The old political jury nullification trick. A bold stroke and probably an effective one. Who gives a shit if I did illegal things, did you really want Hillary instead?

In May the President's approval rating was at 41% nationally, but 30% where the SDNY AG (and the State of NY AG)  pick its jurors.   We'll see how effective that is eventually.

So, Nick Ayers tweets thanks, but no thanks to the job.

Trump comes back and claims Ayers was never offered.

And Mulvaney is supposedly turning the offer down.  In the end, it probably will be Kushner.

Sadly, this whole hate engine has been rolling along for years. I've often wanted to write on here or the earlier places where we gathered that the GOP/Rabid Right had adopted the Nazi model but adapted it so no one gets rounded up.

My thesis was that the illusory Liberals were the equivalent of the Juden for them. Constant vilification of the libs, including hatred of the US and what it stands for. Focus the hate on a group.

They got away with it because they don't direct the anger at anyone who actually exists. The environmental wackos and feminazis are illusory, of course, but these phantoms control the Dem Party through the Clinton Cabal or George Soros. Their goal is not to improve America but to destroy it. They keep the poor, dumb, lazy negroes on the plantation with giveaways. You know what that means. Wink.

It's worked just like it did for Hitler. Had Limbaugh named a real people such as the Jews or Blacks, he would not have survived. But he and his moron chorus like to choose Jews, Blacks, and women as their targets for embodiment of the ebil lib conspiracy. The black woman representative from Houston was their unholy grail.

What's a white person to do?

Now they and we reap what was sown. The evil was/is in the hate engine.

Illegally using campaign funds to squash news that the candidate was sleeping around on his pregnant wife with a porn star is absolutely impeachable.  I don't really care if it's worthy of jail time.  But the entire purpose of campaign finance laws is to stop candidates from pulling one over on the electorate.  Trump violated the law to keep his misconduct from the public.  We might well have President Clinton now if he hadn't illegally paid them off and they came forward after Grab em by the Pussy tape.  On what planet should a president who committed felony campaign finance violations to hide the truth about his utter lack of decency be able to stay in office?

You're not suggesting that the party of family virtues has been faking moral outrage all this time (clutches pearls)?  Whatever will the Christians think?

He’s currently getting shit on twitter for spreading Qanon shit at a deplorable conference, being overheard by a reporter who reported it, and then taking the Trump playbook standby of acting superior and indignant when confronted about things that you definitely know you did (call outs in comments)

He's gonna go ahead and twitter and whatnot and talk himself out of the possible defense that he didn't know it was a crime.  Also, smocking:

The hell is he trying to accuse Obama of in that tweet? I can't think of any litigation that he was involved in.

It's the standard "look over there, look over there, don't look here" nonsense defense which grows more desperate by the day.

It has been fun to watch the (admittedly brilliant) "you can't commit obstruction of justice on Twitter if you only quote other people saying things" strategy evolve into Trump quoting other people, and then still offering his personal thoughts anyway.

Just as a "word of the day" thing - this is smocking.  It's a sewing technique (that for machine sewing requires an attachment) that is a kinda old school version of elastic.  Often in clothing for babies and little girls to wear to Sunday school.

Looks like something a person in a caravan or had brown skin would wear.
