Hillary won Nevada and 2018 was a blowout, IDK what their plan could be

2018 was notably closer there than in NM or MN. 4-5 point races for governor and senate in a blue year. The plan would be basically hoping a shitload of unemployed, democratic leaning former Vegas service workers don't vote.

I'm not saying it's a good plan, and I don't think there's anything Trump/GOP can do about it, but it's up there with maybe New Hampshire as the only state that has any kind of chance of flipping. I don't think it will based on available info, but I'd sure like to see more data.

Nevada is underpolled and with the service/hospitality workforce in Vegas decimated the organizing power of labor, which has been the driver of flipping the state, could be significantly diminished.

It's a better play than some of the other stupid ass pipe dream flips people mention like NM or MN.

I hadn’t thought about the Hospitality union out there and Covid. Hmmmmm. That’s interesting. Not in a “I think trumps going to win kind of way” but interesting nonetheless.

At the same time, the suburbs in Vegas and Reno are tilting left. My guess is Biden wins by like 5 points. Also, again, Hillary won in 2016

Not unreasonable. Like many other states, Trump didn't close the margin by running ahead of Romney. In fact, he ran right in line with him at 45 percent. Even if Democratic engagement is down I'm not sure Trump improves on that number and you ain't winning shit at 45 percent. Just saying NV is flying under the radar.

Trump wants to go to Nevada to visit casinos that make money.

Donald Trump has a big ass supposedly nice hotel in Las Vegas.

It doesn’t have a casino in it.

Thats right. Donald Trump built a big ass supposedly nice hotel on the Las Vegas strip. But forgot to put a casino in it. I guess Atlantic City was a better spot.

Smart business man that trump.

Trump International Hotel Las Vegas is a pleasant four-pearl property located across from Fashion Show Mall, a not-insubstantial walk from The Strip. It's 1,232 air-conditioned rooms have tons of built-ins, kitchenettes, velvet-chaired sitting areas, and fabulous city views (some of The Strip). Unfortunately, the two restaurants -- a poolside snack shop and a fine-dining eatery that serves American food -- are only mediocre, and the property lacks a casino. Other features include a pool, a fully-stocked 24-hour gym, a spa, and a gift shop loaded with Trump-branded merchandise. The property’s otherwise serene ambience is disrupted throughout the day (and night) by rumbling trains and their blaring horns, though. For quieter stay with luxurious rooms and equally numerous features it’s also worth pricing out Wynn Las Vegas.

Don’t worry, all the pro gun people have been preparing their entire lives for a situation like this.

Gun people: We need guns to prevent the government from doing something we would rightly shoot them for.

Me: Like what?

Gun people: Like confiscating our guns.

Me: ????

Seems like a long shot to me.

Nevada is like many other states, you have to win the biggest county to win the statewide race. I don’t see how a bunch of people who are angry, pissed off, and unemployed because of Trump don’t show up to vote against him.

So am I taking crazy pills or did Trump basically say he was going to gut SS and Medicare a week or two ago, and it’s not even on anyone’s radar at this point?

I can’t fathom how no one has pushed the figures from the actuary saying that if Trump eliminates the payroll tax that SS runs out in a year.

if you want to get the most selfish voting block in history on your side. Show them that the other guy is fucking their retirement.

Not to mention that NV keeps sucking in Californians and Latinos, two groups that are definitely not on the Trump train. Nevada is basically where Colorado was 2-4 years ago, and is about 2-4 years ahead of Arizona from a voting trend perspective.

I have to wonder.

are the Democrats “ blowing their load” too early?  The Atlantic report and the Woodward book are definitely putting Trump on the defensive and causing problems for him,  but if we don’t have some October surprises and Trump does it could end up being a bad look.

The vast majority of those interviews were late at night, with Trump calling Woodward.  It appears there are no recordings at the White House.  Woodward, however, has the recordings.

There are surely many more bombshells to come.  This little blitz is to set up sales of the book.  If I were a betting man, I'd say he'll keep it up after release for at least a month.

Now, the stories will be out soon after 9/15, but obviously hearing the claims in Trump's own voice are far more damaging.  Hang on for the ride.

He's just asking questions.  It's very likely that there's going to be a steady stream of bombs dropped on Trump from now until the election.  He's going to be kept lying from one clusterfuck to another.

1. Vote by mail will be starting soon in many states.

2. Funds raised after mid October are hard to deploy in any impactful way.

3. I'm guessing there is a lot more load to blow yet.

The tone on Cubans thoughts here vis a vis communism is pretty silly.  IF their parents were lined up against walls and machine gunned 60 years ago, they probably weren't surprised to see what was coming.  Embracing the party of hardliners against that seems pretty rational, if they're incapable of understanding why their parents got into the shit they were in.

FIFY.

Turns out Bloomberg was completely full of shit.

One can feel pity for the victims of revolution, but also understand why they got their heads removed from their shoulders.  The revolutions in France, Russia and Cuba happened because the super rich treated the rest of society like shit.

It also appears that there will be a showdown between Woodward and AG Barr for who has the best October surprise. Those two have a bit of a history, so the hits against Woodward are going to be huge in an attempt to weaken his voice just as Barr will try to come across as credible. The Durham episode is still unfolding, correct?

Barr has a lot of irons in the fire right now:

Deutsche Bank mess

Election mess:

This is really misleading - He paid all of his staffers and/or guaranteed their salaries through election day + all his ad buys went where those staffers went.

He sunk ~1B in as a commit initially and it just carried through to all the candidates not just Joe Biden. It's not Bloombergs personal responsibility to save America from itself with his cash, he's done more than probably anyone else has financially thus far in being anti-trump so just take a chill pill before you start putting the blood of an election loss on his hands.

There's going to be some ridiculous October surprise from Team Dotard where it's revealed that Biden got a speeding ticket in 2004 and we're going to get a bunch of "this totally resets the election!!" from the media.

Lock him up! Lock him up!

Let me get this straight. The Deutche Bank is being investigating for money laundering Russian money to Trump and the sitting US Attorney General, appointed by the President under scrutiny has agreed to take up the case? Really?

It's a friend of his. They go way back to Barr's first go round as AG. Pretty nifty way to keep tabs on everything when you're a busy busy man isn't it?

I'll even give you another data point on Minnesota.

On the same general election ballot as Mitt Romney were two state constitution amendments: one to ban gay marriage and one to mandate voter ID. Both measures were pushed hard by the GOP, both measures got more votes than Romney, and both measures lost by daylight. Also, the GOP Legislature that put the measures on the ballot were swept out of both chambers.

Fixed.

And those of you worried about there being no October surprises against Trump remember that The Atlantic EIC stated that they've just begun to tell the story.  Much more to come. https://thehill.com/homenews/media/515316-atlantic-editor-says-trump-story-calling-service-members-losers-has-only-just

Can someone explain to me why Cubans vote conservative? Genuinely curious, I have no idea.

Probably already answered but:  many Cubans in the US were landed gentry in Cuba; Cubans are Catholic; even poor Cubans were either exiled or effectively exiled by a communist regime; Cubans tend to think of themselves as Europeans, not mestizos or oppressed natives, regardless of what their actual ancestry may be.

The one nearly sure-fire conservative-breeding factor there is the close and unpleasant encounter with a communist regime.  Anyone from a country like that is going to be reflexively conservative for a generation or two or three.  Cubans, Hungarians, Russians, various Slavs, etc.
