Lots of women hate women too. Misogyny has no gender barrier

Good point.  Another anecdote, actually supported by data and personal experience that we all also knew intuitively.  Those 25mm fringe morons.  Weren't just white, male, evangelical, gun-owning Cletuses/Cletti.  They were suburban, uneducated, female Karens who felt empowered by the very type of system that made them feel less than in the first place.  Stroke of genius on their part, IMO.  Sucks to say, but when you get people of a different color to turn on people of another color.  That's a high.  When you get people to turn on people just like them, that's higher power.  /ripCoolio

I think you may be overlooking how many of that 25mm wildcard voters are women.  For the umpteenth fucking time, the people they found.  They were given the idea that they mattered again, that the people who took their country from them would be punished or at least relegated, that they themselves would be elevated, made relevant, celebrated, and empowered.  It could have been John Wayne on the other side of the ballot, any picture  of heavy masculinity.  You can swing some voters on gender, but that 25mm was always going to side with Trump.  Hillary being Hillary didn't help.  But he was offering them validation and free heroin with no side effects and no money down.  You think for 10 seconds most of those fringe voters even knew  who else was on the ballot, let alone their gender?  Keep that shit up and flush 2024 down the drain.  Any GOP candidate is now gonna get 55-65mm votes.  That's a given nowadays.  State-by-state breakdowns is a conversation for other threads.

But we're debating misogyny versus opioids with no side effects that give you super powers by a man capable of defeating multiple indictments.  But yeah, as a nation we didn't respect her time as a Senator enough?  Watch how well that messaging does while those lunatics light another federal building on fire as an homage to their orange godking.  He's literally playing with nuclear warheads and you guys are wondering why your sparklers from CVS aren't a bigger hit?

newsflash, women hate women. all groups on the outside looking in at the group with power engage in tearing down one another.  it's a thing. patriarchy isn't just about horses you know.

we watched Rocky last night with the kids - seriously. stop being a coconut you know?

horse comment was a quote from Barbie if you haven't seen it. Ken says he lost interest in the patriarchy as soon as he found out it wasn't just about horses. and the matriarchy can be a thing, a manipulative, vindictive, deceitful thing. it's why everyone hates women.

It's was a lame attempt at a play on equine terminology, holy shit-sorry.  Everybody hates women.  Got it.  No room for levity.

I was raised in a home of 4 women along with myself.  I now live in a home of 3 other women along with myself.  The world is cruel to women.  Always has been, always will be.  I have tried to help reverse that plight and will never stop, and maybe they don't need my condescending help.  Maybe the horses can do it for us.  Just want to help my girls and am thankful for the efforts of my mom and her sisters.  Hillary is better than Donald Trump.  Can't imagine there's many people left that can argue otherwise.  Many people voted against her because she was a woman.  Message received.  Got it.  No argument.  My contention is Hulk Hogan or Gen. Patton would have run against Trump, people do not appreciate that drug he was giving away.  Yeah, 5% of it was "lock her up sexism" but he was giving the stupidest garbage this country has ever produced a shot at the prize.  I don't give a flying fuck one about her credentials.  He found 25mm of the dumbest fucking Americans to ever walk between these two oceans and said, "Everything you want has been taken from you and not only will I bring it back, I will make sure you are never made to feel stupid again whether it's the break room or school board meeting or anywhere."  Hillary was just some shit on a billboard to help raise money.  He gave the most hate-filled, blame-ready dipshits we have ever produced as a nation something to look forward to and a seat at a table they didn't even know existed.  You think they're gonna kick that because of Hillary's gender.  More of them voted the second time around for him when she wasn't even an option.  And more will vote this time around despite her being long removed from politics.  Yes, people are mean to women.  And they are particularly cruel to women of power and influence.  I ain't gonna solve that.  All I can solve for is you folks have a table outside the store selling books for a 3x markup.  And he's giving away opium, fireworks, guns, and porn for free and $20 cash and we're left scratching our heads thinking, "I can't believe nobody respects diplomatic experience anymore.  Must be prejudicial."  Keep as many of those 25mm at home in 2024.  Better yet, get more of them to die or kill one another.  That's the way forward.  But I have zero doubt the Democratic Party can't find a way to narrowly almost fuck this up again.  Maybe tell men in Wisconsin what pieces of shit they are.  That should do it.

My bad. Well played.  I only saw the original Rocky one time and it was a long, long time ago.  I have a penchant, as it seems you do, for clever callbacks to iconic movie dialogue.  But that is one foundational piece  of cinema that evades me to this day.   Only thing I remember about the whole film is when he's outside her apartment and says something to the effect of "Adrian, I got two things to tell you."  And he goes with A & 2.  Or 1 & B.  Looking back, it probably wasn't so funny because his character had early onset dimentia from boxing.   Like Eric trump, only not as sad.

Hillary was a terrible candidate and ran an objectively terrible campaign. Some of y’all will be butt hurt until the end of time over her loss. But she and Trump as candidates were the best two choices that our system was capable of elevating. Cool political system we got here.

The quality of her candidacy is in the eye of the beholder. I liked a candidate who was conversant on issues both foreign and domestic and was able to articulate a clear vision for the country. That the package came in the form of Hillary Clinton didn’t matter to me.

I don't chime on in this topic much, which I'm sure most of you appreciate.  And, wisely so.  Incredulity and I probably share more than I am willing to admit.  I know we exchange some of the same twisted sense of humor on other forums.  I openly admit I have never liked Hillary Clinton.  Thought her service as First Lady was misguided.  Her time as a Senator was symbolic bullshit.  I will say her tenure as Sec. of State was underrated and I thank her for service.  I voted for Obama over her in 2008.  I didn't really think of her in 2016, just helped Gary Johnson as much as I could while wishing her and Donald Trump drove off a cliff in some kinda Thelma-Louise deal.  In hindsight, she obviously woulda made a far better President than Trump but I was awash in time and political capital and intellectual freedom in 2016 so I could do whatever the fuck I wanted.

