But the line/question isn't about Mitch's year, it's about Randall "Pink" Floyd's year, which is Fall 1976.  Don't know what that looks like though.

Yeah, but I find it interesting that Pink’s team (or maybe not his team) went undefeated the following season only to lose in the first round of the Texas state playoffs.

Well a lot of them apparently didn't sign their pledges.

In the book, it is revealed that Linklater is both Pink and Mitch.  He was starting QB and left his senior year to go to another school in Houston to focus on baseball.

Tried to watch Everybody Wants Some on Amazon prime last night, but the link pulls up a Bob Saget standup special.

Watched it. It’s great. Juston Street’s Jay character is what I imagine Trevor Bauer was like at UCLA.

Went to the 30 year anniversary at the Paramount last night. I probably hadn’t watched it in 10 years. Still so good. I grew up in Georgetown in the late 80s and early 90s. My wife was in boarding school, so had nowhere near the same experience. She doesn’t quite grasp the nostalgia.

just rolled me back to high school. Main differences being clothing and paddling. Otherwise mailbox baseball, cruising, keggers, wahooing beer……was all part of growing up.

Who was there from the cast?

Linklater, Joey Lauren Adams and  Wiley Wiggins were both really funny, Mills Jovovich, Anthony Rapp,  Cynthia, Sabrina, Carl, Jody, Pickford’s mom, Mitch’s mom,  handful of others.  For the most part, you could tell they all got along pretty well together.

I was in junior high in '76 so I could identify with the hazing victims. Back then the US was supposedly dropping English measurements for the metric system so they tried to teach us that crap. Talk about being a hazing victim

I experienced the hazing whoopings in '89 as an incoming freshman. They started to crack down on the hazing in the early 90's so by my senior year hazing was limited to making freshman wear makeup and dresses while holding hands in front of HEB.

Pretty crazy. The lady who played Pickford’s mom was my landlady in law school. Pretty cool chick, nice looking too. She let me bang her in lieu of rent a few times. True story. 😎

Martha Washington and Pickford’s mom…two hip, hip women.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a thread on this movie either here or TOS,

Surely some of y'all have some personal stories connected to this movie.  I've only got two and they're lame.

One of my really good friends was an RTF major in the 90's and distinctly recalls MM practicing his lines in the back of class.

Also, the long-haired kid that was always touching his nose had a Blockbuster account at the Blockbuster I worked at in the mid-90's.  Riverside.  I never saw him.

They rented the cigarette machines from my Dad's company for the Emporium scenes. The coin mechs were set at 10 cents, and once the crews found out, they emptied the machines. We had come by and fill them back up, which the studio paid for. Bunch of friends were extras. They asked about my sister and I, but we were too 90's preppy looking.

Had a freshman Math class with Wiley. He was a nice guy. Really into hacking.

Went to HS with Jason Smith, aka Melvin Spivey.  He was a few years older, played football, remember him being a nice guy.  Nobody knows what the fuck happened to that guy.  Lots of drug use rumors and dropped off the face of the Earth.  The other weird thing is I went to Lake Highlands in Dallas so no idea how Jason got plucked for this.

Yea I went down the rabbit hole after reading this.  The Reddit looking for him says jail, drugs, working at a TGI Fridays around 1998. Facebook pages looking too, no one seems to have a clue.

1998?!?  he's been off the grid for 26 years?
