Dude wants to replace the ten year old water heater, with Bradford White 40G, and the valve for $1550.  Fair?  What say you surly mofo's?

Does that price include dealing with old school water heater closet?  Apparently, the new water heaters are shorter and wider such that they don't fit in old water heater closets.

I came home last night to what sounded like a water fall inside the house.  Fortunately for me the pan, which was to the brim , was doing its job.  The wife said she came home to the sound.  So it had done that for a couple of hours.  The water heater simply could no longer hold water.  The heater is in the attic.

Holy shit, I bought nat gas one from HD for $450 and had a craigslist dude install for $150, including haul off of old one. My water closet is incredibly easy access

When we got our last one, our plumber told us we were lucky on the price.  Some new regulations are requiring a thicker bottom and more efficiency if I recall.  Price was about to go way up.  Ours will be dead in about 8 more years by my experience with the old sort of them.
