The simple truth here is that Trump's policies are in no way "Republican" in any historical sense of the word, but simpletons like V_Mc_W see the "(R)" next to "Trump" at the voting manipu booth and think that's the story.

Brisket, like many big contributors around here, has his WTF moments, but he is for the most part true to himself and his core beliefs.

Yeah he is a liberal, so he is true to his core beliefs of being a liberal. Sorry Jimmy, nobody is buying that.

Subliminal, Brisket has been up liberal ass 24/7 and supports 90% of liberal policies. Dude isnt a Repub, he isnt even that moderate. To call him a Republican is laughable.

Brisket is for exactly the same things he was for 15 years ago, with the spare exception of tax stimulus during economic expansions. I know this, because he argued with me about the 2003 cut paying for itself back on Hornfans, and it turned out he a wrong. Presumably he learned his lesson.
Of course, he would have never had to learn it if he had stayed on the traditional Republican line like McCain did, and realized that tax cuts aren't magic beans and deficit-funded stimulus during expansion is just a wealth transfer from the future. The GOP didn't support debt structural debt expansions traditionally, they do now, but for decades that was a core principle. Of course, they still pretend it isn't, but debt expansion is built into the GOP policy program now.

But that's the point, right? Core principles stayed put and the GOP deviated from them for expediency, and at the time Tahoe and Brisket and GoLL and @washparkhorn supported the deviation and said "we'll have to wait and see." .  Of course, the 2001 and 2003 stimuli were unnecessary and ultimately damaging as many said they would be. We waited and now we see. Tahoe keeps bringing those donuts, but Brisket and Ghost learned the lesson.

And now you're during it, by your own admission, on tariffs. And so is the GOP, even while so many make mouth noises about free trade.  So my question is whether you were ever a Republican in the first place, or if all you support is mining contradictions.

Brisket doesnt subscribe to Republican policies anymore. He is slightly pro gun but that is about it. The rest of his posting and high fiving with yall on every single thread tells me otherwise.

Well, if this is the "Trump" economy, it will be easy for you to prove...kindly show us the inflection point.

I'll hang up and listen.

The inflection point is when market confidence soared right after he was elected and every liberal network said we were in for a massive downswing because of the uncertainty of electing a demagogue. Then the markets went up after the inital drop and have continued that way for the most part since. GDP is currently through the roof. A stat Obama never got above 2%.

I’m curious to hear what people think of this.  I think it’s an interesting possible measure of voter enthusiasm.  I’ve been of the opinion that Dems will outperform polls in midterms due to anti Trump fervor.  This is a contradicting data point though.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/markjoyella/2018/05/30/fox-news-steamrolls-cable-news-competition-with-big-win-in-may-ratings/

That's what a booming economy, Dems siding with MS-13, a witch hunt investigation by Mueller, and growing disdain for liberal crybaby politics will do to an electorate. They are chunking their lead into the garbage because their only message is that they are the "Anti-Trump", the same mistake Hillary made. You know what they say, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

Not ina historical sense, but for all intents and purposes here in 2018, they are Republican policies.

Alright Kellyanne, explan how all of that is beneficial to the American people.  Otherwise it’s just orange Dotard doing reverse Obama.

I dont have to, 90% of that is obviously beneficial to Americans if you have half a brain. And the polls are bearing that out; Trump is loathed by a large block of the population, almost half, yet his approval numbers and Republican support in the midterms has taken a sharp upturn in the last few months. Large leads have been cut in the generic balloting for 2018. In large part, because people are willing to put aside their feelings about his obnoxious blowhard ego due to the fact that our country is flourishing under him. If he wasnt such an unlikeable dude he would be at 60-70% approval easily.

Those things dont have bearing on our current economy. The proof is in the pudding and our economy is booming, so I am willing to give the guy a chance with his tariff policies, all you hear about in the media is how X Trump policy is going to fail and is the end of America prosperity as we know it and it seems like that has not panned out once yet.

Okay Ill bite, tax cuts (more money for businesses and citizens) , the "right to try" bill (obviously a great thing) , the embassy move to Jerusalem (following through on a longstanding bipartisan promise), the release of many international prisoners (how in the world could this be bad) , pulling us out of the Paris climate accord (stopping the wasteful funding of other countries, I can see how liberals might find this as a negative), the large scale repeal of Obama era regulations that were suffocating small business (booming economy is bearing this one out), overturning of the Obamacare mandate (it was unconstitutional to begin with), the Gorsuch appointment (a like minded judge replacing Scalia, liberals dont like this one), defunding of planned parenthood (deserved after all the abortions and money they donate to Dems, another one you dont like), defeating ISIS (again, how could this be bad?), increased deportations of criminal illegals (how is this a bad thing LOL), record unemployment rates (for African Americans as well, this is a great thing!), booming GDP growth (how is this bad?), decreased food stamp dependency (more great news!), etc.

Everyone except a majority of the states voting electorates in this country. Gosh, I feel so stupid supporting a successful president. Just because you are obviously upset and have Trump Derangement doesnt wash away his accomplishments.

So you define “Republican policies” as whatever the president does, not those things you as a Republican or the Republican Party platform supports?

I should make it very clear- I do understand this particular set of issues well and in-depth. I already know how this movie ends and I’m not interested in arguing with you about your feelings or opinions about economics. But you’re saying Brisket and others don’t subscribe to Republican policies, which interests me. You seem to be either saying you don’t subscribe to them either, or the president doesn’t. Which is it?

You are looking at one instance while I am looking at Brisket as a whole. He sides with liberals on the majority of issues and topics around here. His stances are hardly Republican and look more like that of a Democrat. He is either center-left or left. Take your pick.

This is what I'm always saying.  If their quest is for Liberal snow flake tears, by the time they get them, they'll be residing in a flaming crater hole.  You don't support a POS that's primary interest is his own brand and pocket with the belief that you'll show Liberals and crooked Hillary.  She just got a huge tax break with this presidency and already have healthcare.  It's really great that they care so much for this family.

Nice try, but I’m not taking the bait.
You don’t look like a Republican or a conservative, based on your actual support for policy. Is whom you side with is less important than what you support?
