Again, it's going to be a dangerous time -- he is unhinged (literally -- the man is psychotic), and unrestrained.

The crying about a stolen election will be continuous, and more outlandish by the day.  There will be stories about "a million Trump ballots being burned in a field in Pennsylvania!  I saw it!", shit like that.  And the stochastic terrorism ramp-up will yield results.  Some people are going to die.  And the Secret Service guarding Biden better be locked and loaded like never before.  Trump has created a cult of tens of millions of crazy people who live in an alternate reality.  I mean a COMPLETELY alternate reality.

Remember how Andrea Yates drowned her kids, and in her warped mind, it was to SAVE the from Satan?  Trump has millions of Andrea Yates following him, and to save this country.....they'll drown us all in the bathtub, with glee.

Buckle up.  It's going to be rough.

There is conspiracy theories after most recent elections, this one will be more so because the red states turned blue post election. It lends itself to the narrative. It sure would be nice if all the states would have a unified process. Variables create questions, questions create dissension, and on down the line we go.

I think the Republican Party keeps distancing itself from him and his rants. There will be some shit that gets stirred up, but overall the Republican Party is going to count their blessings that they potentially hold the Senate and they will start hammering Biden, Harris, Pelosi, et al immediately to get up on the next cycle.

We might need a Georgia run-off thread but I'll put this here since Georgia will be on our minds for a while. We have a chance at 2 senate seats and giving us the Senate. That fucking turtle asshole might just get flipped on his back.

I feel sorry for GA residents until that runoff is over.  Holy fuck at the money that will pour into that state.

I truly believe that we are seeing something amazing beginning to unfold in the Judiciary branch of government.

But what happens when you get a competent R version of Trump with the same philosophies (Tom Cotton?) who has a clear and direct plan to weaponize the R aligned judiciary?

I'm not worried about everyone else in the GOP.  Fundamentally, they are of no consequence for this mix.  To the voters who support the party, Trump IS the party.  Whatever he says -- and he is going to say a metric shit ton of dangerous shit -- is what will govern their behavior.

And beyond conspiracy theories happening after every election, you have THE conspiracy theory demographic involved here.  These are pizzagaters, and Qanons, and all that shit.  They are already well beyond any realm of rational thought.  And now they are going to be urged to wage war by their orange god.  The risk level is really, really fucking high.  Again, they are ALREADY getting busted heading to PA to do violence, as just one example.  Once they think that there's no way to save the Republic but blow up democrats, that's when it gets dangerous.

It's not like we've never seen deranged right wingers decide that the government is now the enemy and they must strike.  I've been to Oklahoma City.

I truly believe that we are seeing something amazing beginning to unfold in the Judiciary branch of government. It is true that the over the last 4 years the Trump administration has been jamming as many conservative judges as they possibly can, but it is becoming clear to me that the Judiciary is starting to really take it personal that they aren't being seen as a 3rd branch of government in the grand scheme of checks and balances. Republicans keep chirping over and over that it's all going to work out because the courts are going to rule for them. The tone, however, is more of a "they owe us, they're our stooges and will do our bidding" rather than "we have a strong case and the court will see it that way."

Just look at the Abbott early extension ruling. They didn't even follow the proper procedure or address why the filing wasn't timely. Did the Texas GOP learn their lesson there? No, they did not. They challenge the Harris drive-thru and the first question from a very conservative judge was "why wasn't this in front of me two weeks ago?" They didn't address it in their motion even though it was strongly hinted by the Texas Supreme opinion that it will be an issue. And that being the first question was a huge, blinking road sign from a conservative judge saying "GUYS, ADDRESS THE TIMING ISSUE" and they completely ignored it. Didn't even try. I refuse to believe that they aren't smart enough to catch it. It's because they know they don't have an argument. They just expected the court to rule in their favor because they are all Republicans.

Fast forward to Michigan. They plop a case down that gets immediately dismissed because no relief could be granted anyway because the counting is over, the state already issued a directive to allow poll watchers in a previous case, so the current suit was unnecessary, and there was literally zero basis for there to be surveillance video of drop boxes. The Trump attorney alleged fraud, but provided zero facts, names, or locations in which fraud occurred. He just plopped an entirely baseless, entirely moot claim on the judges desk and said "gimme," continuing the national trend of poking the Judiciary bear.

