I would also point out that a team's highest positive numbers should be now, right out of the gate. That happened with premier league and it makes sense given people are living their lives elsewhere without the protocols of UT campus.

Not saying this can't all come crashing down before anyone even puts pads on, but I expect the new positive number will drop to near zero quickly and stay there all summer. For us and just about every power-5 team.

Sooo, I am not quite as confident in the boldface after seeing the Clemson number. But again, this is the beginning of testing and there is plenty of time to get people healthy and start practicing better habits. Also curious to see numbers from a major team in an area where the virus is receding, like much of the Big Ten. One writer pointed out the Clemson FB rate is half that of the state of SC at the moment.

We must be watching different golf tournaments. The only way it’s impacted actual play is that the players can’t use fans as backstops for bad shots.

I didn’t say it did. I said as a viewer I found the lack of fans took some of the fun out of watching it.

Wait till someone dies
I've been thinking this, but not saying it.

Football is the opposite of social distancing...

How do you tell people to stay away from each other and play football?

(i mean, the defense was really bad last year, so maybe that was practice?)

Yep, a mandatory 3 man front should keep anyone from exposing the QB's.

They’ll try. Too much money on the line not to. It’s going to be a shit show filled with quarantines and cancellations though.

Agree that they'll try, but this LSU quarantine probably has to do with this (and this could and will happen anywhere).

Good luck keeping football players and fans from congregating in bars and parties, especially as the weather turns cooler.

tell that to the media.

This is why if you follow a 24 hours news media or twitter for your information you might be shocked when football resumes.

Nothing.

Sounds like its all being played, but nobody has worked out the details.

Schools don't want to give up the TV money even if they have to leave half or more of their stadium empty.

If it wasn't all about the money, they would move it to Spring when there's a decent chance they could put more people in the stadium.

I'll stick to TV this fall.

Doubtful. A vaccine won't be available until late spring/early summer of next year. Fall sports are just as in jeopardy as spring sports considering the 2nd wave is supposed to be worse than this first wave of covid. Don't think things will get back to normal until Fall 2021.

Or their parents or grandparents. Or their immunocompromised brother or sister.

Some think games are played in a vacuum and players will just be locked up in their dorms other than practice.

You IMO are delusional if you think there is a full CFB season. Teams will play a week, someone on either team is positive, then they’re shut down two weeks. It’s impossible to have a season like that. And foolish to pretend this virus is going away when the states are ignoring medical data to try to stop the spread.

Punt and try a spring 2021 season.

Your opinion is quite noted. This is nothing, it’s going to happen, blah blah blah.  Look at the media being fake! Can you believe these fake tweets from *checks notes* sports writers who actually cover college football for national or regional outlets?!

If it does happen, it won’t be 12 games. May not even start on time.  At least one high profile player per team will probably end up sitting out for 2 weeks.

Has every team except aggy had positive players? That seems suspicious.

They had positives, but like most stories about them, no one cared

Did the voices in your head tell you that’s what I said? I love the effort some posters take editorializing what others say.

The virus is not going to magically go away. It has also been around far longer than originally thought, as the Italian sewer study showed it was there in early December, before China ever announced their first case. There is a whole lot of talk about a "second wave" as well. Well what wave are we in now?

I'd also like to know, of all these positive COVID tests recently among football players, how many are actually symptomatic?

This virus is ubiquitous and it is much less deadly than we were originally led to believe. And that should actually be very good news for all of us.

Kasey mentioned on radio today that 1 of his friends had it, it was a 24 bug. His co-host's friend experienced it as a 3 day butt flu.

No one at A&M has gotten it, because they are actually following the suggested protocols. Like this one from the state of New York:

Quote

In fact, the guide says to get a little creative with your sexual escapades and avoid face-to-face contact as much as possible by experimenting with different positions or physical barriers— “like walls.”

We always made fun of Aggies and glory holes, but it looks like they were stopping Covid before any of us even knew about it.

Who are extremely well compensated and know exactly what they’re getting into.

There will be college football, but it’s going to be a shit show of players sitting being out, teams forfeiting games, and some schools not playing altogether. Essentially an analogy for 2020.

The ones not in long term care? Yea they have probably a 99.94% at living.

Living and dying aren’t the only possibilities though. Lung scarring, heart problems, long term issues. It’s just going to take one on a ventilator to shut it all down.

Ok I’m not going to deny it happens but it’s still likely rare to see life long implications or else no way we’d be seeing states stay open, or opening up to see case rises with the preferred age of people now.

Much like the multisystem inflammatory syndrome with kids. It grabbed headlines(back in April or early May) we haven’t seen anything warning about it since. If it was really an issue, we wouldn’t have debates on opening schools. Remember the one and only time we “started seeing strokes” in healthy middle aged folk? Fear porn.
