interesting race concludes today the Texas House race in will most likely never allow the winner to cast a vote given its an off year.  However the real story is that this begins the November battle for the Texas House majority.  According to this article, this seat is #16 on the Dems target list for November.

I don't see how the GOP doesn't retain the seat but the real focus is on the win percentage.  Sounds like millions have been spent including help from the national parties.

Given the national attention, I wonder if John King would fire up the election map.  Probably not for a local district race but one can still hope.

Big reminder:

DEADLINE TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN THE TEXAS PRIMARY IS FEBRUARY 3, 2020. IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO IS NOT REGISTERED, YOUNG OR OLD, TALK TO THEM ABOUT REGISTERING.

IF YOU ARE REGISTERED, CHECK YOUR STATUS!!

Just for funs, I googled "voter registration status check" and the first link that came up was for www.vote.org.

https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/

I entered my info and it said I was not registered.  I then went to the actual Texas Secretary of State page and of course it showed my registration was active.  So much bad info out there.

I have friends out there. A buddy’s wife said she voted for the first time because she didn’t want socialist taking over Katy 😂😂😂😂😂

It would be worth it for the freakout by the Cinco Ranch wine moms when "those people" start moving into the neighborhood.

Don't know much about the race, but kudos to Beto for his efforts.  You've got way too many presidential candidates who stick in the race, with no real shot.  Beto dropped out, got off his ass, and is working to flip a state senate seat.  That demonstrates humility and focus on what counts.

SHARIA LAW IS WRONG FOR KATY!!!

Last round of Pearland city races, many emails and fliers were sent Out that the new people running were 100% behind establishing sharia law in Pearland, had a deal in place for a Muslim immigrant processing center to come to Pearland and  also had a deal for a large halal food processing complex to be built in Pearland.

Yes, there's no greater threat to our way of life than.....a business with lots of jobs that produces delicious food.

This country is too stupid to continue as a going concern.

I early voted last week, but wife just texted to tell me there was a decent line where she went today.  Pretty wild that a Texas House Special Election with nothing else on the ballot is drawing enough interest to create a line at the polls.  I don't expect Eliz to pull it out, but good on Beto for shining a light on this race.

I'm not optimistic but it's worth pointing out that only one of 21 polling locations has been reported. That's essentially a single neighborhood.

GOP also won EV in the general, I think ? But 59-41 is bad. You’d have to win ED by a lot. It’s over

In a heavily Dem-leaning election nationally, Zerwas won reelection here in 2018 by almost nine points. This is not a purple district.

For 2020, focus your attention further south to the 26th district: open seat that the GOP won by only 5 in 2018.

Yep this district seemed to slide back to its more natural voting when there wasn’t bigger races higher up.
