Did not Great Britain kind of think the EU was bullshit too?

The older, dumber ones did...just like their counterpart rubes in America.

First, education and, to a lesser extent, age were the strongest demographic predictors of voting behavior.  Older and less-educated voters were more likely to vote “leave.”

Quote

Voting to leave the European Union was strongly associated with holding socially conservative political beliefs, opposing cosmopolitanism, and thinking life in Britain is getting worse rather than better.

Quote

Among people who said feminism is a “force for ill,” 74 percent voted to leave...Similarly, 69 percent of people who thought globalization a force for ill voted to leave, as did 81 percent of people who viewed multiculturalism as a force for ill.

Sweet job attacking the messenger.  I’ve followed Rand and Ron for a long time, like 10+ years.

I was a huge fan of both for a long time.  I even have a vote for Ron Paul T-shirt in my closet.

Their behavior and public statements over the past few years tells me everything I need to know.  At least I can observe and conclude as opposed to burying my head in the sand because I like their libertarian ideas.

If that were true then you would know their message the past few years has been the same as it was to years prior. Would you have us believe that Putin has been running a long con with Ron Paul going back to the 1970's?

Fyi, while I am a libertarian, I don't subscribe to their anti-globalization policies as I am a globalist. So no, I am not burying my head, I don't even share their ideas on international agencies like the U.N. or NATO.

The political world is complex, too complex to fit everything inside of your binary Putin narrative. There are many different political beliefs out there that exist outside of the influence of Putin.

I agree. That doesn’t mean we can or should ignore glaring repeated coincidences in our political leaders behavior and public statements as they relate to the current Russian subversion operations.

The Kremlin operation is complex itself. It’s massive in scale and a legitimate threat to free societies everywhere if left unchecked.

We should be very suspicious of leaders that seek to minimize or trivialize it at this point in time.

haha.

Just not cosmopolitan enough...or embracing the socialism.

To the point of the thread though, we aren't the only ones saying the EU sucks.  Our biggest ally in the world rejected it long before Trump did.

Jesus, man.  Fuck you.  Seriously.  At times I actually find myself wondering what it would be like in a civil war.   As a middle-aged man, I have nothing to live for but my children's future.  Make of that implication what you wish -- you're probably right (but hey, maybe not).

Fuck the treasonous Trumpkins.

I thought we were talking about Rand?  Before you launch the civil war from your iPhone while on the shitter make sure we’re even talking about the same thing.

If you think I was responding to one dip-shit post of a thousand you spew out like party over country diarrhea, you're even more stupid than I thought.

Did I say "fuck you"?

Why do you have a problem with the opposing team scoring touchdowns on us? We try to score touchdowns on them too? Therefore we shouldn't complain when they beat us.

Fucking morons.

It might be a little more complex than that. Consider the "blowback" theory during the Bush II administration, it suggested that our troubles with Islamic terrorism were the result of our meddling with Middle Eastern affairs. People that advocated the idea that our adventures in the Middle East caused unintended consequences didn't necessarily support or justify Islamic terrorism. It's just an explanation of how we got into a situation and hopefully a lesson in how to not make the same mistake.

With that said, Trump and his acolytes probably are not advocating any historical lessons be learned but merely using past events as a smokescreen.

Jimmy you need to settle down.  Keep talking like that and you’ll end up in one of the stricter re-education camps.

You are a well known trump ass licker. Why should he take advice from you?

Well I guess I’m not a very good Trump ass licker.  Just this morning I disagreed with him on whether or not the EU is a foe.

It’s hard for most people here to see any nuance to anything.  They’re actually exactly what they loathe, just on the other side.

Ok. So you’re a trump ass licker who tries to appear to be reasonable and “both sides.” My mistake.

And just so we’re clear. There is no “both sides” to trump. You either oppose him and his ultimate quest for dictatorship, which he doesn’t even bother to hide, and the wrecking of this country,  or you don’t. There is no nuance. If there is it’s something you invented in your head to justify your rot.