And to circle it all back to your cherry-picking issue, the Trump administration isn't even hiding it. They were demanding that the counts be stopped in states they were ahead and continued in states they were behind. They didn't even give the Judiciary the courtesy of an attempt of an ulterior motive. The just jumped into the courtroom and said "gimme." If SCOTUS was really on board with giving Trump a helping hand, the Trump administration has done SCOTUS zero favors in providing SCOTUS a foundation on which to build their ruling on. Instead, it appears that the Trump administration isn't even providing them cement to build a foundation. "Gimme." The Court doesn't take kindly to being seen as anything less than the 3rd branch of government and we're going to see that play out the rest of the way.

Good analysis.

This is where Trump's governmental and general incompetence is finally biting him in the ass.

In litigation between private parties over a contract or some such, you'd be surprised how well incompetent bluster works.  The whole Trump MO of flooding the channel with BS can delay and postpone the final reckoning for an indeterminate amount of time.  And all along, the opposing party is spending attorneys fees and time and getting increasingly frustrated.  This whole scenario can work in a person like Trump's favor, driving his opponent to a settlement just so s/he can unstick himself from the Trump tar baby.

Any litigator on here will confirm.

But this kind of stuff, where you actually have to have a cogent legal position, credible evidence, and decent attorneys and not just blowhard assholes, has never worked for Trump and isn't about to start now.

Also, I have a certain faith in the judiciary.  Yes, a partisan judge might indulge partisanship when presented with a close call and little or no other basis for decision.  But you have to give them a close call.  Trumpco is not good at that.

There are a lot of men in the public spotlight who make my brain explode, in that they're way past retirement age, worth a shit ton of money, have it made in life, and yet they keep working their high-stress jobs until they die or get fired. Mack Brown is a perfect example of that IMO. I always think "dude, take your millions of dollars, live in your ridiculous lakehouse, go play golf every day then retire to your pool in the afternoon for margaritas, and spend as much time as you possibly can with your grandkids". But those guys just don't know life without their jobs and their identity.

Joe Biden was the exact opposite. He stepped away and seemed perfectly content to spend time with his family, with his wife whom it appears he has a tremendous relationship with, and, well, his ridiculous giant bad ass house and spread.

I truly don't believe he really wanted to come back that badly. But he felt he needed to. Whether or not he really did need to might be up for debate, but he is a good man and I respect him.

And he got the job done. Fuck yeah.

Definitely this.  I have a family member who worked with Biden for years, and remains plugged in with the family and the Biden team.  That's absolutely it -- it's why he didn't try to put up a fight in 2016 (even though we really needed him them).  He wanted to live out his days in peace, with his family.

But the call came in loud and clear, and he answered it.  Seriously, it is a real sacrifice.

Gary Johnson mode enabled.  This is what we'll hear from the shitbags that licked the boots of the Cheeto for the past four years.

"I didn't fully support him."

"I don't even really know what his policy positions were."

"I was really against Cheeto, I just didn't make a big deal about it"

"I thought he was wrong on a number of issues, I just didn't tell the whole world like you."  aka the Cornyn defense.

"Who is that guy?" Deployed when there's a discussion about Pence, Barr, Guiliani, Carlson, Hannity, Rush, etc.

All, of course, accompanied by a sniveling whataboutism to try and make the other person in the conversation look like the fool.  The tells and tendencies are known, nobody on this board believes the bullshit train Trump supporters will desperately try and ride. This is a low, low point in American democracy.  If you were on the wrong side, you must wear that Orange T for eternity. This was a push for American fascism, buttressed with domestic terrorism. There is no excuse.

Let's just stand back for a minute and appreciate what an ignominy it is to fail to lose re-election.  Donald Trump knows that and it's going to further grease his slide into madness.
Which is not great given that he has the nuclear codes for another ten weeks.

It’s not just that, it’s that he’s seeing alllll his R underlings that he thinks he lebron’d for the past 4 years getting re elected, house seats flipping, courts stacked.... yet he is essentially the only one the American electorate has said f you to. You mean they don’t hate everybody? Just me?

I like it but Boockvar is still pending before SCOTUS and it looks much meatier than the other challenges.
