She's immune, but can she still spread it with a fresh bite?

Or is her immunity decreased by another bite causing minor symptoms? (I haven’t played part 2 of the game yet)

All the interpersonal drama, general bullshit, and Walking Dead-like decision-making wasn't quite what I was hoping for.

They seem to have ample electricity if Ellie is using it for a desktop lava lamp.

Are we supposed to remember who Eugene is?

Yeah, felt like a Walking Dead knockoff to me. We were just immediately into the town life and drama. I guess I preferred the first season's slog through the danger zone on their way to Jackson.

And that group of zoomers at the beginning were not intimidating in any way, rough acting too. I haven't played any of the games, so maybe it gets better.

Ellie is definitely turding it up as a 19yo will do.

anyone else get the ASL guy?  How do you turn that off?

Noticed that as an option after I watched. I think you probably selected an alternate version of the episode by mistake.

I've really liked Kaitlyn Dever since her appearances on Justified and her teenage genius arc over 4ish seasons there.

That being said, not so keen on her being the primary antagonist on a Vendetta Ride against our hero's

Agreed. Part script as well. Joel and Elle seem like theyd chew them up and spit them out. Traveling the wilderness 1000 in the middle of winter to Wyoming also seems like a dumbass move.

Doesnt seem like the town has much time left (no game knowledge)

It happened to me, too, when streaming. It seemed to have defaulted to the ASL version for me. To fix it, I went to "versions" and played the one without him.

I found myself empathizing with the lesbian and NPCs on patrol wanting to scout and report what they saw. And that’d be my last patrol with Elie and Dora the Explorer.

Sure, but they've had 5 years to montage train since they made the pact.

For reference, this is what the character looks like in the game.

This is how all zombie/ post apocalypse show progressions tend to go. Shock and awe of the early episodes is always going to be better than the hum drum that occurs once the dust has settled. Episode was fine. It’s a video game so I would assume the plot picks up.

TWD got so repetitive though.  Every season Rick and the crew would come upon a new town, you knew that place was going to get burnt down by the end of the season.  Got to the point where I was on board with killing Rick and Michonne and everyone else.  They were nothing but trouble.  I agree with Joel.....build that wall and keep everyone out!!!

The first episode was trash.  The casting of that 6-headed retard as the main protagonist makes this show almost unwatchable. She is fucking terrible in every way.

As much as I liked the first season, I am giving this one more episode. This feels like Hollywood garbage in its usual form.

Think she was in season 1 as well

Sometimes it’s hard to separate the flaws of the Elle character with the actress. Elle fucking around with zombies and sulking is frustrating to watch because shes supposed to be a protagonist. But thats as scripted.

no spoilers, but the game also started slowly in Jackson, and pretty much followed episode 1.

The 2nd game has also been described as darker and more violent than the first game, so take that for what its worth.

Really some of the most unfortunate casting ever. Especially now that she's a 19 year-old lesbian wanting to munch on Dora the Explorer. It's just weird.

I was curious how they were going to handle the 5 year time jump where she apparently transforms into a hardened killer, given the physical limitations. Turns out, they went the "every 'badass' Taylor Sheridan female character" route of having her act like a snatch to all men and authority figures.

Spoiler

HBO has killed off major characters before. See Stark, Ned. But this one has me scratching my head. Why am I still watching if Joel is dead?

Gamefag shit and massive spoilers:

Spoiler

The build out of Ellie and Joel's relationship was truly the foundation of what made The Last of Us great. It was a long build out and meant so much. Based on most the the nerd reviews it seems like the series did a pretty good job of that aspect of the narrative.

I admit I didn't watch the first season but purely from a gamers perspective having Joel die so early in LOU 2 really sucked in the game. However, then being forced to align with and play his murderer pissed me the fuck off way more. I went back several times in the game until I figured out there was no choice. Clearly, it was a similar feeling to many other players and it leaking prior truly hurt the game's sales.

I played through the finish but it was mechanical and without attachment and passion that I had in the 1st game.

Sounds like, broadly from here and other reviews, they made Joel a bit of an ass to soften the "blow" Which... tracks.

This season is going to be about killing other humans, not surviving zombies. Need that sympathetic moment for the main character to go John Wick.

This episode felt like Game of Thrones.

Agreed. Was thinking that throughout the episode.

I know nothing about the games and have stayed away from any spoilers so that was… unexpected.

Spoiler

I’m guessing the rest of this season is Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy and Seth (total shot in the dark, just a redemption arc?) going on the hunt.

Total speculation but spoilering as my exclusion of Joel would be an obvious tell

So the rest of the show is now the potato going around looking for the other girl to avenge his death? Terrible. Pedro Pascal is the only reason people watch this show.

Yeah I loved the episode but have no interest in watching moving forward. The rest of the cast are a bunch of B players. I will give it one more ep but if it doesn't blow me away, it's over for me. It feels like another TWD without Joel and I stopped watching that show a long time ago

Dever really should have been cast as Ellie. She's older obviously but they could have made it work. They said she was 19 during season one, so close enough.
