The scariest thing of all this is that it took a pandemic and 1968 style rioting to finally break through and damage his polling numbers. Biden was leading trump before all of this crap, but it was much tighter.

Doesn’t give me much hope for the intelligence of our country.

You had hope left? Feel like you haven’t been paying attention then.

Anybody know if this is a legit thing?  I know a whole group of former GW staffers are planning to work for Biden hundreds of  hundreds of former GW staffers were planning to endorse - but hadn't heard about this.

My parents honestly believe that the only thing stopping the liberal mob from taking all of their (middle class) money and burning America to the ground is Republicans. My mom is taking about burying gold in the back yard or using offshore bank accounts. She started watching Tucker during Covid lockdown and has gone from normal to batshit crazy in 3 months.

I try to show them how tucker is trying to manipulate them by taking something with a tiny grain of truth and extrapolating that out to “the world is ending” but they won’t have it. We spent 2 hours going over the first 8 minutes of his show point by point, stopping to fact check everything. They will get it for a few minutes until the next segment comes on and the world is ending again.

It’s just sad to me because I feel like I lost my parents. They saved their entire lives to have a good retirement and now this is how they are going to spend it. Living in fear. I would love to get one swing at that little fuck. He knows what he’s doing and that it’s brainwashing people.

Same thing here. My dad is starting to see the light, and actually called me about the bleach cure to ask me what the hell the president was thinking. Both he and my stepmom are distancing and wearing masks etc. I think he might actually sit this one out, but my stepmom is another story.

She rails on about socialism, but gets pissed when I mention the woman owned business status she enjoys and the bailout money she received. She literally told me on father's day that if Biden were elected he would "kill us all". I pointed out that Trump has a body count of 125k and counting but she was having none of it. She's a lost cause.

No, you see, giving money to her is supporting Americans and small businesses. Giving money to other people is socialistic welfare.

The selfish greed in this country is absurd. Fuck her (not like your dad does) and everyone like her.

That's fantastic. Winning Texas is a pipe dream.  But a 2-4% Trump lead in Texas means Biden is running about 5-7% ahead of Hillary, which is more than enough to get to 270. In reality he only needs to run a half percent ahead of Hillary, but the 5-7% leaves plenty of cushion for the Trump voters too ashamed to admit it to a pollster (which I believe is a real thing).

I'm looking at most of these polls more from that perspective. I want to see Biden running ahead of Hillary in all of the state polls. I think I'll be comfortable if he's 4+ percentage points ahead of her benchmarks, because that leaves enough room for the "SILENT MAJORITY!!!" to do their thing and still lose.

Interesting breakdown here:

Quote

Slightly more voters say they are certain about their support for Biden (40%) than say the same about Trump (34%). Fully half (50%), though, say they are not at all likely to support the incumbent while 39% say the same about the challenger. In addition to Biden’s current firm support, another 3% say they are very likely to vote for him and 9% are somewhat likely, while 6% are not too likely. In addition to Trump’s current firm support, another 2% say they are very likely to vote for him and 6% are somewhat likely, while 6% are not too likely.

Among white voters with a college degree, 62% have ruled out a vote for Trump while just 31% say the same about Biden. On the other hand, 56% of white voters without a college degree are not at all likely to support Biden while 37% say the same about Trump. Among voters from other racial or ethnic groups, 61% have ruled out Trump and just 22% say the same for Biden.

Biden leads with all degree holders 66-29.

While independents voters have rarely played an important role in statewide elections in Texas, increasing competitiveness in some statewide races as well as in competitive legislative and congressional districts makes their attitudes potentially more important, despite what research suggests is their relative lack of interest in, and attention to politics. (In the Trump/Biden presidential head to head, 41% chose Trump, 27% Biden, and 32% said they hadn’t thought enough about it to have an opinion. That last undecided number clearly illustrates how different independents are from anyone likely to be reading this.)

from the polling link

who the hell are these people?

32% haven't thought about it enough to have an opinion.

120something days to make up your goddamn mind

Biden winning the overall election easily and coming within 5 in Texas is my goal. That would get rid of dotard and hopefully bring some down ballot victories as well. It would also continue the trajectory of Texas turning purple.

Bush +22 (won Travis county lol)

Bush +23

McCain +12

Romney +16

Trump +9

Something like Trump +4 wouldn’t be a bad result at all and would give a lot of hope for the future.

Agreed. Trump with a 4 point lead In TX sounds about right. Which means he has to spend money here.

I think it’d be smart for the Biden campaign to reach out to Texans and promise to spend money on ads here when fundraising. I’ll donate more money if I know they will try to compete in Texas.

