Last month showed he's not winning Arizona (11 EVs), Michigan (16 EVs), Pennsylvania (20 EVs), and Wisconsin (10 EVs) in 2020.

Show us on the map where he's going to make up those 57 electoral votes.

And that's not even getting into states that are swinging dangerously close to Dems such as Georgia (16 EVs, Trump won by 212k), North Carolina (15 EVs, Trump won by 160,000), and the Holy Grail, Florida (29 EVs, Trump won by 115,000).

If Trump loses any three of those 7 states, he's not occupying the WH past January of 2021.  And he's definitely losing at least three out of that first four, and probably all four.

Sorry, but all of this requires one to have faith in the system of election, and that Republicans will not rig things to achieve their desired result.

Vietnam vet Mueller (who got spit on by trump supporters) taking down president bone spurs is gonna be some serious baby boomer comeuppance that is long overdue. The very best (Mueller) of the worst generation in history are going to ultimately prevail over the ultimate embodiment of their shittiness and narcissism (trump).

It is starting to look like the GOP played America like a frog in a pot of waternover the past 30+ years.

Their error was thinking they could control the frog. The crazy fucker has leaped from the pot as an alligator that will only obey commands that conform to its deplorable, shameless, deformed character.

We need a Democrat to have a veto proof majority plus the next presidency to unfuck all the actions trumps and republicans have done

What exactly has the GOP accomplished legislatively that would require a veto (filibuster?) proof majority to unwind? They passed a tax bill through reconciliation.  Did I miss another major piece of legislation?  Almost every other action of the Trump administration was accomplished through administrative actions or EO.  You may want a filibuster proof Dem majority, but it is not a necessity to unwind Trump's actions.

I understand that indicting or prosecuting a president is uncharted water,  thank god, but I don’t understand why some stick to the narrative it can’t be done.   One of the main principles that our country was founded was that no one was above the law.  If you can’t be indicted, then you’re above the law.    Therefore the president should face the consequences of being indictable.

now without a doubt, house impeachment and senate conviction would seem to have a lower bar than a prosecution so it would be a logical first step but the realities of politics don’t always allow it to occur.

If Trump pardons himself and his family in the face of indictment, wouldn't that be challenged before the Supreme Court at some point?

Did Trump get guarantees from his appointees that they'd uphold the pardon? I think he can count on the beer drinking rapist.

Could the Supreme Court actually agree that the Founding Fathers intended for the pardon to be absolute including for the sitting president? I don't think a normal Supreme Court would, but I'm no law expert.

You're forgetting that the House is will be controlled by the the Dems come January so if the economy tanks in the next two years, the GOP will blame them, and as usual, a large chunk of the American people will believe them despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Yep. They convinced their mob that Barney Fag Frank was responsible for the Bush crash. Such power for a congressman from Massachusetts!

New poll shows most conservatives are OK with Trump pursuing a Trump Tower Moscow deal during election

They're okay with him delaying an election too, or shooting a man on 5th Ave. They'd have no problem with him jailing a political rival or having a journalist killed.

Trump can pardon himself, but the real test will be when the next administrator ignores it as being invalid and prosecutes him anyway.    Who knows he might be able to stretch it out long enough until he dies.   It’s not like you often see people in his shape surpass the average life expectancy.  FYI, he’s four years shy of that.

Pres. Obama was certainly on the high end at 5 over 8 years (one was technically an interim).  Bush 43 had 2.  Clinton had 4.  H.W. was high at 4 in one term.  Reagan at 4 total.  Carter, Ford, Johnson, Eisenhower, and Nixon at just two each.

Obviously Trump is out for that record in just one term.  I think he ties it personally.  this is actually another interesting topic for another thread, but that's a fascinating job to me.  And one that historians have largely ignored.  You see the COS played up in presidential biographies and biopics, but not much is written about the truly influential ones on their own.  And most important, why do they leave so frequently?  Is it because it's such a stressful relationship with the POTUS, they are with them more than their spouse, VP, and security advisers combined.   Is it a "passing of the baton" kinda thing, like he needs to get XYZ done and I just can't do it for him, so time to exit gracefully.  I think the position in the last 70 years is so poorly understood.  It transcends probably all cabinet positions save for maybe State and Defense (I would argue more powerful than Treasury and AG).

Anyway, as for Trump and his COS folks.  It's less combative than he is with most other folks.  And you crack wise all you want, but these guys aren't dumb enough to think they can ditch the job to avoid legal trouble down the road.  They know they are tied to certain things, no matter what.  But yeah, he's obviously getting a third around the seating of the new Congress.  Probably four, since we can all easily see him shitcanning somebody as election season truly heats up about 12-15 mos. from now.

Siege warfare’: Republican anxiety spikes as Trump faces growing legal and political perils

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/siege-warfare-republican-anxiety-spikes-as-trump-faces-growing-legal-and-political-perils/2018/12/08/679b785a-fa59-11e8-863c-9e2f864d47e7_story.html

A growing number of Republicans fear that a battery of new revelations in the far-reaching Russia investigation has dramatically heightened the legal and political danger to Donald Trump’s presidency — and threatens to consume the rest of the party, as well.

President Trump added to the tumult Saturday by announcing the abrupt exit of his chief of staff, John F. Kelly, whom he sees as lacking the political judgment and finesse to steer the White House through the treacherous months to come.

Trump remains headstrong in his belief that he can outsmart adversaries and weather any threats, according to advisers. In the Russia probe, he continues to roar denials, dubiously proclaiming that the latest allegations of wrongdoing by his former associates “totally clear” him.

But anxiety is spiking among Republican allies, who complain that Trump and the White House have no real plan for dealing with the Russia crisis while confronting a host of other troubles at home and abroad.

Facing the dawn of his third year in office and his bid for reelection, Trump is stepping into a political hailstorm. Democrats are preparing to seize control of the House in January with subpoena power to investigate corruption. Global markets are reeling from his trade war. The United States is isolated from its traditional partners. The investigation by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III into Russian interference is intensifying. And court filings Friday in a separate federal case implicated Trump in a felony.

Trump and the GOP remind me of SMU and aggy in the 1980s.   Ignoring all of the rules and praying that somebody else (Hillary) goes down instead.  And there’s lots of prostitues involved.

Jared Kushner and Mohammed bin Salman texted each other regularly, NYT reports. The exchanges continued even after Jamal Khashoggi's murder.

The Kushner stuff has been out there for a long time now. Like foreign govts targeting him as being malleable and naive, endless revisions of his SF-86, reading the PDB without proper clearance, etc. It's just so troubling. Complete disregard for the rule of law and for ethical norms.

As we snicker at his latest moniker it actually is a accurate name for who he is. The southern rubes, coal-country hard heads, racists and old that elected him don't see a human being but an ideological entity that represents what they want. He's Big Brother, doesn't matter what he looks like or acts like because we've always been at war with the blacks, browns and the government.

Just imagine the inevitable political catastrophe that could be avoided if the GOP coerced Trump to resign right now.

This is like watching a bunch of drug addicted kids that just needed a good family intervention before they destroyed their entire community.
