What would you do if the US Treasury sent you $1,000

Also- why $300 spent on pornhub. What’s the need?  Don’t they have like a jillion free porns?  Hell me out here, what’s the point of paying on that site. Genuinely curious.

That's the "joke". In posting a pic of receiving the stimulus, the screenshot reveals that the poster wastes money on porn. It's a Photoshop/fake bank account app that's been circulating for a few weeks.

Bit of an obscure question here, but hoping one of you knows the answer. We had a kid in 2019 (obviously this kid was not on 2018 tax returns). We have not yet filed 2019 taxes because our CPA got cancer a few months back and has been swamped trying to save small businesses since then. So, our stimulus will be based on the 2018 returns, which means our youngest kid won't get counted. How do I get the $500 that the govt says I deserve?

I will end up being a tax credit on the next return you file, which will be the 2019 return for you.

Thanks. Just found this from money.com (seems legit), which supports what you said:

The amount you get in your stimulus check in the coming months is what you get as determined by your 2019 or 2018 tax return. And next year, after taxes for 2020 are filed, the Internal Revenue Service will reassess to see if anyone qualifies to get more money based on their 2020 returns, but it won’t reassess to see if anyone no longer qualifies or should get less money.

This whole stimulus thing changes everyday and frankly I am not keeping up with it that much.  I have filed and paid my 2019 taxes and I don't expect anything from the gov't.  However.  I did find out that if your ex is in arrears in child support you are entitled to their stimulus check if they get one.  My ex is way in arrears, so anytime I can fuck her over I am all for it.

Sound like fucking her over in arrears may have been a contributing factor to your divorce.

Curious if this is prioritized based off of income, filing date, last name or what.

Didnt file my most recent return due to I would have to pay in about 1100 and would rather wait till July and keep the cash on hand just in case. Last years my AGI was literally 149k, so right under the max for filling married, so I am really curious where I am in the line for this.

My ex died in arrears, not going to get any stimulation from that, am I?

I get that but still- people spend money on pornhub, right?  And my question is the same- why?

My deposit is pending for Wednesday but I was just made aware of the fine print. If the dependents you claimed on your taxes are over 17, you get jack shit instead of $500 each. And because they were dependents, they get jack shit as well. So much for that extra $1000.

I have a 17 yo and and 15 yo.  Not sure what the difference is between them in the government's eyes, but we'll get some money for one and none for the other.

ETA:  17 yo was under 17 in 2019 so we get money for both.

How do you know it's pending for Wednesday? All I could find on the IRS site was a payment tracker button that isn't functional yet.

When I log into my credit union app, it shows up as a pending transaction and it has the date of 4-15 on it. I assume that means it'll get deposited on that day. I never even thought about trying to look at the IRS side of it, that sounds like a huge headache.

We always take care of our taxes early, basically once both W2s hit. That will cost us most of the stimulus money not earmarked for having kids as income was up YoY. Was actually surprised the estimators said we’d get anything so maybe we still won’t. We don’t need it as both of us are still gainfully employed so will probably spend it on local businesses to do things with the house.

Here too, but oh well 3 more years left anyway.

I paid mine off from 25 years ago, 18 years ago. Do you think I should get some kind of money for paying off my bank note?

Yes and a monorail from your house to your job.

It's a 31 mile trip. That would be bad ass to be able to drink wine and ride home every evening.

I believe monorail costs are somewhere around $150 million per mile so it should be doable in this stimulus.

We could have over 13000 miles of monorail if they would spend all of the stimulus on it.  That's about 1/3 of the total interstate highway system.
