Anyone make golden milk?  It’s great for you, tastes good, and easy to make.  Lots of science behind it.  The main ingredient is turmeric, which contains curcumin, and has, among other benefits, anti-viral properties.

Black pepper is essential to golden milk as it increases absorption curcumin.

I nuke a cup of milk and then stir in turmeric, pepper, honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg to make mine.

I may still get the flu, but this stuff will still be helping to lower my cholesterol, inflammation, and prevent Alzheimer’s.

Apparently this virus spreads quickly because people spend too much time touching their faces, mouths, noses, and eyes. In order to stop this behavior, the government suggests touching other things instead.

Mike Pence suggests touching your penis and then feeling really bad about it.

Joe Biden suggests touching other people, especially babies.

Donald Trump suggests grabbing pussies and then denying you did it. If you publicly support him he'll give you a pardon.

Bernie Sanders suggests touching rich people and then taking their wallets.

Amazing, that you posted, and edited that, and still believed it was funny.

This morning's news from Seattle

Quote

I live in Seattle, I have all symptoms of COVID-19 and have a history of chronic bronchitis.

Since I work in a physical therapy clinic with many 65+ patients and those with chronic illnesses, I decided to be responsible and go to get tested. This is how that went.

I called the Corona hotline, was on hold for 40 minutes and gave up.

So I looked at the CDC and Washington public health websites. They told me to see a primary care doctor, but there's no information about testing.

I called 2 primary care doctors. One told me they don't know where to get testing, and that I should not to seek out testing. The other one told me to go to an urgent care or ER.

I called the Urgent Care, they also had no idea where tests are, but told me to call the hospital.

I called the hospital. They do not have tests, but transferred me to the COVID-19 hotline to "answer my questions". Since I was transferred on a medical provider line, I actually got through. Progress!

The lady with the hotline was very kind and professional and understood my concern about my own health and those at my clinic. (Which is currently being sanitized). However, I was told I do not qualify for testing. And I was not given a timeline or info on current resources.

So. Who does qualify? Those who have been out of the country in the last 14 days, and those who have had contact with one of the few people who have been tested and come up positive. That's it.

The only way I can get treated is if my symptoms get so bad I develop pneumonia or bronchitis, which is very likely in my case. Then I'll be in the ER and quarantined for several days while waiting for a test and for the results to come back.

This is all incredibly frustrating because I am trying to do everything right in a system that punishes moments of "weakness" like taking days off.

It's also scary to know that I won't be able to get help until I need life support.

I'm not sure which thread to put this in. Lots of poll workers didn't show up today in Travis County causing long lines.

The Travis County clerk’s office said fears of catching the new coronavirus are causing mass chaos at voting locations across the county at the start of Super Tuesday.

Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said 11 people, including judges who were responsible for opening some of the 175 polling locations across the county Tuesday, did not show up for work out of fear of catching the new coronavirus. DeBeauvoir said this was on top of the 31 judges who also said last week they would not come to operate the polls out of fear of catching the virus or another sickness.

“A significant number of election judges called up and said they quit,” DeBeauvoir said. “They had a variety of excuses. They just decided they did not want to do this and decided the news was scaring them, so last night we were on the phone with the parties trying to get more workers.”

DeBeauvoir said it usually takes six, but no less than three, judges and poll workers to operate just one polling location. The county clerk’s Office worked all morning to find replacements, however, while they were doing so other workers were also abandoning their posts once they realized there were not enough workers to open for voting.

As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, DeBeauvoir said Travis County had 164 vacancies after using up all of its emergency backup workers. However, all of the polling locations were now back open and running, according to the county clerk.

As far as wait times, DeBeauvoir said she had no idea how long it was taking for someone to cast their vote.

“The elections will go on,” DeBeauvoir said. “They always do.”

The county clerk said she now believes the new coronavirus, which has become a global health crisis with at least 10 people quarantined in Texas, is being used to disrupt the 2020 primary election.

“Nothing like this has ever happened before ... Fortunately, we have backup plans,” she said.

Considering the number of poll workers who are retired, and therefore likely in an "at risk" demographic, that shouldn't surprise people.

This would be a good time to urge people to apply for vote-by-mail for the general, assuming your state does this.

Anyone else think Pence was set up to be the fall guy by Trump? Given how unprepared and poorly handled the response has been so far, it just seems like Pence is there to be the person Trump can blame things on.

Why blame Pence when you've got Soros and the Dems?

We got 2 more in the Czech Republic today.  The good news is that both are people who were in close contact with the previously known cases.  The bad news is that they all traveled to the ČR from Italy, so no telling how many other people they interact with during the incubation period.

Yes. Many people think so. The thought is Trump wants to replace Trump with Nikki Haley for the election.

last year,  trump wanted to nuke hurricanes.

this year, trump wanted to give people flu vaccines and say they will stop corona.

good god, how come conservatives can’t seem to realize or figure out that this man is a dumb ass and in over his head?

It's a common theory that I don't really agree with.  I think Trump realizes he is well over his head, and just throwing word salad bombs just makes things worse with the press, so he put Pence in charge.  The other time he did this was after he abandoned the Kurds and the love letter to the Turkish President was discovered.  Trump can talk about immigration, or health care, or taxes and get away with really vague rhetoric where he is blaming the Democrats.  But, with Covid-19, he is expected to actually remember some basic facts and explain current actions, without the weird off-script ramblings.  And while Pence may not actually being doing any different, he at least knows how to talk like a political leader.

He’s criminally stupid and dangerously unfit. The lack of widespread testing will lead to unnecessary deaths in this country. Good thing the fucking fed was cutting rates - that will contain the virus and prevent the fallout from a worldwide pandemic.

Even just his basic rhetoric trivializing the outbreak will cause deaths, because Trumpsters will be less likely to wash their hands, less likely to avoid contact, less likely to call in sick, etc..

The lack of test kits - in a normal presidency, that would be a typical scandal in basic government/admin incompetence.  How much to blame on the President, based on who he delegated the responsibility to, would be a major point of discussion.  But, to simply acknowledge the seriousness of it is cheap and easy, and he can't even do that.  And it's all him.

Unprepared and poorly handled? What are you talking about? Things are going great. Just look at these top tweets.

I was on my way to Costco in a cargo van when that press release was issued. I pulled over with tears in my eyes. Donald's got this and my most trusted representatives agree.

Coronavirus is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more, I notice.

Because they don't believe in science either.

Frankly I'm surprised the official response to this hasn't been thoughts and prayers.

I wish we could limit the virus spread from Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, then all the way down to Florida, but skipping Virginia.

oh yeah and the Midwest. the dakotas, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.

Conversely, the absence of testing is currently occurring in highly populated cities and the incidence of outbreaks that follows will be in those cities. (which is perfectly fine from the GOP perspective since they trend blue and the President doesn't care). One thing the WH may not have thought of though is that the rural areas above (the 'red' states) may suffer more in the fall as the virus has had time to get out and about.

The virus also tends to mainly kill people in trumps age demographic tho. He kicks butt with the old people vote. An old fart dying in the suburbs or the city could still be a trump voter.

heck, I live in a suburb and when I went to go early vote. Everyone else in there was blue haired except for me  and they were probably all trumpers too.
