Your last paragraph is spot on.

Of course there are people paid to astroturf on here. Think about how much it costs? Virtually nothing.

So we are kind of a big deal after all?

So we're just not talking about the fact that the Lt. Gov. of Idaho just rolls around that state in her unmarked, blacked-out creepy 80's Econonline Van?  Who takes their hunting vehicle to the after-market shop and says, "I'm a high ranking public official, so give my van the 'John Wayne Gacy' package please."

Having said that, I would like to know if Rep. Prescilla Giddings (1:20 mark) would like to get busy in the back of that van with me.

We’re number 8 in deaths per million (excluding Andorra and San Marino which have 50k type populations). We are catching up to Ecuador at 7

Someone posted this on our neighborhood page on Facebook.

Cute and effective way to participate in Trick or Treating and stay (relatively) Covid free.

It’s just laughable. Someone in Trumps circle gave an interview to a certified foreign adversary news station from the fucking White House

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills

Trump has weaponized the stupidity of the masses, and social media has made it virulent.  If the EU authorities can't get shit under control, things are going to get real ugly, real quick in the EU.

Fresh lockdowns to stem the spread of the coronavirus have sparked sometimes violent protests in several European countries, fuelled both by ideological fury at new government-imposed restrictions and fears of economic hardship.

As the number of infections surge and hospitals and intensive care units fill up, countries including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain have once more introduced tough curbs on movement and gatherings.

But the measures are stirring resistance, not just among libertarians who see them as an assault on personal freedom and conspiracy theorists who say the virus is a hoax, but from business owners and independent workers worried for their future.

Not sure if this has been talked about, because I haven't kept up w/this thread.

But in Oregon, Kate Brown last week announced lowering the benchmarks for kids to go back to school in person.  There was no scientific reasoning for lowering them. The actual reasoning is everyone has decided that no matter the risk in person schooling is better for the kids.  Of course, there's probably also the fact that some de facto child care is needed, but hey.

So why the fuck did we have these benchmarks in the first place, then?  Has it all been bullshit?  Because as Oregon's case numbers go higher and higher it really reads like giving up.

Evangelical Who Says Prayers Block COVID Has COVID

November 2, 2020 Christianists, Coronavirus

Hemant Mehta reports at The Friendly Atheist:

Back in March, right-wing pastor Rick Joyner, the head of MorningStar Ministries, claimed that the United States and South Korea had the lowest COVID-19 death rates in the world because those two countries “are the two strongest nations in prayer.”

That wasn’t true… but that’s what he said. Since that time, South Korea has seen a grand total of 468 COVID deaths while the U.S. (“We’re #1”) has topped 236,000 deaths.

But Joyner’s basic premise was that prayer was a way to defeat the virus. That’s going to be shocking to (*checks notes*) Rick Joyner, who just tested positive for COVID.

It’s been about 4 decades since my last Southern Baptist Sunday School, but isn’t “Morningstar” another name, or a translation of the name, Lucifer?

Seems like an interesting choice to name your organization Morningstar Ministries.

Yes, Morningstar is another name for Lucifer. Both were different translations from the Hebrew word heylel, which referenced planet Venus that fell from the heaven to the underworld.

This isn’t adjusted for population. What does that look like?

EU population ~ 447m, US population ~ 328m, so divide the EU number by 1.36 to get a fair comparison to the US number.  That's about 150k for the EU vs 81k for the U.S.  They've got a real problem, which is why they're trying to re-institute lockdowns.
