oh how I really want one of these mofos to try to come to my polling place.

Well, I mean if they are overseeing the election, then there should not be any problems with peaceful transitions etc.

I wonder if they are getting their money up front?  I would.

This should come as no surprise given the recent polling and the money flowing in, but I’ve seen that the Biden campaign is going to seriously invest in and fight for Ohio.

the map is expanding for Biden. Very bad sign for Trumpers.

its also a smart move because both the republican Secretary of State and Republican Governor fully support their election processes. Winning Ohio would undermine trumps fraud argument before it even gets rolling.

Just a reminder for the inexplicably undecided's, this election is not about idealogy, it is an election about competence vs. incompetence, incompetence that could have serious negative ramifications for this country in four years if this idiot is re-elected.  Here's just a short list of Trump's Greatest Hits:
Health Care – F     Has promised and failed to deliver something better than Obamacare for 4 years.  Absolute failure.
Immigration – F     Has failed to resolve any of the immigration issues the country faced when he entered office. The wall has been and is a joke that he’s lied about now for four years.
China – D     Taking on China was a good idea. The way he has done it is a complete failure. He’s had to provide billions in farm subsidies to American farmers while making little to no progress. His tariffs have resulted in either higher prices to Americans for products, or US companies having lower profitability as a result of having to absorb tariffs.  The impact on China’s economy due to tariffs has been very limited, which is why no progress has been made in four years.
Economy/Tax Cut – D     While the tax cut helped spur the economy, it was completely irresponsible because it ballooned our debt during an economic expansion period, when the country should be putting its debt on firmer footing. It was completely irresponsible fiscally. It was also far too beneficial for the wealthy, further widening an already serious wealth inequality gap.
Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq – F     Fumbled those issues so badly military leaders resigned.
Quality of Administration Talent – F     The leaders of most agencies are completely unqualified for their positions. Dept of Education, etc. Most competent talent has not only left (white house cabinet leaders, staff, generals, etc), many or most of them have no come out in support of Biden, showing how incompetent Trump truly is.
Relations with Allies – F     He is the joke of all of our allies. They understand all of his immense flaws. Unintelligent, narcissistic, easily manipulated, etc.  No one respects him.  No one.
Leadership and Integrity – F     He lies constantly, he whines, he calls people names, he’s belligent, he’s thin-skinned, he’s superficial, he thinks he’s better than everyone else. He makes ridiculous claims about his capabilities, like “stable genius”.  He’s the worst human being and no one with those characteristics can lead effectively. He is a joke to everyone who hasn’t been conned by him. Has pitted people against each other by inflaming racial tensions, democrat vs republican, etc.  He’s a disaster. He’s a grifter who has steered contracts to friends, family, donors and himself.
North Korea – F     Got completely played by Kim Jong. No results.
Russia – F     Is being totally played by Putin, has not effectively protected Belarus or Ukraine. Has done nothing about election meddling or other issues. His campaign coordinated with them on the election.
COVID – F     He did take a few decent actions like shutting down the border, but his ridiculous refusal to lead on mask-wearing and social distancing, and other issues, has caused the results we now see, the highest number of deaths in the entire world and a virus that still isn't under control.
Trade – D     No measurable improvement.  Re-did NAFTA with no real improvement.

He's also the first president where there is going to be less protected land at the end of his administration than the beginning, if you care about that sort of thing. And while the wall is a joke, it is going up in Arizona, where they are blowing up protected wilderness and important indigenous land to do so.

Don't tell me these things.  It makes me think thoughts that I don't want to put on the internet for fear of getting on a watch list.

I saw the saguaro cacti for the first time in my life when we drove through Arizona on our way to California a little over a year ago. They are glorious and I saw that the wall construction is destroying many of them. They take so long to grow and are a part of the ecosystem that is fragile enough in a desert. So sad.

That’s huge! No, dear reader.  For some reason we have decided to start our article about those that abandoned trump talking about those that still support Trump.

James Baker III was one of the most powerful and storied unelected officials in U.S. history. His tenure in government was marked by professionalism — and the pursuit of American international leadership, multilateral alliances and free trade. It is a shame that he refuses to come out against a president who is against everything he was for — and who has trashed the Bush family, with which Baker is so closely associated.