I wouldn't brag about how you devoted time and money to helping Gary Johnson, but that's just me.

Wasn't a brag.  And nobody will ever give a shit, but he actually just didn't audibly hear the word correctly (Aleppo doesn't ring that well with English-first ears)  Probably because he was old and high.  NTTAWWT.  I liked his work, didn't like Hillary, fucking hated Trump.  But as I've said on other threads, sat on my multiple-degree high horse of "Well, I'll pick and choose from the likes of Hayek and Locke and Hume."  Of course, in hindsight-I prefer Hillary over Donald.  But at the time, I just assumed like an asshole that your party and her entrenched advantage could dispense with a fucking game show clown who fucked up the same casino.  Twice.  I just assumed.  Again, my prize mistake.  I watched in real time, Drogin do for Ted Cruz what a few years later Bannon and Cambridge did for Trump.  And I was still too fucking naive to see it happen.  And I know the whole of the Democratic Party was too dumb to see it too because I can't help but notice the election results in the Midwest to this day.  Hillary is a woman.  People are mean to women.  Point stands.  Point will always stand.  Y'all still don't fucking get the allure of Trump.  He made stupid people feel special.  Every single fucking day for years.  You have zero fucking idea how powerful that is because you're smart.

Her positions did not resonate relative to Trumps in the rust belt, and her operation amplified the problem further by ignoring Michigan and Wisconsin. Just one of the many examples of her campaign shiting the bed and making unforced errors. But despite being a generally unlikeable person, taking positions and actions that undermined the blue wall, and having no real articulable vision that wasn't "I'm with Her", she still would have probably won the election if not for the actions of James Comey.

You try it first.  I never said that that was the only reason. In fact my words were " Just one of the many examples of her campaign shitting the bed". But WI, MI, and PA flip that election.

Yeah, well…

But even now, as the polls give Trump a higher chance at the Presidency than ever, the possibility of a revolution in the Midwest still looks like conjecture. Last week, Bloomberg Politics published the results of a poll of middle-class voters (those with family incomes between thirty thousand and seventy thousand dollars) in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They found that Trump does not even have the support among these voters that Mitt Romney had. The poll had him trailing Hillary Clinton by nine per cent. Writing up the results, John McCormick, of Bloomberg, noted that Trump is “failing—at least so far—to dominate among the sort of voters thought to be more sympathetic to him.” The word that middle-class Midwesterners volunteered most often when they were asked to describe how they felt about the election was “afraid,” which is the word people tend to use when they are alarmed by Donald Trump:

It’s actually a bizarrely well written movie imo. Mostly his parts. And I forgot a lot of how it went. One of the few true hero movies with a conflicted ending. I loved some of the other rocky movies but as far as a quality film the first one wins by a mile. Watch it, strangely artistic held up really well. Shit it kept a 13 and 15 year old the whole time.

A huge part of the reason Trump won in 2016 is because a significant fraction of Clinton supporters didn't think there was any way he could win, and so they stayed home.

Trump:  63.0M

Clinton:  65.8M

Other:  7.7M

Total:  136.5M

In 2020, those numbers were quite different, and there is no reason to believe the Democrats and independents are going to slide back into complacency about Trump's chances:

Trump:  74.2M

Biden:  81.3M

Other:  2.9M

Total:  158.4M

Throwing this here because it doesn't belong on the 45 Indicated thread (great title change).

It wasn't just Clinton supporters "staying home", but also Bernie Bros voting for Trump out of spite, conservative swing voters who might have voted for a Democrat throwing their votes to the Libertarians (or not at all), massive numbers of undecideds breaking for Trump on election day, and as mentioned previously a goatfuck of a campaign by Clinton that just assumed people would vote for her.

It took a perfect storm.

I kept saying Trump was going to win but everyone brushed it off like I was talking flat earth nonsense.

I predicted the Trump win because I saw how she fucked it up in 2008. I was a hardcore Hilary supporter but it pissed me off that they weren’t taking Obama seriously. Once Obama had the Auditorium Shores rally in early 2007, I knew she was done.

Hilary’s 2016 campaign was just a bigger version of this collapse in terms of underestimating the opponent and ignoring the sentiment of the voter base.

Hillary hiring Mark Penn in 2008 is really all you need to know about her political acumen.

Fact.  In the spirit of kindness I will not go with my usual even more blistering reaction to this.  I'm trying to be nicer, just like the less mean thread suggests I should.

But as someone who went for Bernie in the primaries and voted for HRC in the General (in Texas where it didn't matter anyway) I really, really get tired of this smear.

Fair enough, I suppose.  Trolling has crossed over into real life and so I get more than annoyed for being blamed for something that didn't happen.  I really wanted Bernie, but I also know that even if he won he wouldn't be allowed to do anything most of the things he truly wanted, so him losing out hurt less if that makes sense.  And I'm also aware there were some pretty obnoxious Bernie folks on reddit/twitter/etc.  But let us not forget social media amplifies quite often the minority and the controversial.  It doesn't make all of us who liked Bernie's ideals misognystic trolling bros. who would burn the country down if we didn't 'get our way.'

I entirely misunderstood your post that I quoted.  My apologies.

Edit: only tangentially related, I really do wish the Electoral College was removed.  It seems that movement had a bit of momentum at one point.  It feels diminished now, but there's a real chance I am out of touch.

Yeah, I’m sure Big Mike,  Susan Sarandon and Eddie Glaude Jr who just couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Hillary because of principles, are loving the hell out the 6-3 right wing SC (which would have been the exact opposite under Hillary).
