Reporter asking about the rallies. Pence just said he believes the Tulsa positivity rate declined today.

Ddale ought to check that because it was going up last time I checked. Plus all the people from out of town that returned home...

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. Have you ever worked retail?  There are lots and lots and lots of stupid people.  I think most of us underestimate just how many and how stupid because most people here come from a relatively small population segment, middle to upper middle class college educated Texans.

I have, and I agree.  I just don't remember them all being this angry all the time.  In my admittedly flawed memory, even the majority of the not so smart folks were still polite, still relatively gracious.  Now they are all just damn angry and constantly offended.

It's stunning how inept the average American is at discerning differences between various data sets.

Outdoor activity + crowds + masks = relatively low transmission

Indoor activity + crowds = higher transmission, especially if masks aren't nearly universal

Gah . . . can you imagine being a pilot or a flight attendant?  "Come back to work, virtually guarantee the fact that you will get sick, or you're fired."

My stepdaughter is an "aesthetician" -- she does lashes for wealthy women.  It's tedious, detail-oriented work (that pays well).  It puts her in direct face-to-face contact with the client.  Her lash studio reopened a few weeks ago, and she was offered the opportunity to return.  She refused.  Now, she can't accept unemployment because she would have to lie on the question about "have you received any job offers since you were furloughed?"

"Well, yeah, I received an offer to jump off cell towers with a bedsheet, and and one that will probably ensure I'll get sick.  Guess I'm out of luck."

Not sure I'm completely getting it, but maybe I should have clarified.  It seems with the advent of Limbaugh and right wing "news" outlets, the less intelligent have some sort of continual 'anger' that is always on display.

Now, if you're saying electing a black man as President increased that anger and sense of misplaced outrage, I agree.  Otherwise, I'm not getting the joke.

I think what is being said is that, they behaved themselves for the most part while he was in office, and probably would have  continued to do so had anyone but Trump been elected.

Ah, damn I'm slow.  Perhaps I will read a bit more and post a bit less today.  Thank you, that makes sense as well.  This continual outrage thing is starting to wear on me a bit.  Outrage over haircuts, masks, immigrants, MS-13, whatever.

edit:  not that there aren't reasons to be angry, it just seems there is a real constant anger that is misplaced in its direction.

When Obama took office, Facebook usage was 5% of what it was when Trump took office.  Those people were already pissed, we just didn't know so much about it.

That anger was there long before Rush.  He just capitalized on it.

I lied.  Another good author quote re: idiots.

Yeah, I don't get this either. We have nearly 10 million cases of infection, and people making lots of scare porn based on n of one anecdotal reports and cases, whether that relates to re-infection or lung transplants or whatever.

I think it's some doc in MN or somewhere up north who is relating those n of ones to the fact that people can and do get the flu each year by coronoviruses, therefore he concludes that ALL coronaviruses are known to NOT elicit sustained immunity. I think by now the medical field should stop believing shit about coronaviruses not named SARS-Cov-2 should apply to the latter. That's the myths begin and spread faster than the virus itself.

Based on my own personal experience, old white guys and fat White women are much angrier nowadays than they used to be.

This angry old white guy in the neighborhood literally ran full sprint at my car the other day telling me to SLOW DOWN! Now I admit I was going 5 mph over the speed limit on a busy road, but shit, if the dude had tripped he would have face planted into my right side door. The next day some other old white dude told me to slow down even though I was 2 mph under the speed limit.

Then a week or so ago was at the Y waiting  outside for my turn to swim laps when this pasty fat bitch with her kids absolutely refused to wear a mask or get her temperature taken or of her kids before entering. Caused a huge scene.

The anger that has been brought on by social media in the last 10 years doesn't see sides just sheep. Lots and lots of sheep.

Being positive is lame, it's sooooo much cooler to be an asshole and yell and scream about shit. Even when you have no idea what you are talking about or finish a rant with "I saw it on FB, twitter, Fox, CNN, etc."

Mindless sheep.

There’s profit in anger and fear. Rupert, Rush and fox figured that in the 80s and 90s.

Our government meanwhile has sat back and allowed it to happen. Hmm. Wonder why that is?

The room should have been filled with laughter during each of those comments. It's time we stop catering to the dumbasses and start ridiculing them to their faces.

Social media is literally tearing the fabric of our society apart. It's a tool for psychological manipulation, whether intentioned or not.  We are not a resilient people.