Of course it's more complex than that. I'm not sure what your comments about Islamic terrorism have to do with the subject. Islamic terrorism is a 20th century phenomenon that dates back decades. A new chapter was started when U.S. forces under Bush 41 set up bases in Saudi Arabia in order to evict Saddam Hussein from Kuwait. That was the motivation for bin Laden and Al Qaeda to target the U.S. mainland, specifically the twin towers, for terrorist attacks.

After Bush 43 deposed Saddam, which had absolutely nothing to do with Islamic terrorism and everything to do with getting Dubya re-elected, lo and behold America's chosen leader of Iraq -- Nouri al-Maliki -- won the election. Of course we manipulated that election. And we did it with the help of MI6. You know, our closest allies? Friends who warned us about the Russians and their apparent collusion with the Trump campaign?

This is how the spy game works. Our spies go to other countries in order to commit espionage, a crime in those countries punishable by imprisonment or death, in order to protect our interests. When other countries' spies do the same to us, they're criminals and should be caught and punished. It is appropriate for the FBI to do that police work. That's their job. Anyone who defends foreign spies because we have spies too is as much of a fucking moron as anyone who delights in losing football games because both teams are trying to score.

Just think about this for a minute.

tumblr_olnecfjGhR1rfd7lko1_500.gif

That this has arisen as a question that involves any thought at all shocks and awes me. That answering "Uh, no, I don't think so" marks one as differing with the President of the United States of America was unthinkable less than two years ago.

Your picture is fitting. Kubrick, from his adopted home in England, did a great job of deconstructing America in the Shining, and seems to have predicted the rise of trump and the trumpkins. Everyone looks for some hidden meaning in the film, when in fact, just like trump, it’s laid out in plain sight. But only if you’re willing to look in the mirror.

Correct. Not to stray too far, but we have seen “blowback” from other areas over the last 50 years. Might even say we have a little Central American “blowback” right now.

I wasn't commenting on Islamic terrorism. I thought it was pretty obvious that I was making a comment on the fact that attributing causation does not equal justification.

Just so you know...

Trump is such a fucking moron, such a piece of shit, that if there are policies of his that I agree on, then:

1) I'm almost 100% certain that he is lying and doesn't actually support it, or

2) I most likely need to readjust my beliefs because they align with his in some way.

I'm not wishing harm on anyone, but it's interesting to imagine a world without Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. If Putin went down, someone similar or a cabal would pop up. The government and mafia are indistinguishable, so the authoritarian train is just going to keep running. But we, for now, are still hanging on to civil liberties, democratic institutions and processes, big shared values, and some sort of faith in our system. Even if Pence or (gags) McConnell came in, we'd have something resembling our country back.

Serious question.  What are the chances that the CIA, Justice Department, or Secret Service has bugged something of Trump's (cell phone, flag pin, etc.) To listen to his private meeting with Putin?

It won't be real surprising when we find out that DOTUS and Putin have been IMing over Signal or some other encrypted app.

They need to talk about that cyberterrorism task force. We could just invite key officials in the GRU to the CIA headquarters in Langley. They could put on a picnic with a CIA v. GRU flag football game.

Better test the GRU team for PEDs.

They would try to do it on Putin’s side first.

Ughhhhh.

I’ve been out of the loop because my in-laws were in town this weekend and I’m just now catching up.

BUT THIS MORHERFUCKER DISRESPECTED THE QUEEN?!!?

QEII IS AN INTERNATIONAL TREASURE AND A DELIGHT AND ANYONE WHO ACTS A FOOL AROUND HER NEEDS AN ASS WHOOPIN!

I wish she had smacked his orange befurred noggin with her ever present handbag.

I so glad all the cool, young royals snubbed the fuck out of him and his Real Doll wife.

I really didn’t think I could hate him more.
