Shiner may be one of the better defenses he faces this year, they returned 21 seniors which is crazy for that level.   In the scrimmage last week  vs Weimar he had 5 carries for 160 yards.  I think he will be alright, 9 yards a carry and 4 touchdowns when everyone is keying on you cause they couldn’t get anything else going on offense at all and versus the number 1 team in the state is not bad.

"Brooks carried 16 times for 142 yards and scored on runs of 18, 26 and 1 yards, and returned a fumble 51 yards for a touchdown."
Avg almost 9 yds per carry, score 4 TDs, but he couldn't stop his defense from giving up 44 points? Pitiful, pull his scholly.
Trying to compare him to Cedric Benson when we're not expecting him to play a Cedric Benson role for us is asinine. He's meant to be the RB2 for this class, and he did his fair share of dominating at a level where he should be dominating. Would he be able to jump to 6A and have the same game? Probably not. But we're not recruiting him to give him 25 carries a game.

Also of note, he plays on defense and is the punter.

By comparison,  Cedric Benson dominated the largest classification for 3 straight seasons with everyone in the stadium knowing he was getting the ball

If Brooks isn't another Cedrick Benson, then I trust he's another Earl Campbell or Ricky Williams. Because is he isn't, what on earth is Herman trying to do with this roster? Rest assured I have a sternly worded letter en route to Bellmont.

Six TD's tonight, one interception, punts for his team and recovered an onside kick.  He glides with good vision when he runs like Jamaal Charles but not as fast.

How many punts did he down inside the opponents 20?

the real question is can he get to his 2nd progression on a fake?

Hook'em Brooks.  Don't rush to cram 30 pounds of muscle in a year.  Reminds me of Kennedy Brooks for OU.  If Texas can get 1000 yards out of him, we all will be more than happy.

Brooks definitely has a bad mother f***er wallet.

Looks like a good change-up kinda back.  Might be great on 3rd downs if he catches the ball well.

Already saw him lined up in the slot and used on a jet sweep run...

I think Brooks is a very down back. As is Bijan.

JFC man. No one has said that small school guys can’t be good. The point isn’t that he plays small school ball and sometimes gets tackled by 140 lb kids. It’s that he’s not dominating his level. Go watch JK Dobbins HS hudl, then watch Brooks. They’re not even in the same universe.

This didn't age well.

Great balance.

Doesn't go down easily and breaks a lot of tackles.  Will need to work on using pads better and ball security.  Damn fun to watch -- has a demeanor that reminds me of Earl Campbell.

1st half stats:  225yds rushing   2 rushing TDs

Three straight plays with Brooks not touching the ball is criminal.

Did Herman get fired and take the Hallettsville job at halftime?

If he adds a lot of weight, slows down and can’t get open, we can find a spot on the field for him.