“I will vote for the Republican — I really will. I won’t leave my party,” Baker told Peter Baker and Susan Glasser, the authors of a riveting new biography of him, even though he also described President Trump as “crazy” and “nuts.” So better a crazy Republican in office than a sane and moderate Democrat? Baker apparently thinks so, and so, presumably, do other GOP grandees — from Paul D. Ryan to Dick Cheney — who refuse to speak out against the president.

But the real news this election is not how many top Republicans are sticking with Trump. It’s how many are repudiating him. Tom Ridge, a former governor of Pennsylvania and the first secretary of homeland security in the George W. Bush administration, published an op-ed on Sunday announcing that he was endorsing Joe Biden because Trump “sows division along political, racial, and religious lines” and “lacks the empathy, integrity, intellect, and maturity to lead.”

AD

This came less than a week after Sen. John McCain’s widow, Cindy McCain, joined a slew of former McCain staffers in endorsing Biden. The mother of two sons who served in the armed forces, she cited as her breaking point Trump’s disparagement of the troops as “losers.” “I want my president to have my back,” she said, “and I don’t believe that’s the case right now.”

Ridge and McCain are only a small part of the flood of Republican leaders who have turned against Trump, even while 90 percent of the rank and file remains loyal. Some — such as former president George W. Bush, former national security adviser John Bolton, Gov. Phil Scott (R-Vt.) and Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) — have made clear they won’t be voting for Trump even though they don’t plan to endorse his challenger.

Many others have gone further. In addition to Ridge, at least six other members of Bush’s Cabinet have endorsed Biden. So have more than 70 former Republican national security officials. So have seven former Republican governors (including Rick Snyder, who until 2018 led the swing state of Michigan), five former Republican senators, and more than two dozen former Republican House members.

AD

There is even a new group of Trump administration veterans, such as Miles Taylor and Olivia Troye, as well as others from previous Republican administrations, who have endorsed Biden. Meanwhile, some of the sharpest political ads of the campaign come from Republican Voters Against Trump and the Lincoln Project — organizations started by disaffected Republicans.

I, too, am a Biden Republican — someone who was driven out of the GOP by Trump’s ascendance and is now rooting for a landslide Republican defeat on Nov. 3. I used to joke that there were enough Never-Trump Republicans to hold a dinner party but not a political party. But that’s no longer true. Anti-Trump Republican and independent voters helped deliver the House to Democrats in 2018. They could make the difference again this year if the election is close. Indeed, recent polls show a big Biden lead in the swing state of Pennsylvania in part because Trump is losing nearly a quarter of Republicans in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and their suburbs.

As political analyst Ronald Brownstein notes, having so many elites in one party endorse the presidential candidate of another party is unusual. The only time in modern history when there was this much crossover was among “Democrats for Nixon” in 1972. There was a smaller crossover for Ronald Reagan in 1980 led by neoconservative intellectuals who thought the Democratic Party had gone soft in the Cold War.

AD

Those defections were significant because they signaled the rise of the “Reagan Democrats” — mainly blue-collar, socially conservative White voters. They have now become a mainstay of the Republican Party. But most college-educated White voters — who once leaned Republican — have left the party. Hillary Clinton won White voters with college degrees by 17 percentage points, and Biden is leading among them by an even larger margin.

This could be a realigning election, like 1932 and 1980, one that moves White college graduates and moderates of all races into the Democratic ranks for good. That depends, of course, on Biden first winning and then governing as moderately and successfully as his track record would suggest. If Biden can cope with the pandemic and other monumental challenges, he can leave the Democrats dominant for decades to come, with the Republicans reduced to a rump faction dependent on stoking the resentment of a shrinking White base. No wonder Republicans are so desperate to lock in a Supreme Court majority: They know it’s now or never.

Does this dumbfuck realize when you say to the people of Ohio, "Your Second Amendment"...that refers to their state constitution.  And that amendment has nothing to do with the right to bear arms?  Is this fucking idiot at least remotely aware that states also have their own constitutions?  Is he at least aware that we have things called states?