In one of the Lulz threads there are a couple of posters saying there is no one worth voting for.  I just can't even with these people.  That's code for I'm a fucking dumbass that doesn't pay attention to anything happening in the real world and I just want to be a contrarian asshole.

Being able to say that they're a "Republican voting against Trump" will help in this election because it enables those Republicans who are too brainwashed in GO TEAM GO to vote against him. It obviously won't help that much long-term and won't help this election down ballot at all, but it will help a little when it comes to changing things. That's because the moment that those people hit submit on their ballot they will have broken down the psychological wall that has prevented them from voting for Democrats even when they've been better candidates than Republicans. And that has obviously happened plenty of times for many of them over the years (only a doofus would argue that Republicans have always been better candidates or that Democrats have always been better candidates in every single race on every single ballot) and it wasn't enough in those races.

Some of them, not most or even many, will then start analyzing the current state of the entire Republican Party once that wall is gone.

Question: WHO THE FUCK are the 18% of voters who think we are on the right track?  Can you imagine witnessing the current carnage and saying "yeah, we're on the right track here.  I want 4 more years of this."

Agree, it’s really impressive Dems in Texas have continued to increase their percentages statewide with little to no investment. Beto was the first significant investment in statewide politics by both local donors and nationwide fundraisers and we saw what happened there. Before that Tony Sanchez?

18% of white supremacists/boogaloo boys/billionaires. Seems like a fair enough snapshot of America.

I go look at texags sometimes to see what the right wing guys think and I’ve seen them saying that trump has handled the corona virus very well ( I guess they can’t read graphs over there) and that BLM has nothing to do with trump.

honest answer - they don't exist.

the people who gave that answer are trump loyalists and gave whatever answer was best for trump, regardless of the question.  strap a polygraph on those same 18% and you probably get a different number.  i'm sure when i was 16-25 years old, and had my burnt orange goggles on, i would've given some pretty ridiculous answers to a college football poll.  that's what this is to them - a team sport.

GTFO of here with that bullshit. There may be posters there you hate, but it's not the cesspool you make it out to be. And comparing it to TigerDroppings is LOL bad. I love how you talk about being happy to find a home here, but then how quickly you're content to shit on large aspects of it and write missives calling the moderators and site owners amoral pieces of shit whenever a breeze blows in a direction you don't like.

I still think there is probably a percentage of people who intellectual feel that the dismantling of most parts of the federal government is the best way to go.  In a perfect world, I could see a reasonable person in government trying to determine which tasks should be done at the local, state or federal level.  Or who believes we are headed into a post "national state" world where we need some serious reorganization.

Those guys, if reasonable, would hate Trump more than most because of the disgusting, treasonous and mendacious way he is going about destroying the federal government.

i could be wrong, but i took her comment as a:

-all of the surly trump supporters can be found on the daily texan threads

-but not all of the daily texan threads are populated 100% by trump supporters

we've obviously run most of them out of here.  mission fucking accomplished, i'd say.  but yeah, comparing anything to tigerdroppings is probably unfair.

i didn't see that part of it.

as for the 18% (or the 38%), i know we've crossed paths with these fine citizens a time or two here.  i don't really go to dt.  or tigerdroppings.

Personally I wish they’d come back. Johnny Sack was always good for a laugh now and then.

To be fair they're pretty familiar with this one, if you can consider it a graph.

Assuming that we're currently in the early "setback" period now, I'm dreading what happens in October.

No doubt in my mind Tigerdroppings does some lifting to keep Louisiana red.  I’m not sure if they’re directly profiting off of it though. They’ve pretty much banned all the prolific anti-Trump posters but the Trumper posters think all the liberals ran away because they’re snowflakes.

DT is nowhere close to as bad as tigerdroppings.  However, the phenomenon in DT surrounding the discourse when it comes to politics is the same shit I witnessed on tigerdroppings five years ago. It’s almost an organic community effort to suppress dissenting voices. Get enough posters to report and complain about someone they don’t like and boom, poster is banned. Doesn’t really matter what they did.

It’s not the moderators fault either b/c there’s no way to really judiciously police it.

I am also self aware enough to realize the same phenomenon happens here sometimes in CR when we get a pro-Trump poster. The Internet can be mean and people take shit too far with the personal attacks.  No one is perfect either.

People can watch, listen, read Hitler’s speeches and completely understand why he rose to power.  The texts of his speeches were emotionally moving and when combined with his delivery, the guy could unite most of Germany. This made him especially evil and dangerous considering the ideology/consequences behind the rhetoric but it was understandable how it happened.

With Trump, he was always an imbecilic clown and the fact we elevated this fucking moron to the most powerful position in the world is another level of embarrassment.  50 years from now when people research the Trump era, they’re going to conclude we were a nation of racist idiots led by the biggest racist idiot of them all. It will be almost unexplainable.
