So in BCS they won't say what flight the infected kid was on.  They won't say what ER hospital he went to.

So I had a flight Thursday night to BCS, I got Sick Sunday and went to the ER in BCS for other reasons and I am still in the hospital after having some surgery.  I get discharged today.  Now I am sitting in my room here listening to every cough like WTF was that!!??

I'm about to hop on a flight to SFO. Please make sure there's money in the wreath fund. Take care of my wife and children. I'll see all of you on the other side.
Update: the coronavirus may not have time to kill me, because I think my Uber driver to the airport is going to take care of that.
Getting stuck under a gas truck thats the worst...i have this cousin, well had this cousin...and e6e27921789db4a2aa328e808ae66060.jpg

Want a bright future? Ya better wear shades.

A top medic who contracted Coronavirus says the deadly respiratory disease is so contagious it can be transmitted through the eyes.

Wang Guangfa, who was a leading figure in helping China fight Sars in 2003, himself caught the virus but has since recovered.

Mr Wang says he believes he became infected because he did not have protective eyewear.

The respiratory specialist at Beijing’s Peking University First Hospital had reportedly been ridiculed in some parts of the media after he contracted the disease despite saying it was “preventable and controllable” two weeks ago.

The expert has now claimed that he may have contracted the disease because of a lack of eye protection when visiting fever clinics and isolation wards in Wuhan, in Hubei province, where the outbreak emerged.

That China Flu subreddit is somewhat disturbing yet I keep on going back to read more.

On the one hand, in that subreddit, you get solid links to western and non-Chinese reporters who are tweeting from Wuhan and surrounding areas, and the place is not at the level of The Walking Dead.  There is not even a massive military presence within the city, and most of that is on the perimeter dealing with roadblocks, or moving medical supplies in.

But then you get a bunch of Alex Jones InfoWars Qanon dipshits who are claiming that only 1% of those with the virus have been diagnosed, and that the mortality rate is SARS-level or above, and that there are thousands of people dead.  But the families have been ordered by the government to leave the bodies in their homes/apartments/etc. so that westerners don't find out, because it's embarrassing.

It's like "Hello, grandma probably died of the coronavirus, can you come take her away?"

"We don't have enough manpower to pick her up right now, we will have to wait to take her away."

"What are we supposed to do?"

"Well, you must keep her inside your tiny little apartment, we don't want westerners seeing bodies outside"

"You want us to remain in an enclosed space with a decomposing body of somebody who died from a contagious disease.  What are you going to do if we don't?"

"We'll arrest you!"

"The bitch is on the curb, bring your handcuffs in a few months when you have the manpower."

The doc in the Brazos county press conference yesterday said that they would know in about 24 hours if it was confirmed or not...And he said they would release a statement either way.  Nothing from the county, A&M, or the CDC.    Damn it, I can only hit F5 for so long.

Furk. Welp, looks like Baylor's next.  maybe OU can get in on this.

Tech is hitching their pants up, and saying “hold my beer”.  Or TCU.

It was mentioned that the incubation period was long(ish) prior to showing symptoms. But once one is sick, and presumably doesn't end up at the curb, how long is the recovery? Is that published anywhere? LIke with the flu, you are sick as a dog for a week and then begin to get better and assuming no secondary infections are usually feeling better each day until two weeks out everything is back to normal.

This article is from 1/22 so not sure if already posted. Alludes to official numbers being kept low by calling cases severe pneumonia.

nah, you eat bat soup and die...

I am tracking this for a few clients and right now the information out there is changing fast. Seeing reports of 3 cases in France, but 2 hours ago there were none.

Go have a margarita and put a corona on the side.

Well alcohol may have some antiseptic qualities so don't mind if I do.

The Philippines deported 500 Chinese from Wuhon who flew in on chartered planes.

No confirmed cases here yet, but sanitation is terrible here in the provinces. If it hits it could be bad. And we are still waiting for the big explosion of Task volcano.

Have fun.  Ignore the batshit Alex Jones/Qanon shit.   Thankfully, they’ve got real epidemiologists involved in that subreddit, and a decently solid moderation team, and they are trying to flush the nutters out.

Look for the stickied or official threads at the top.

People are all freaking out about this thing meanwhile good old influenza keeps doing its thing which is killing ~90 people in the US every single day (much less the whole world)

i hear ya. i wish when going over this type of shit (bat flu like this or bat zombies or whatever) that they always communicate with some reference to business as usual (the flu or regular zombies). i know thats a lot to ask but somehow i think it would be a good way to keep things in perspective.

I’ve never understood how the public can be fooled each year into panic over swine flu, bird flu, sars, whatever while the regular flu and pneumonia kill thousands and nobody reports it.
