lol private equity

It's genuinely incredible how often a product or company you like suddenly goes to shit and seemingly 99 percent of the time you look it up and it's bc PE acquired it.

PE is one of those cases of financial shenanigans that seem to have become completely untethered from any legitimate capital market purpose.

It's just pure rent-seeking, just like so much of high-finance has become.

I don’t wander into CR too often burning there a thread titled something to the effect of “enshitification of things”? PE and unbridled unchecked capitalism certainly contributes to that word.

While I would have preferred a different cheese than American, the peppers added a perfect texture and taste to every bite...

very jealous that NM (and i think the western reaches of texas) have green chile year round at WB.

FYI they usually also have monterrey jack slices (which iirc is processed cheese), in addition to the shredded cheese which i mentioned above, which is a cheddar heavy blend with (i think) jack.

Yeah, I'm going with shredded cheese next time- unless I do a patty melt.

Forgot to mention that my daughter (no pics) had a spicy chicken sandwich and was underwhelmed. I reminded her a) we're not at Hattie B's and b) this is a burger place. She'll choose better in the future, I'm sure.

Yeah the gravity of the PE thing didn’t really set in for me until last year. In ordered a sausage “taquito” at Holcombe and Kirby. I open it up to put picante on it and there wasn’t a single piece of sausage in it. Just egg.

No mayo, you can ignore Futureman on that, everyone else does.

this was an unnecessary attack.

I used to put mustard on burgers and then I evolved; mayo is the superior burger condiment.  mustard is for fletcher’s corny dogs and sausage.  ketchup is for grilled cheese sandwiches and fries/rings/tots.  be sure to follow and smash that like button.

So much is about mixing it together.  The superior burger move (Hamburgers by Gourmet, Houston, TX 1980s) is to mix the shredded lettuce with a bit of mayo and shredded sharp cheddar and put it on the bottom bun.  Patty next, ketchup pickles, tomato.  Mix yellow mustard and chopped onion and put that on the top bun.

Burgers should have mayo on one bun and mustard on the other.  Fletcher’s should be slathered with ketchup and mustard mixed together
