanced when I reviewed the same link you posted, before I posted. I get the fun in telling someone else how wrong they are and such, so if that's the game, fine, I didn't bust out a calculator and some of the older groups are closer than "almost double" and you can have the win.

That considered, my point was that smoking has to matter with this illness, right? Now, maybe you see otherwise and since we don't have some sort of clinical study proving things one way or another, that's your prerogative. I'm having a hard time believing that the disease is just picking more frequently on the Y chromosome. I know some diseases do that in either direction, but it seems pretty plausible that if smoking matters, there'd be a gender skew in pretty much every country, because more men smoke than women, and it's usually a big spread.

PEOPLE. ARE. STUPID.

Have a customer in the store right now to pick up his trailer. Walks in with a god damn mask on and tells the salesman that he got tested but hasn't got the results back yet. But yet he thought it was a good idea to come up here to pick up his new piece of shit trailer. We told him we would do video walk through for him and the finance lady said she'd sit the paper work outside so his mom can sign for him, but he wasn't getting close to anybody.

This just pisses me off to no end. How dumb can you be?? "oh i might have it but i don't know yet so let me get out in public" Idiot.

Most likely not an N95 mask either. If not that; bad for him, you, and everyone else that he is around as it does not block (either in or out) the smallest particles that may be transmitted by sneezes or coughs.

We screen all our calls on the landline & mobiles, and don't ever answer the scammers. Wish I could program my voicemail to recognize the scammers and just tell them to fuck off.

There's an app that does this.

It looked like a cheap ass mask. Luckily, i was in service way in the back looking at him from about 50ft. away. The maybe one person who was "close" to him, I don't usually talk to him anyway.

I've made a list of my neighbors, and ranking them in preparation of going full Donner Party.

Anybody else doing this?

Question: are you ranking by weight? easiest kill? Or vegan diet (aka grass fed for taste)?

Yes.  I’m also factoring their amount of hair, total body hair or TBH, because my TP is getting dangerously low.

Hey man, sometimes you have to do what you have to do. As a fixture of my last job I met multiple times and wound up on a first name basis with one of the survivors of the Andes plane crash from 1972 (The movie Alive! is loosely based off of this). Phenomenal person, and he knows what human flesh tastes like. I personally never want to have to make that decision, but people have before and lived to see the other side because of it.

Any numbers from Denver? Seems like they've been doing mass testing about the longest.

Read something from my cousin (Denver resident) that the high country has been hit much, much harder than Denver County at this point.

Man. Went to HEB. Had to wait in line for an hour - still no fucking paper towels. I wish trump would throw me some.

This the most aggravating thing. They tell people not to hoard this shit but did all the early hoarders buy all TP and paper towels and it hasn't been adequately restocked? Everything else has caught up.

are the dispensaries considered essential business? 🤔 i mean,  it's legitimately medical right?

Honestly, it's not been determined.

Quote

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s been no official statement from the state level in Colorado about marijuana's standing among essential and non-essential businesses as people are told to stay home.

So far, it's been more about what Governor Jared Polis and state health officials haven't said. Recent executive orders from Polis, the state Department of Public Health and Environment and most local governments haven't yet listed dispensaries among the businesses forced to temporarily close per state or local orders, which so far include gyms, theaters, casinos, spas, barbershops and salons, tattoo and massage parlors, horse tracks and onsite consumption at bars and restaurants.

Despite the cloudy future, dispensaries are planning ahead to keep serving consumers, especially medical marijuana patients.

They've been labeled essential in California, New York and Pennsylvania.

200 tests in Dallas in one day...What a joke. We should be doing 20,000 a day in each city.

interesting you say that, know how many countries are doing 20k / day total?

I believe South Korea topped out at about 18k / day

2 days ago The Guardian said France was at about 2500 / day

Germany is at 12k tests / day

it looks like from Thur to Friday, about 35k tests were "completed" per here: https://covidtracking.com/us-daily/

let's say that there were 20k tests / day in each of the 14 cities in the US with 1+ million people. That would be 280,000 tests DAILY.

set reasonable goals.

20k tests / city / day isn't reasonable.

South Korea was doing about 18k tests / day at max - our population is about 6.4x larger so if we did it at this rate it would be 115,200 / day which is also not reasonable.

the goal should just be to get as many tests done per day as possible.

Yep, the resort areas got crushed.  And closed early, which is going to kill them economically.  A-Basin laid off all of its 400+ seasonal staff.  Anyone coming from the resorts have to go into 14 day quarantine.

What’s the test capacity?  If each test takes  only 5 minutes to process, that would be 100,000 work minutes, or 1667 work hours.   You’d need 70 instruments working 24/7 to keep from falling behind.
plus reagents needed.  For one city.

If you are not a medical professional please stop posting your “fixes” to a Covid Virus infection unless you have cited proof. Not some half ass small sample non blind study that hasn’t been replicated. Conjecturing about off label treatments for other medications is fair.

And please don’t tell us you’re convinced you have Covid if you haven’t been formally diagnosed. I have been involved in personally testing dozens of people and the vast majority with URI symptoms are still testing negative for now. So chances are your headache and sore throat isn’t Covid.

If I have one more MF text me about this type of ‘I’m sure I have it’ shit or better yet try to get me to order them a test even though they don’t meet criterion I’m gonna go TxTow on their ass.

Wait, was TxTow the pederast?  I can’t remember.  But you guys get the point.

It seems like a no-brainer if you want to keep people calm while telling them they have to stay inside.

Don't try to confuse us with your sorceror's ways, Pato del Muerte.

Sounds like we are still extremely limited on the number of tests we can administer when they're turning people away if they're younger than 65 unless they've had direct contact with somebody else who has tested positive already. (Or maybe I'm out of date on that.) Just seems like that is a recipe for disaster.

Oh trust me, about 3 people were on it after he walked out the door. Actually i'm surprised they weren't spraying him down while he was in the store.

Just to add to the story, this dumb fuck calls up here about 20min later asking "i just wanted to make sure this trailer has steps already on it". Yep, no one should ever question how this shit is getting spread so quickly.

I was out skiing Breck in mid-late feb. Got home and had a weird dry cough for a night, really slight fever, diarrhea, was tired for a few days (attributed to parting and not getting a lot of sleep) and a scratchy throat that lingered.   It went through house the next week...

I DON'T think I had Covid, but HOPE that was it because that would mean my family is kinda out of the woods.   I've had asthma as a child through my late teens when I outgrew it.  But colds and flu usually go straight to my lungs / chest infection.  So it would be nice to dodge the bullet and also would mean that my teens of their spring break could help people in need.

Still I'm not tempting fate,  staying isolated as much as possible.

Ethical dilemma. These reports of hydroxychloroquine being effective look promising but right now it's completely on back order. I'm getting a ton of orders from physicians for it as prophylaxis for them and staff. I have lupus patients who need this drug and I have no idea how long this shortage is going to last. I'm going to save 90 days worth for my patients and the rest I really don't want to dispense unless it's a confirmed positive test. Any problem with my logic? Feel free to shoot holes through this plan. I want the local area to be prepared but I can't leave my lupus patients out high and dry.