At what point is he at least going to prove that he is something more cognizant than a sentient enema?

Biden should ask him this at the debate tonight.  Seriously, just start quizzing him on random, but basic, knowledge of how the government works, what the constitution is, etc.

stupid question alert - is there any rational person who didn't vote in 2016 and is getting off the sidelines and voting trump in 2020?

i mean, i know there will be plenty of these people.  i know they exist.  but what goes through a person's brain who was indifferent enough in 2016 but has seen something over the past 4 years that says, yep, that's my guy.  i totally understand getting off the mat and voting against hillary.  we all know how unpopular she was, and the trump/fox/rnc machine working against her for over a decade.  but biden doesn't really have that.

i'm not naive enough to think that every one of these people is voting dem, but come on.

He should ask him about constitutional amendments. Start with a few easy ones, like the 1st and 2nd...then tell him if he doesn't know the 5th, he better brush up on it, because he's going to need to know it in a few months when he's on trial in New York.

I'd love a simple question about the one thing Trumpers love so much, his judicial appointments.

Joe biden:    "President Trump, we all know about your record number of appointments to the federal bench.  And congrats on that, it's a tough thing to accomplish.  As we all know your courts of appeal judges who answer to your district judges are all working with the Federal Circuit to appoint new DC Appellate Court Justices from the Supreme Court's local districts.  How do you feel about that?"

4 years ago I was a new Georgia resident. I was busy with life and trying to do well at my job and for the first time I didn’t bother to vote. I hadn’t even registered yet. It was the Hillary malaise plus life plus still figuring out local politics.

I dropped off my absentee ballot today. I’m neither young nor African American. I’ve voted for the least Trumpy candidate in every Republican primary/runoff since then and then voted against Republicans in the general. The top of my ticket was Biden, Ossoff, Warnock.

We’re still waiting on my wife’s absentee ballot to arrive, but her ticket will likely look about the same. Neither of us voted 4 years ago.

I know of two such people. I’ve heard it’s 4% of the country- which is almost nothing. It’s an odd person indeed. The ones I know, anecdotally, are conservative Democrats who never were liberal but had inherited the D vote, and are not comfortable with the protests.
There are, clearly, way more people going the other direction from red to blue, but the great sorting in America continues on.

Well then they are joining the right team since they are anti-American.

As I said- the sorting continues. Some people see arson, Molotov cocktails, areas like the CHAZ and cops being shot and don’t care about anything that came before that.  Most people don’t do nuance very well and think pretty simplistically. I don’t think that makes them anti-American but obviously YMMV.

note- all that stuff happened associated with protests  it’s undeniable  and some people see that and stop there

when a couple cops get shot in watts and people celebrate it makes me think- how bad must cops be in that neighborhood that makes that the reaction of its citizens.  Others don’t go beyond- that’s terrible I’m voting for the law and order group

so let me understand this, a hearing aid disqualifies the former VP from serving?  is that like bone spurs or something?

and meanwhile collusion, conspiracy, money laundering, corruption, associates convicted of crimes in the dozens, pardoning cronies, inciting violence, calling opponents names, dismissing COVID as a threat, lying, impeachment, accepting Ukraine and Russian help in the election, groping women, sleeping with under age women, violation of the emoluments clause, bankruptcy multiple times, and I mean the list goes on and on are not disqualifying?

Two really good moves.

Here's the effective way to attack Trump and Trumpkins: laugh.  Laugh about them, laugh at them.  It humiliates them, and the more they are humiliated, the more they sputter and make more mistakes.  Keep pushing them.  Then push some more.  Their every idiotic reaction only helps you.

And that @Truth is a good move as well -- don't dance around it like the press does.  Call out Trump for being a liar, show him to be a liar.  And do it relentlessly.  For the same reason as above.  An avalanche of mocking, humiliation, and shame, will only make the admin and its sycophants get more ridiculous.  Which their core base loves, but which costs them any voter on the margin.  You're never getting the cultists to switch over, so use them as a weapon.
