So how does someone go to the extreme to prove he's the greatest person and President of all time? He uses the biggest weapon we have. I have always been afraid that he's just looking for any excuse he can fund to drop a nuclear bomb.  If for no other reason than he can. But even more scary, to show the world, and go down in history, as the greatest world leader of all time... at least in his mind. There is a pressure building and he is reacting more and more. This could get catastrophic really quickly. Tell me I'm wrong.

Fortunately, it takes more than just the will of the President to drop a nuclear bomb. If he attempts it, we would more likely end up with a 25th amendment removal, or a military coup.

Can someone point to me one good "deal" Trump has made in the last 20 years?  He's a really shitty deal maker and more people need to call him on it.

The only successful deals that he ever made are when he creates a shell company, negotiates a seemingly amicable deal with contractors, banks, municipalities, and states, allows them to fulfill their parts of the deal, and then declares the shell company bankrupt afterward leaving them holding the bag while he operates the completed project under a new shell company. That worked for a while, but lenders got wise which is why he ended up in bed with Russian lenders who dont stand for that type of shit.  That's also never a possibility when negotiating on behalf of a nation state.

Just taking in that this is being discussed.  Everyone not an imbecile knew this guy was unfit for the office and should never be allowed anywhere near the nuclear codes.

But Hillary though.

When you ask Trump fans this question they get real flustered. It's fun.

Fuck Comey. The president and GOP Congress aren't counting on Dems to "rush to the socialist left."  They're counting on (1) convincing voters that whatever Dems do is equivalent to rushing to the socialist left, and (2) political idiots like Comey helping them do that by pushing such false equivalencies.  Nice job playing your part after putting Trump in the White House through your incompetence, James.  Dems could adopt the Heritage Foundation's conservative health care plan and the GOP would paint it as a rush to socialism and use it to win elections.  Oh wait, they did, and that's what happened, and now they've gotten to eat their cake and have it, too.
Republicans have gotten their way on policy in this country for nearly 40 years.  Even the Dems' policy achievements are largely repackaged from the right.   The aforementioned Heritage Foundation health care bill, Welfare Reform, Glass-Steagal repeal, the Crime Bill, and on and on.  The actual lib "socialist" stuff that Dems run on are from the 60s and earlier and are the only popular policies they have (and aren't really socialist).  And I'm not saying that all of that has been bad.  Some has, some hasn't.  But it's been a 40-year swing to the right.
My point on this being that Trump is able to do what he is doing because he is adding upon years of Republican governance.   Dems couldn't flip the country socialist overnight even if they wanted to.  It doesn't work that way in this county, even if Bernie and AOC get a movement behind them (and even they aren't straight-up socialist).   The most Dems can do is start moving the pendulum back and giving some lib solutions a shot, with heavy restraints imposed by the opposing party in our system.   If you're worried about socialism roaring to power, you have at least ten years, and probably more, of incremental policy that has to happen from the left before its an issue.  And voters are unlikely to let that happen.
Suggesting otherwise is just Republican propaganda.

This is spot on. There is literally nothing the left can do that won’t be vilified with the s word. The ACA is the perfect example. Red states still won’t expand because they called it socialist and put Obama’s name on it. There are no “centrist” voters, there are low information voters who are largely indifferent. The right has libeled the left so much over 40 years that these people perceive the right as “the lesser of two evil.” Hence, Trump.

The solution for the left is to support all democrats who sit anywhere in the lefts spectrum. Centrists to Bernie. The GOP supports Donald Fucking Trump. And they own all branches of government on nearly every level. And this dolt Comey still want to buy into the scary labels. The post is spot on. Don’t start with a centrist plan like Obamacare, start with universal and if you have to move to the center to get something done, fine. That’s how it works. Dems are cowards, and herevwe are with a dangerous lunatic in office whose approval will never drop below 30%. But by all means keep doing the same fucking thing.

The president is officially a lunatic.
I thought he was just a megalomaniac, a compulsive liar, a racist, a rapist, and a con man.
No, it's much worse than that.  The dude is completely unhinged.

You are coming to this conclusion just now?

I was wondering this morning, what would be the trigger to push the pentagon to take him out.  My gut tells me that the majority of the military are probably Trump supporters, so it's doubtful anything would happen.

I don't know how people can watch cable news at 7 in the morning without wanting to kill themselves.

Hell it's bad enough being in this thread in the morning. I can't imagine watching those windbags repeat the same bullshit they talked about all weekend.

But he's rich and says what you think. Apparently that's all it takes to get the American Idiot vote.

As much as I would like to believe that he cornered the market on idiots, there are plenty of idiots who knew better than to vote for Trump.

I watch because this is history.  How the media enables Trump is a big part of the story.  If we make it out of Trumpism, this moment in time will be looked back on as one of the most fascinating times in the USA. It’s hard to not get emotional about it because it’s so scary and weird but I’ve accepted we’re fucked in a Dr. Strangelove sort of way.

This. Trying to figure out who is rushing to wake up in the morning to turn on Fox and Friends.

I don't even turn on the TV in the morning. Why bother?  Who wants to watch shitty cable news and get all riled up before getting into their car and driving to work?

The rank and file are probably pro Trump. The brass like his budget but not his decision making. He wouldn't be able to nuke Iran unless Iran nuked someone first. But it wouldnt need to be an open coup. As soon as he requests the nuclear football and gives some nutjob reason for it, they can call a 25th amendment VP-Cabinet meeting and have him removed. Even a majority of his shit cabinet have a line they wont cross and I would hope that an unjustified nuclear strike is on the other side of that line.

“When Gallup recently asked Americans what the most important (non-economic) problem facing the country today is, the amount of people saying Russia was so low they couldn’t even attribute a number to it.

Per the same poll, people have also stopped caring about abortion, social security, and gay rights. Only 1% of the people care about terrorism or taxes. So, I guess we can just stop talking about those issues and focus on the really specific "dissatisfaction with government" issue, whatever the fuck that is.

Great work Gallup.  Well done.

You really believe that Betsy DeVos, Wilbur Ross, and Steven Mnuchin give enough of a fuck about the lives of brown people to take a stand on something?

Yeah, 25th Amendment is not going to happen.  A Jaime Lannister situation would be more likely.

Need a simple majority.  Not all of them. Of those, DeVos and Mnuchin would vote unfit under this circumstance though. So would Sessions, Kelly, Mattis, Acosta, Chao, Azar, Pompeo and Pence. And no, they don't care about the brown people. They care about nuclear dominos falling on their own heads.

And really, Pence would provide better cover at this point for those who are there to fuck up govt regs.

It's okay. He'll just ratchet up the rhetoric, meet with Rouhani, then declare victory. Art of the deal. Very stable genius.

The republican Congress could impeach and remove if they didn't care about party over country/their jobs. They won't and are complicit in this trainwreck. This will not end well.
