It’s the Trump Crash.  That shit needs to be all over Twitter.  Every WH correspondent who asks Trump or his lackeys about the economy needs to use those exact words: “What is the administration doing to address the Trump Crash in the market?”  “Will the Fed be taking any action to stop the Trump Crash?”  “Why haven’t you been able to reassure investors to slow down the Trump Crash, Mr President?”

I thought it was the Trump Slump.  Because Slump rhymes with Trump.  Trump Slump.

The majority of America isn't really walkable. A good portion of this country is too unhealthy to lug groceries for a mile or two. Auto repair is essential to some extent. Real opportunities for mobile mechanic services.

It doesn’t have to be clever or cute.  You’re not dealing with the hip intelligentsia here.  Straight to the point, and unambiguous: “Trump Crash.”  Just like Trump would do (“Chinese Virus,” “Little Marco,” “Crazy Bernie”).

His followers often say they like him because “he talks just like us!”  What they mean is his language is simple, direct, and lacks any nuance.    What he says is what he means.  And he says it in little 2-word ear worms that he repeats over and over and over again.  They are almost always bullshit, unfair, simplistic, etc, etc.  But morons eat them up and Trump’s little sound bites end up driving the beliefs and behavior of his cult.

Think of Trumpisms as a virus that infects the brains of 35% of Americans.  How do you fight a virus?  With a vaccine, which is itself a benign version of the virus you’re trying to protect against.  “Trump Crash” is one such vaccine.

My concern are the plumbers, linemen, emergency personnel, and all the rest of the essential parts of society that we don't see until we gotta have them. It's a stone cold fact that old beater trucks break down and that's what we, the sweaty and grimy, most likely have to drive.

Remember you guys, 46% approve of the job that Il Douche has done with this crisis. If that survey is accurate.

That's higher than his overall approval rate, right?

People haven't started dropping dead on the doorsteps of hospitals yet.  Thus, there are still morons in that 46% who think this is a hoax or overblown.  God forbid it takes that kind of crisis to get through to these shitheads.

You're not accounting for the several hundred thousand voters he's going to 'lose'.  Many right in his wheelhouse.

Oh no, they've moved on -- this is a manufactured pandemic by China and Democrats because they're furious about tariffs.

Asked if domestic travel restrictions are still under consideration, he said, "We’re not really. We hope we don’t have to. We think that hopefully, we won’t have to do that. But it’s certainly something we talk about every day. We haven’t made that decision."

Does anyone have a clue what in hell trump's saying here?  And that's a rhetorical question, because he's saying absolutely nothing.

Car dealerships make most of their money from their service departments, at least good ones do.  That's a big part of why they don't want to lose their mechanics.

No doubt. The essentials are simple enough: water, food, shelter, medicine, power. There are a lot of people that are essential to the essentials.

And a big reason why they are against electric cars. But that’s for another thread.

Last Thursday, as the stock market was on the way to losing nearly 2,400 points—its biggest single-day plunge since the 1987 Black Monday crash—Donald Trump was worrying about the fate of the football season. NFL players aren’t scheduled to report to training camp for months, but according to a source, Trump feared that the league might preemptively announce it was following the NBA and NHL and suspend or delay operations due to the coronavirus. So Trump called NFL owners to see if any action was on the horizon. “Trump begged them not to cancel the season,” a source briefed on the call said.

Trump’s concern for the NFL’s well-being was a stark reversal given that he spent the first two years of his presidency attacking the league and its kneeling players. It reflected Trump’s magical thinking that he could manage the coronavirus pandemic by convincing people life would remain normal and sports would be played. (Last week, Trump also spoke with Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White and advised him not to cancel UFC events.) “Trump thinks this is a media problem,” a Republican close to the White House told me. Treating COVID-19 as a public-relations crisis put Trump at odds with the medical community, including the White House’s chief coronavirus adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci. During an interview on Meet the Press this weekend, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases urged the United States to move toward a national lockdown similar to the actions taken by Italy and Spain. “I think we should really be overly aggressive and get criticized for overreacting,” Fauci said.

With the markets in free fall despite emergency action by the Fed over the weekend, Trump is waking up to the reality that’s been clear to everyone: Coronavirus poses a once-in-a-hundred-years threat to the country. “In the last 48 hours he has understood the magnitude of what’s going on,” a former West Wing official told me. As Trump processes the stakes facing the country—and his presidency—he’s also lashing out at advisers, whom he blames for the White House’s inept and flat-footed response. Sources say a principal target of his anger is Jared Kushner. “I have never heard so many people inside the White House openly discussed how pissed Trump is at Jared,” the former West Wing official said.

Why not both? It's simultaneously a condition that originated in China (which they lied and covered up) and the President's callous and idiotic son-in-law cares more for the economy over human life and well-being. It can definitely be both.

Silvio Brusaferro, the president of Italy’s Higher Institute of Health, said on Friday that the average age of coronavirus victims was 80.3, with the majority having suffered underlying illnesses. The most common additional health issue was arterial hypertension followed by chronic heart disease, atrial fibrillation and cancer.

More than 70% of those who have died were men. The two 39-year-old victims were a man with diabetes and a woman with cancer. The vast majority of deaths have been in the northern Lombardy region (1,420 as of Monday night), followed by Emilia-Romagna (346) and Veneto (69).

Heard on KXAN this morning that Adler will be holding a press conference at 11AM to announce closing of Austin bars & restaurants. Round Rock is following suit.

The lines at fast food restaurants in a week are going to make the HEB lines look tame by comparison. Not a problem for us as my wife & I cook all the time, but we have friends who eat out 5 nights a week & order in the other two. It's stunning how many people don't know how to prepare their own meals.
