What a beautiful game by Kari, I hope we can sign him to about a ten year contract

Per an article in The Athletic, Stars had 80 points through 66 games.  Since 06, 101 teams had 80  points after 66 and all made the playoffs.  Stars playoff odds currently at 1%.  That is one epic collapse.

I better not see that pile of garbage lehtonen in a Stars uniform next year.

he is unrestricted free agent and making fucking almost $6mil a year which makes him like the fourth highest paid player on the damn team.  Trails Benn, Rads and fucking Spezza at $7.5m !!!!! He is also unrestricted.

they both better be gone next year, give the money to someone who deserves it, Seguin.

Not sure if anyone is planning to go to the game tomorrow but I'm coming up with a dozen or so stars fans from Austin tomorrow. Hmu if you want to meet up. Team may suck, but Mo will be in the house and that's reason enough to celebrate

nobody wants to talk about Jamie's second goal from last night?

Beastmode Jaime would have been useful during that losing streak  :(

Actually he was one of the few playing well during that stretch. He had 8 goals and 8 assists (and 6 of those 16 points were on the power play) in 17 games in  March. It's hard to blame Jamie for where the team is right now.

True.  The sins of the team fall to the captain though, founded or not.  At the end of the day, I think it is really more Hitchcock's system, the lack of another scoring line, and Bishop going down in no particular order.

I think the collapse has more to do with Hitch than any one or group of players. In the pursuit to round out the defense and goaltending he all but neutered the offense. I was reticent about him coming back, and now I'm convinced he's not the right fit for this team.

Yeah, I think he will be shuffled upstairs after this season.  It will be interesting to see who is the next (hopefully) coach.

I know no one cares, but McKenna getting the start tonight. Guessing it's Kari tomorrow night. Win out and at least feel good going into next season.

And of course the hockey gods gave us a b2b on the west coast to end the season. This schedule was kinda stacked against us this year.

Nill has to get this hire right or else he’ll be gone next year. I went back and looked at his draft record and it is hot garbage.

Huh? How did you reach that conclusion? We have probably the top defenseman prospect in the league and several forwards that are going to play in the bigs. The goalie pipeline is very strong too

Lulz. He’s been here since 2013 and we had Julius Honka and Remi Elie (14 points in 72 games) as the best players he’s drafted to help our team last year.

The Athletic ranked the Stars 28th out of 30 teams in draft record from 2011-2015

https://theathletic.com/277861/2018/03/20/from-worst-to-first-ranking-how-each-nhl-team-performs-at-the-draft/

When you’ve been the GM for five years, the players you helped scout, draft, and develop should be making a difference for the NHL club by now. Well, let’s take a look at every major, top two-round selection Nill has been in charge of.

There are zero current impact players on the list. From 2013, Nichushkin is playing in Russia as a KHLer, Dickinson is perpetually up and down between the Dallas Stars and Texas Stars (AHL), and Elie is a bottom-six checking-line player with little offensive output.

2014’s Draft was no better. Though Honka has a 50-60 point ceiling, he has yet to consistently crack the Dallas lineup and impose his offensive skill. Pollock is a wasted pick, in a sense, traded away for Kris Russell two trade deadlines ago and playing for the Calgary Flames’ AHL club.

2015 can be marked as a success as Gurianov and Hintz will be NHLers sooner or later, but the players drafted around the first-round Russian currently with Texas – like Mat Barzal, Kyle Connor, and Jake DeBrusk – show the error of Nill’s way.
