Republican judicial nominee Wendy Vitter...

Seems like that should  be an immediate yes from anyone. A quick google shows she is counsel for the RC archdiocese in NOLA and strong anti-abortion advocate. She looked like she was trying to find the gotcha trap question about roe v wade that was going to follow a yes by her on this no brainer, talking about abiding by hypothetical decisions she may or may not agree with rather than answering about the specific case in question

Or she could truly be a moron.

Regardless that non answer should disqualify her

I think Sawbonz may be on to something . . . she doesn't want to talk about Roe V Wade and is at least smart enough to know she shouldn't talk about any specific case if she wants to remain silent on abortion.

And yes, this should keep her from being appointed (which means she will be passed through with virtually no consideration otherwise, because the best people).

Her idiotic rationale for not answering should be grounds for not confirming, let alone her actual position on the case.  She should be able to give her legal opinion of an old ass case.  It's not some pending appeal that she might have to decide down the line.

And she practiced law for a whopping 8 years.

I remember when Tahoe assured us Trump would just be using lists for qualified appointees that the GOP provided.  That hasn't worked out so well.

Just saw an article in the NO paper.  She's counsel of record, not lead counsel, in all of ONE federal case in her career.  One.  Single.  Case.

Jumping geezus on a pogo stick.

This. Being evasive about specific cases is pretty standard fair for confirmation hearings. The bigger problem is she's just outrageously unqualified.

The really depressing thing is she's not even the least qualified person that he's nominated to be a Judge.

That guy from the Federal Election Commission?  That was just sad.  Had to feel sorry for the guy.

And, as fun as it is to blame Trump, the fact that local GOPs are putting these people up for judgeships is staggering.

Yep, he couldn't even answer basic legal questions during his hearing.  I'm not sure how he ever passed the bar exam.  I can't feel sorry for someone who accepted a job offer that they knew they weren't qualified for.

they're not the ones putting them up.  state GOP folks are for the most part left out of the loop on judicial nominees with this administration.  they're being nominated without any input from the Senators from a particular state, in fact, and the Senate Republican majority, particularly Grassley, has abandoned the "blue slip" process.

as to why, you figure it out...

The Texas nominees have mostly been Abbott cronies. Probably because he endorsed Trump before Cruz and Cornyn.
